I came for the barn raising. Now we are going to do chickens. You have made such a great difference in my family. I wish that I could do the same for you. Thank you kindly sir
Depends. lol... If the birds are warm, they’re peeping is really cute & soft. If they’re cold, it’s really loud and it’s a different type of peep that makes you want to tear your hair out. Trust me. 👌🤣 I always set them on the front seat, turn the heater on and partially open the box. Point the heat vent right into the box. Quiet, happy, softly peeping chicks.☺️❤️
Love watching your property come alive. Figaro, Pluto, the chooks and Moose. Ohhh and that box of yellow cuteness 😍. Big hugs goats. Thanks for another awesome video 🙏😍 xx
Embrace our wierd, let it shine! Thank you so much Al for your videos. I am sure you have your own struggles but I wanted to tell ya, you and your family, your homestead brings me much joy. Looking forward to seeing what the summer looks like your way. Blessings to you and everything you hold dear ❤
have a load of gravel and fill brought in and dumped in the goat yard. it will help drain the yard. You can always put sod over the top of it for the comfort of the goats feet. otherwise it will always be a mudhole.
love the border collie watching the chicks being put in the box lol love how figaro goes side ways when he wants you to pet him i noticed it a few times now hugsss from Ontario Canada
Can I just say that my day isn’t complete without a “Good Morning modern steaders” ! Enjoying the videos, we have chickens, turkeys and Katadhin sheep here.
CHICKS!! Love opening a box of chicks....it's like Christmas! Praying for warm and non-rainy weather for you all so everything dries up. I'm with you.....can't wait to watch that barn come to life! Blessings from NE Missouri!
Love the thought..."Embrace our weird"! I so agree. It's what makes us unique! I love watching your "weird". You are a little bit quirky and so joyful and look on the bright side even during adverse conditions...(dare I say the New Hampshire winter of 2018-2019)? Most people would complain, complain, complain...but you take it in your stride. Love following your videos and family and watching life at Lumnah Acres. A bright spot in my day. 😊
Good morning Al. That dog was so cute and a great size. I downsized from 105 lb. Lab to a couple of mixed dogs that are only 30 and 40 lbs. So much easier to handle.
Boy oh boy...do I remember having to grind my own chick mash in the 70's! So nice to open a bag of organic chick mash :-) My ducklings, goslings and chicks all got non medicated mash. The geese used to sneak into the chicken coop to steal their pellets and it was ALL the same stuff! They were not keen on the chickens. Have fun with the chicks!
Hi, Al. Lumnah Acres is now at 87,000 subscribers. At this rate, it won't be long before you break 100,000. Good job and best of luck. Kate in Olympia, WA
Shop pup, Olive, is adorable! That's great that Tanner is related! What is that big peak, show in your ride into town when you showed the cloud cover. Looks far away. Chicks! Spring is coming! Yay!
I've been thinking about the goat's attitude towards Hope. You give her a lot of extra attention & they're use to being your favorites, so maybe giving them some extra treats & attention just for them when you feed them, it might help with the jealousy problem. Animal's are a lot like people lol!
Al, take a look at Lucky who was born a few days ago to Raven on Art and Bri's homestead. She is adorable and will give Hope a good run for her money as to who will be the cutest goat on YT. Hope, undoubtedly, as her personality is so endearing. TFS.
@@raffaellavitiello1762 Um, you mean *breed* of goat. They are the same species of goats, but different breeds. Like a German Shepherd and a Chihuahua are different breeds, yet the same species-dog.
You do raise a good point- we probably ought to separate by breeds and I also think by age. :) Nigerian: For her age (born in 2018), Willow (of W & R) is the cutest. For this spring, so far, Hope is winning. (Who knows, Al's Willow may have a cuter one - Lol!) Kiko: Arms family homestead's Lambert. (But, the prettiest were from his moon spotted doe. More on that, later.) Nubian: Lucky, so far. (And I think she's prettier than their two new ones.) Nubian/Nigerian cross: Stella, of course. Now, I've brought up prettiest as being different from cute. Cute, to me also involves mannerisms and known personality traits. So far, Hope is the cutest of these Spring time Nigerian kids. But, for prettiest, I prefer her half siblings Posey and Poppy. Sorry Al! But, he got Hope for her milk production pedigree (genetics) her personality. Please note that I'm specifying spring babies. That is because I suspect that W&R's Willow will have SUPER cute kids, this fall. I can't wait!
High mowing seeds, Champlain valley honey, green mountain organic feed - and those dang freezing temps holding up work - it's a day in the life here in Vermont too
Looks like Olive showed you where the meat birds were, so cute. Will be nice when the goats finally except Hope. Think that Willow is going to have two large adorable babies and is going to be very protective. Olivia reminds me of my granddaughter Sarah, both are beautiful, smart and talented. My Sarah had made the first string (Violin) in her school districts band. Maybe you could use some of that gravel and put it in a small trench so the water will drain away from the goat enclosure, It is so sweet when you all cook together, an inspiration to all families, more kids need to learn how to do things around the house and with the responsibility of a pet. God Bless
Thanks for explaining why you dip their beaks in water. I asked another youtuber why and they didn't answer. We're getting baby chicks after our goat barn is built and our goats are moved into it from sheds. I can't wait to have chickens!😍 Avacodo oil, didnt know of it. Too bad Im allergic to avacados. :(
Thank you for sharing. When I need to calm down I watch Weed em and Reap and y'all's vids, always centers me enuff to keep pushing forward and not to dwell on the negative.. Im a (kinda) neighbor from Massachusetts.. my Brothers up in Derry... Al your tone and affect is very soothing. You are truley blessed... 😊
Have you ever made chocolate avocado brownie muffins? Id love to see you all try that and let me know what you think of them? You could still add peanut butter!
I’m curious how you learned to cook and bake so well? Did you learn growing up, teach yourself, or did your wife help? I’m amazed every day the variety of items you whip up.
Hi Y'all, You guys make me want to raise chickens! I love the way Al and Gina work together! Such an adorable family! I'm being nosy but, there was a cute little boy on one of your episodes! What happened to him? I've only seen him once. Is he a son or cousin? Al I admire your knowledge and energy and I live vicariously thru you! Keep up the wonderful job you do! God bless your family!
I have started using avacado oil because you seem to really like it. It has been perfect. It doesn't give flavor and really isn't real expensive. Enjoyed todays video. Have a great week!
Hope you had a joyous Easter !!! Thought of you yesterday when I used the Instant Pot and heated up a honey glazed ham mmmm !!! Looks like ham sandwiches the rest of the week. See ya tomorrow !!
Hey Al, there's a collar some folks use to discipline dogs that might work good for the Bullying Goats. The collar will do a real low voltage shock or too, has an option for just a buzz noise. U may could train the goats to be nice to Hope. If they get too rowdy just hit a button to get their attention....(just a thought)
That's one of the things I miss from my youth: the yearly arrival of the chicks. They're so cute. They stink to high heaven if you don't keep up with the bedding, but they're cute.
You made my English Springer Spaniel go crazy, when she heard the baby chicks started curping, she was running around the house trying to find them. I keep replaying there sound it was so fun to watch here head twist back and forth, trying to figure out where they were.
This is the first time you’ve had chicks in a while huh?? So fun and exciting! Those muffins sound sooooo good! I’m just so enamored with you and your family! So charming. Can’t wait to meet the new goat kids!!!
I will have to make your muffins because I love muffins better than cookies too. The little chickens are so cute. It’s always fun to see what you are cooking up and I love seeing Hope everyday too.
Part of the reason it doesn’t come out like the bakerys is Because when baking you should use room temp ingredients also you have to be very precise that’s one of the things with baking also you can use a tooth pick to swirl the peanut butter into the chocolate on the tops we at my home have peanut allergies so I’ll try this with Caramel or raspberry thanks for the idea.
We do that peanut butter drizzle on top with brownies too it works awesome...so yum..we looked for the green mountain feed here...Nope! Not available..bummer..reviewed the mix we thought it was better than the one we got..
It's definitely looking like spring Al, with the snow melt, birds singing, and chicks! The dog at the store was beautiful, but so is Tanner. I think, from my experience with our mini Aussie, Tanner will stay looking just like he is. And he is a twin to our girl! She is a year old in May and she is 20 lbs of muscle! lol I suspect Tanner will be the same. Hope just wants out with the girls, but then has to hide. Poor Hope, once the sun comes back out maybe everyone will play nicely again. lol I am definitely going to make your muffins for my card party! Can't make them just for myself as I don't want to eat them all. lol Thanks for the recipe!
That dog at the store is adorable, so curious. I just love king Figaro 👑🐱❤He is always following you around and today walking the tightrope 😂🤣. Cute little meat birds 🐤🐥🐤🐥. Those muffins look amazing! I use avocado oil instead of olive oil on most things now because of you, thank you! 🥑.I wish them girls would leave poor little Hope alone 😟. Willow's baby bump is getting so big.🤗can't wait for her to kid. Road bans? Why? Glad you had a good time with friends. Continued blessings to all. ❤🙏
Hello, here is a wierd tip I was givin for raising young chicks and it works. If you boil eggs and take just the yolk and mash it with some cayenne pepper and feed that to the chicks for the first 2 weeks it works well. Or just mix cayanne pepper with the chick food that work just as well. It helps them make it through the first couple weeks better. The cayanne is not HOT to the chicks like it is to us! I was wondering are those cornish cross meet birds?
I’ve been wanting to order one of those waterers from coopsmore. They have been out of stock for a few weeks. I’ve been wanting to get one for my meat birds. Hope is a butterball! How much of that is winter coat and how much of that is chaff hay?!? Lol. They say a camera adds 10 pounds but I suspect this is a ball of reality.
She's certainly a plump little goat! Vets seemed unconcerned when they checked her body condition the other day, though, so imagine it's more alright for a baby to have some extra weight.
Good Morning Al , I hope you have a Safe & Blessed Day.. I think spring just may be here. YaY !!!!!!!!! P.S. It would be nice if little Hope had a window she could look out there in the back where she's at, Just sayin !!!!!! :-)
Just found your channel a few days ago ,love it . Hope is precious fell in love with her watching all the older videos to catch up. Why do you call the one chicken pen New York City?
@Dora Goodin Don't worry - I'd been watching for several months before I saw it written in the comments and went "Duh." (It is also written on the side of his coop.) I think his pigs last year resided in New Ham-Shire. :)
Al and his family are truly caring..... realists. They care about and care for all of their animals. Some are just meant for "freezer camp". It is clear to me that Al and Gina like knowing where their food comes from and don't shy away from the grittier parts of self sufficiency. They chose their path with their eyes wide open. Tuxedo Cat - well it just going to sink deeper into the mud and then it becomes a tripping hazard. Gravel would be best but I hope you didn't forget about his BARN he hasn't put up yet🤓
Awwww! Their dog was so concerned about the chicks in the box. What a sweetheart ❤️
I came for the barn raising. Now we are going to do chickens. You have made such a great difference in my family. I wish that I could do the same for you. Thank you kindly sir

Good evening Lumnah Family from Australia. I keep chickens and ducks. Love my ducks such crazy personalities
have a load of gravel and fill brought in and dumped in the goat yard. it will help drain the yard. You can always put sod over the top of it for the comfort of the goats feet. otherwise it will always be a mudhole.
Morning from Hawaii! On vacation with our family- Grandkids excited to make the muffin/cupcakes! Thanks, Al❤️
love the border collie watching the chicks being put in the box lol love how figaro goes side ways when he wants you to pet him i noticed it a few times now hugsss from Ontario Canada
i don't know how hard you work but watching you do it is such a stress relief session for me. You make it all look easy.

Nice early morning ride along. Wow little chick are really smart. Tanner is thinking what is all that noise. Well enjoy your day everybody.

good day to you Al, Gina & Olivia !! thanks for sharing another awesome update and adventures on & off the homestead !! 👨🌾🎥👍✝

Al, you are so busy with everything. You have a great attitude when it comes to life, and I enjoy hearing you chuckle. Blessings.
I love watching you gather the eggs. Can't wait until spring to see the eggs multiply.
I love hearing him say thanks ladies.
Excellent job managing Hope !! 💕👍🐣keep them separated until it’s time!
I have anxiety too! Animals are such a blessing! Love watching your videos!
Oh Figaro =) , have you given any thoughts about putting stepping stones in front of the goat barn?
I love listening to baby chicks

Yes, she is adorable! I love moon spotting- and those fringes on her ears! Hope has serious competition...
It is not competition different specie of goats not competition ,both beautiful in their own species

Hope you had a joyous Easter !!! Thought of you yesterday when I used the Instant Pot and heated up a honey glazed ham mmmm !!! Looks like ham sandwiches the rest of the week. See ya tomorrow !!
Great bonding with your daughters.
Those muffins would be a great midmorning snack with coffee when your building the barn. Enjoyed the video today. ☝🐐🐥🐓...👉

drop a few boards down in the mud for the goat's they'll use them if they can, goat's hate stepping in mud and water

Love the chirping of the chicks
Just a thought but maybe widen the front of the hay rack, like you did the back, now that you have four goats plus little ones on the way?😊
AL...can make a suggestion? You should add hats and stickers to your store. I always get questions when I wear ur gear:)
Meat birds do really well on fermented feed.
It's definitely looking like spring Al, with the snow melt, birds singing, and chicks! The dog at the store was beautiful, but so is Tanner. I think, from my experience with our mini Aussie, Tanner will stay looking just like he is. And he is a twin to our girl! Sunday, May 12, 2019 is 145 days from December 18th.
It's good to see green grass!
Lovely video. Muffins look fab. Chicks are gorgeous albeit destined for freezer camp.
That dog at the store is adorable, so curious. I just love king Figaro 👑🐱❤He is always following you around and today walking the tightrope 😂🤣. Cute little meat birds 🐤🐥🐤🐥. Willow's baby bump is getting so big.🤗can't wait for her to kid. Road bans? Why? Glad you had a good time with friends. Continued blessings to all. ❤🙏
I know! I'm glad to finally see someone else using avocado oil. I found it at a specially market about 10 years ago and have been using it ever since.
Willows belly is getting big! Let's hope she can hold it till spring! 😄
Great video this morning!!
Enjoy your upcoming week!!

Love your channel and love your family. Awesome content! Can’t wait to see what the future brings. :)
great to see ur land snow free Al
What did you do today well I dipped 30 chicks beaks into water. The usual taking care of the farm
Great I love to watch your video homestead 👨👩👧👸👕👓🐩🐕🐈🐏🐔🐓🐥🏡🎥👍👍👍
I’ve been wanting to order one of those waterers from coopsmore. They have been out of stock for a few weeks. I’ve been wanting to get one for my meat birds. My meat birds will probably be in the freezer before they get them back in stock. Bummer. I’ll keep checking back.
I cringed when the feed store employee put your chicks in that box lined with newspaper. All I could think about I hope they don’t get spraddle leg. Good luck with your meat birds.
Love your family and farm. Hate to see you walking in muck to goat door. How about a pallet sidewalk? Fill in gaps with scrap boards.
Gooooooooooooooooodmornin Al and the Lumnah's! 👍😁
Good Morning Al , I hope you have a Safe & Blessed Day.. I think spring just may be here. YaY !!!!!!!!! P.S.
It would be nice if little Hope had a window she could look out there in the back where she's at,
Just sayin !!!!!! :-)
all the dogs in this video deserve an award.
Just found your channel a few days ago ,love it . Hope is precious fell in love with her watching all the older videos to catch up. Why do you call the one chicken pen New York City?
New YOLK City ;-)
@Dora Goodin Don't worry - I'd been watching for several months before I saw it written in the comments and went "Duh." (It is also written on the side of his coop.) I think his pigs last year resided in New Ham-Shire. :)
Olive was like "So many squeaky toys!!!"
You are so caring I cant imagine you killing an animal, do you do it yourself or have someone do it for you
Al and his family are truly caring..... realists. They care about and care for all of their animals. Some are just meant for "freezer camp". It is clear to me that Al and Gina like knowing where their food comes from and don't shy away from the grittier parts of self sufficiency. They chose their path with their eyes wide open. There is a wealth of information in the older videos. They process their own chickens, turkeys and even pigs now that they have gained the necessary skills by hosting classes. Its all in the back catalog of videos.
Everybody is looking great!
You should put some cement steppingstones in the goat yard mud so they can get out without being muddy. 🦶🏻🥾🐐💦
I was thinking of the same thing, or at least grade it out a little with a rake and lay down some eco-friendly absorbant or even barley straw.
Tuxedo Cat - well it just going to sink deeper into the mud and then it becomes a tripping hazard. Gravel would be best but I hope you didn't forget about his BARN he hasn't put up yet🤓
How bout a boardwalk?
Or just some plywood or something temporary till the mud drys up! Thought the plywood would also sink! I don’t know!
GM AL, please give HOPE and FIGERO hugs from me, they are too adorable 😻🐐❤️🌷❤️🌷❤️🌷
