Think this track is track is a total Pariah, not just in IDM or drill n bass but in music as a whole. You can say the for the entirety of The Tuss but this track especially is such a once in a lifetime experience. Meticulously progressed, many genius motifs that can only be spurred up by Aphex Twin himself and drum programming that I don’t even think a robot could even can recreate. Hell, The percussion itself deserves a damn Pulitzer. Aphex the goat!
yes, 1000%. "pariah", interesting choice of word! its insane level of music creation, very beyond all conventional thinking. would so love to have been able to see the project / studio set up for this track!
I know Richard has stated one of sequencers used on this album was the Yamaha RS7000, but this track was definitely created on it. At about 0:21 into the track when the closed hat gets more intense/glitchy he’s messing with the “sequence play fx” more specifically the clock shift midi delay and swing velocity.
@@iamzoid You’re welcome mate. I only know because I own one myself. I’d recommend buying one as even by today’s standards it’s still very powerful. I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t see the light of day again in Richards music- but time will tell.
I remember when I first heard this track, I could barely get through it because of the aggressive drum-synths at the beginning. But now, it's one of my favorite electronic tracks. The piano part inspired me to learn the instrument
