They bought 260 of them in one order around 1980. They were the first leaning buses they had. I drove them 40 years ago. Eventually a few of them made their way to the Miami Dade police department and was retrofitted to be mobil command posts.
I was 11 years old in 1981 when these busses came out, to ring the bell you pushed those long plastic strips between the windows, the funny thing is that these days the busses have reverted back to the old technology of the pull cord bell. The year before these busses came out the miami dade bus system had a horribly old fleet and the air in alot of them did not work anymore. its wierd i randomly saw this video because ive been thinking about these busses on and off since 1981 because I ride the bus alot still at 54 years old. Thanks for posting this video, great memories.
Hey! Thanks for sharing this. I remember the old buses. I remember my brother & I rode on the old buses. It's been over 3 decades. I remember where we rode on route 3 to my dad's house. When I was 10 years old. I remember everything.
Now this made my day! to see that their is a running RTS still in 2016 from the original MDT/MTA fleet. look at the Flx next to it! man they should open a museum for all there classic buses. Nice video though! #transitfan....

the Rts was such awesome buses! I was born before they began being the buses cities had
Miami had RTSes just ONE year before NYC started with theirs in 1981, but NYC ran their GMC RTSs little longer than Miami did.
also must be nice to have historical buses
Does this have a Air Starter?
