is true tho We don't bother its treated as a street language and most Ghanaian ladies are not really street girls so you have to go out of your way to learn it its not so common like it is in Nigeria that's why
💯 Edit: 2:03 She should have known better since she said in Nigeria. That means Ghana is not the same as Nigeria to be doing the same thing they do over there.
Exactly man .. she already stated that the pidgin sounds broken, it’s just the students that uses pidgin, outside the school people don’t really speak it 😊
Ghana is motherland and women are highlyy respected in the culture.Women are value and spécial and they play the major role in the family so they must refrain from anything that dimine the womanhood in the culture.kings are pointed by women.
In the old days in Ghana, we have this belief that if you educate a man you educate one person but educating a woman means you educate a whole nation. Pidgin is not decent for our ladies or women to speak.
Pidgin was banned in schools in the 60s and 70s, especially secondary schools. Few Ghanaians on the street in the cities like Accra, Tema, Kumasi and Takoradi especially boys learned how to speak it. Many parents banned their children, both boys and girls from speaking it. In the 60s, 70s and 80s pidgin was linked with gansterism.
It's not ladylike to be speaking pidgin . I come in peace before you guys swallow me😂😂😂. And mind you even if it's broken English it's a language too madam and better than pidgin because a white man will understand broken English better than pidgin . I still come in peace,no one should come and swallow me ooo 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Pidgin is a colloquial way of speaking English...and not a traditional language ..Nigeria has abandoned local language and adopted pidgin ...almost every country in the world apart from English speaking countries speak pidgin ...Pidgin is for the streets ....girls are free to speak but we ghanaians love our local languages better than English or pidgin ..
In fact another biggest problem is most of them speak it and cannot write nor read. I have met some Nigerian ladies in Italy who will just hand over a notice/ writings on a piece of paper to read and translate to them. some Ghanaians don't speak English though, but what is the essence of speaking a so called English you cannot read nor write?
🇬🇭 When a woman speaks pidgin in Ghana she's normally refer as a zongo or a hard core girl. But most girls in Ghana who found themselves sourounded by guys in their homes or hoods speaks pidgin. Ghanaian women reads a lot and they are indoctrinated that speaking pidgin English will destroy their fluent of speaking English that's why most of our Ghanaian women don't speak pidgin English.🇬🇭
Pidgin is not that much of a big deal in Ghana. It’s also a language mostly spoken by the youth and mostly in Accra. There’s no rule that excludes ladies from speaking it, it’s just not that important in Ghana. Let’s just say it’s a boys boys language 🤷🏾♂️
What is the issue with Ghanaians not speaking pidgin? What is special about Nigerian women speaking pidgin? Nobody has asked Ghanaian ladies not to speak pidgin. No man looks down on a woman because she speaks pidgin in Ghana. I am a lady and my circle of friends do not speak pidgin so the opportunity to learn pidgin has never been there, moreso pidgin has never attracted me although I have nothing against it. Speaking or not speaking pidgin is by choice.
Almost all African countries has their own pigin. Nigerians add their native language when speaking pigin and so do Ghanaians. We have American English and British English but that doesn’t mean one is better than the other. Every country enjoys it own language😂 research well before you talk my sister 😊 and for your information, pigin is the short cut of English which makes it broken 😂😅
Sorry, Nigerians never abandoned their languages. Actually, we have 3 major languages and more than 200+ dialects. So now, do you expect every tribe to learn every other tribe's dialect? And to also include the 3 major languages?? Therefore, pidgin english became the general language for everyone to speak in order to understand each other all across Nigeria, while also speaking your different dialects. Many Nigerians from other tribes also speak 1 or 2 of the 3 major languages aside from speaking their tribe's dialects. I believe it's not so with Ghana.
In Ghana we have different traditional languages also but Akan/Twi is understood by 80% thus spoken mostly…..if u speak pidgin to an elderly or higher class u will be slapped.
In Ghana pidgin is considered for the low class in society and our women are held in high esteem.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣?????!!!!
That’s right

What is the importance of Pygirm and broken English?

What is it about pidgin that women should speak it? Our ladies are well educated and prefer to speak proper.
Of all the most important things we face today speaking pidgin is what you people are bothered about?! No wonder this world is in tatters!
Ghana are not encouraged to speak pigin English in school, you can get punished for speaking non grammatical English.
Nobody stop them speaking pidgin
