this show hit right as anime was really making the jump to america and was kinda the prototypical "cute girls doing cute things" show, almost a decade before k-on. i remember it being all over early 2000's anime culture for some reason.
di gi charat is HUGE in japan for some reason, i love the anime and everything about it because it doesn't really take itself serious. but why do the japanese?
i wish anime was an random, fun and silly as it was in the late 90s and early 2000s. its just fun and dumb for the fun of it and that's what makes it beautiful. on top of that dejikos voice is just so amazing nyo~~~~~~
You know Di Gi Charat is back as a Nendoroid and will be available as of September 2023 :) My first exposure to her was actually in a Doujin Game called Glove on fight and it's such an awesome game. Missed the 90's and early 00's anime.
Pocjiko got was a dlc character in the game series "Hyper dimension Neptunia" I series that literally parody's other game titles She was renamed "Broccoli", had Gema as her weapon, had her trademark catchphrase, and had a running gag with the protagonist Neptune calling her "Puchiko" despite Broccoli correcting her every time

I just saw your video and as a fan of the Di Gi Charat franchise, I have to say that your video on this series is well done. ^o^ I do understand you gripes about it and will agree with some of them (mainly the english releases, as I feel the english licencing history for the franchise is a mess. =.=) Also, if you do plan to cover the other DGC anime series, I say good luck with some of them (Mainly Di Gi Charat Nyo since... that is the least known of the DGC anime series. ;;.)
I genuinely think this anime is weirder then many western cartoons I've watched like cow and chicken and maybe even ed edd and eddy or of course spongebob squarepants. But for a fever dream it's cute. ♥️
If you think the artwork in Di Gi is anything short of absolute perfection then you are everything that is wrong with the 21st century. I even bet your unironically nostalgic for Windows XP too.
