- CARAVAN PRICES AND CARAVAN MARKET UPDATE. Our first market update of the year, with talk of a UK recession we were unsure of what would happen to prices and also the camping market.
The first glasses guide came out 1st of April and we saw the first big drop in prices across the board on all makes and models of used touring caravans, since covid we have seen a constant increase in used caravans for sale prices.
So what does this used caravans for sale in the UK price change mean? We look at the touring caravan and Camping market and see what has happened to demand.

Mark. I gotta say. There is nothing cheap about caravanning. From the caravan to the car to the site fees. Nothing is cheap. One either likes is or not.
Yes by the time you add everything up, you need to get the use or it doesn't add up, but the alternative cost of other holidays either in the UK or abroad have all increased too.
You can pick up 14nights on a greek island for 2peeps for 1.4k with jet2 in july. Thats nearly 7years worth of guaranteed sun for the price of the 15k 2017 4berth.
In 7years what will the van sell for?
And just looked at some of the sites we used to stay on. In excess of 40sovs a night, these greedy site owners are not helping your efforts mark
😅after more than 40 years of holidaying abroad I/we decided to give caravaning a try last September
In total we spent 6k plus on holidays abroad last year so far this year we've spent £1500 on 10 trips away in our Pegasus Brindisi (bargain)
As I bought the caravan new I would expect it will have dropped in value but unlike last year's foreign holidays which are now only memories the caravan is still here to enjoy
We bought a Brand new Bailey Pegasus Ancona S2 six berth back in 2011. We had 8 brilliant seasons with out 4 children before wife got fed up and wanted to go abroad to Europe for more frequent shorter sunnier trips. We used to book early and plan our seasons from March to November mostly visiting local club sites, CL’s averaging £15- £20 per night. Half way through covid we were approached by a friend of my sister in law and were offered a huge sum for our caravan. We sold our van for only £1000 less than what I bought it for in 2011, which I thought was absolutely crazy! But, the buyers were happy and so we took their money. Fast forward to this week and we are browsing caravans again and all I can say is that the prices in 2023 are very strong locally to us. So, if the prices are easing I’ve yet to see evidence of it. The prices of staying at a caravan site have at least tripled from when we started caravanning. I can’t see how caravanning is affordable or accessible to the average family these days. Still we can just look for free! 👍

I think all you need is a basic caravan and motor home really I have noticed that some sites in Europe are only catering for camper vans and motor homes but not caravans is caravanning declining in Europe I know in the uk camp sites are a catering for caravans and motor homes in the uk caravanning seems more popular in the uk
Good video once again, interesting in seeing the prices change..we bought a Lunar Quasar 524 in September with everything included, awnings, crockery , even the Samsung flat screen TV..the hob lot for what we think was a good price, it's a 2008, so hopefully not lost too much...and also looks great now with the new tow hitch cover from yourselves..looks really good ..will definitely be coming to you when we want to upgrade...keep up the great videos. The motor caravan with drop down bed-- with bed dropped down heaven help those who have to make a quick exit half asleep-- Caravans & M/H burn VERY quickly.......

Not as yet, we may see more of this, but still lots of first timers, and also people now upgrading too so more part exchanges starting to come through.

Normally only a couple of times a year. We had the big retreat to put on a site for ourselves, but couldn't get a site where we wanted.
Do caravan need an MOT
No mot required, it's advisable to have a service each year that will check the running gear etc

Whats the ideal weight of van for a 2.2 diesal mitsibishi outlander?
Have a check on you v5 for braked trailer weight, then your mass in service weight. The braked trailer weight is your legal limit, the mass in service is roughly what you want the MTPLM of the caravan to be under so you are safe on the road. We have a towing weight video that explains it properly. 👍
