Can you see the difference in coaching between Wallace and Kirk? Of course Iowa St. is a much tougher team, but I believe it's time for Kirk to retire.

I'm glad some one brought up the last 90 seconds of the first half clock management. I noticed it and it made me sick, we got lucky that they missed the FG, but this end of the half stuff has been biting us here and there for decades!

Erica is correct! Probably one of the best callers of the night. KF has become too stubborn over the years. KF will get through this year with a soft schedule.
However, I think he's due to have some upcoming rough seasons. He doesn't truly give QB's the opportunities they deserve when it comes to in-game situations. KF has proven over the years he has trouble recruiting quality QB's. Can't wait til he retires!

There's no reason for Iowa to lose the game to the Iowa State by one point. It is the coaching staff fault at Iowa.

Kirk plays not to lose. He runs his offense not to lose - he hires offensive coordinator not to lose.
That's why he's never won anything.
And the two drives inside the five during the first half or microcosmic examples of his entire coaching career .
Exactly why Iowa never achieves what they should.
It's too bad there's so many ferentz apologists out there that love him ... which is why he is still around.
He's a darn good politician that can collect donor money.

Why does a pass have to be on target for there to be pass interference? If the defender moves the receiver out of play before the ball gets there, what is that?

I appreciate your coverage, Cory, but I believe arguing that it "should have been 21 pts at halftime" is a bit disingenuous. While you might be frustrated that it didn't happen, so many things could have happened differently on BOTH sides of the field that it's not worth mentioning.
Unrelated, I think one huge problem for the Hawks this game is they came in with overconfidence, much like how many commentators were guaranteeing an Iowa victory before the game began.

The lack of running productivity in the red zone to me, was more on the blocking than who the running back was. ISU routinely had a guy breaking through to the backfield. At one point, we had #82 blocking Orange. I mean what are we doing having our 3/4th string TE blocking their best and biggest dlineman. Also I agree. From the sounds of some of his comments, if it was up to Lester, Sullivan would have packages/plays throughout the game regardless how Cade looked

Make no mistake, the narrative of this game was very simply that they couldn’t get the ball in the end zone twice in the first half when inside roughly the 5 yard line.
(Cory says this at the 1750 mark of the video.)
And completely inept passing game, particularly in the second half.

It's undeniable iowa fans have forgotten and have no clue idea what a decent modern WR would even look like in black and gold. It's a rotating cast of nobodies we have to keep hearing about. It'd be more appropriate to just not even learn their names at this point.

Well I didn't listen live because of how disappointing this loss was. Not sure if anyone reads these comments agter the show is over, but I have some thoughts. Ferentz makes men out of boys...great person.
Now he is the CEO of Hawkeye Football who needs some pressure. In July we heard that he would have some plays scripted for him and we also heard how close this competition was. First and foremost, Kirk is all in on McNamara. He respects him for what he did at Michigan. When he became available I can only imagine how gitty he was when he was available. I think the suspension speaks to that. Second a lot of NIL money was spent on him. Kirk has done this before. He started Beathard a year later than he should have...think about how good Beathard could have been if he started three years. The QB situation has been a lose lose for the last several years. If Kirk starts Sullivan, then he doesn't look good to the team as that money could have went to others. Second, it appears as if he promised him the job based on the circumstances. If Sullivan isn't any better, then it shows we overpaid for a less than average QB. I think when it comes to QB Kirk is as blind as a bat. The Oline changes week in and week out and they toy with different players on the roster, but refuses to at QB. Second vs Illinois ST they went for two and didn't convert. Then your first and goal two times and you get cute. Then you chase points when you shouldnt and after that play you go conservative. Campbell out coached Kirk all day. He knew from that moment on the 2 point play that he had Ferentz. He is predictable...Campbell stacked the box because it was exactly what Kirk was going to do. Defense is not what it was last year and it wont be. They got no pressure with the front four and the backs aren't as good as they should be. Second, more times then not, losing to ISU leads to a mediocre year. Their playoff hopes are all gone. Calling it now...the season will end at MN. This is at best an 8-4 team, but most likely a 7-5 team. Right now, they are likely losing to the Gophers and the Huskers. Then you have OSU and a trip to UCLA that I think are 90 plus % of losing. No way this is a 10 win season. Last but not least, Beth needs to tell Kirk when he gets the record for Big Ten wins, it will be his final season, because a 25 year veteran coach doesn't make the mistakes he made yesterday. He will refuse to play Sullivan because he is loyal to a fault with only one position...QB. Time for a change.

If Iowa is so bad, why do the refs keep helping Iowa lose?

  • @Aracnacon1
    @Aracnacon1 หลายเดือนก่อน

Why does Gary Danielson gaslight us on what is acceptable by the refs management of the game. How is "Letting the Play" = fairness? When you say that, you mean letting one team play at the time you are saying it. If you watch the film what exactly where the refs doing? The only calls I saw where questionable, and the no calls would have meant a swing in points in Iowa's direction. SO TO SAY THAT THE REFS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GAME IS NONSENSE. 2 things can be fact at the same time. Yes Iowa blundered, BUT after getting torched on several calls. I am not letting them off the hook.
