Thanks for filming this Mileage Mike. I-70 through the Glenwood Canyon is impressive. Though I was not expecting this video to be nearly 3 hours long. Didn’t realize how far Rifle was from Denver.
@@MileageMikeTravels One thing that always blew the minds of my Eastern US friends. Time to drive to another state from Denver: North - 90-120 minutes; East - 3.5 hours; South - 3.5 hours; West - 4 hours. To New Englanders, who can drive from Boston to Maine in 2 hours, or down to NYC in 3.5 hours, it's almost unfathomable.
Now, that's a drive. This lets you know just how big the mountains are, and how hard it was to wedge four lanes of Interstate highway through there; much different than just carving out a two-lane trail for US 6, 24 or 40. Almost as many tunnels as the Pennsylvania Turnpike, but the mountains are much higher. I think, at 11,000 feet or so above sea level, my COPD would probably be giving me a fit, and frequent stops would be needed. Then there's No Name (Exit 119; no services, rest area) and Exit 218, which doesn't even have that.
First time thru Glenwood Canyon? I've been thru it five times, twice on I-70 and three times on Amtrak. I guess you know it was the most expensive interstate segment ever built on a per-mile cost basis.
Seems like there are speed bumps in Garfield Cty on I-70; quite a bumpy ride. GeNErAl MoTiON SiCKNeSS sometimes happens when I WAtCH these educational trips of Mike. If it would be in an IMAX theatre, that would be nifty.

Oh yeah these western states are way bigger than they look on the maps.

Wow!! GORG!!
I hate I-70 west of Denver. The traffic especially on Friday nights and Sunday afternoon drives me nuts. The scenery is good though.
You are driving through the beautiful country that God has made
The continental dividee center is due West of Idaho spring and id springs technically is on the divide
Traffic was really bad in Denver the last time you were out there
22:09 No Name!!
Empower Field at Mile High!
Mike, if I can ask, what is the camera you use for recording these drives? picture is really sharp, love what I'm seeing here!
1:37:54 Austin Dillon may need to flee here.
I wonder what vehicle does he own todo this
Did you feel a difference in your cars performance driving above 10k feet?
Yeah I could hear the engine struggling more up here.
1:50:43 Exit 218....Nothing
