  • It's time for new tires. I've been dreading this purchase and putting it off. But it is time, especially with no spare. It's go time and I don't want to be stranded on the side of the road with a blown tire.

      Don’t get them if you are trying to run hi Miles, I put them on my 7 x 16 enclosed cargo trailer. 10,000 miles they were bald and my trailer is brand new

    Had Carlisle tires from Discount Tire on my 28' travel trailer for 4 years and 2 months. Two blow outs on trip to Florida Keys and back. Definitely replace these tires if they are close to 4 years old. Put on 4 Goodyear Endurance tires on trip back to home from Florida. Not all Discount Tire Stores are the same. My local Discount Tire crew works like a NASCAR Pit Crew. Can't say that about two other out of town Discount Tire Stores, one in Florida along I-75 and the other in East Tennessee. So far very pleased with the new Goodyear Endurance Trailer Tire.

    Discount tires sucks. They did not balance my tires correctly. I had to rebalance them again. They also left my spare tire loose. Thank God it did not fall off.

    your back tires are drag tires, that's why they wore faster. all trucks and trailers with 2 axels have this issue. when you turn the back tires skid along more than the front.

    • @shanepipkin4041
      @shanepipkin4041 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      my front tires wore first. why?

    • @ArchCityCraftsman
      @ArchCityCraftsman 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@shanepipkin4041 it's probably the weight distribution on the trailer or your hitch is set to low on the truck. Try centering your weight over the axels more or when your on flat ground hitched up look and see if your trailer and truck are sitting level to the ground. If when your driving and hit a bump the trailer really seems to hit hard bumping your truck around it's more than likely to low a which as well.

    Those Carlisle sport trails aren't bad for the price. I've never been a huge fan of bias ply tires but at least they won't take out your fender when they blow out. If you are looking for the best tire in that size go with the Goodyear Endurance tires. You will pay more but you get a superior product. Stay safe out there

      What's your opinion of the Hercules ht 901 all steel tire? I hear good things about the Goodyear Endurance. Another person says the Carlisle radial trail 10 ply is excellent. I'm using them on a 5000 pound travel trailer and need a ST 225/75 R15 My current tires are Trailer Kings from 2015. They still look brand new with only 4000-5000 miles on em. Most their use was prior to 2018, had the trailer parked mostly since, just moved in the driveway a few times to now and planning a 1000 mile camping trip soon. Should I replace em to avoid possible blowouts? Thanks

    • @danielrobinson4227
      @danielrobinson4227 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hundert1
      Those Hercules should be more than capable for your trailer weight. They can hold 3195 pounds each with is overkill for your needs. Generally the safe lifespan for trailer tires is 4 years so I would definitely start looking into replacements. Only concern about putting on the Hercules brand tires is if you have a tire issue it will be difficult to find a replacement unlike the goodyears which are stocked at every Discount Tire retail store in the US.

      @@danielrobinson4227 many thanks! I'm now tending away from Hercules. Carslile sounding better especially since supposedly they from USA , South Carolina or Tennessee or something like that. I also am told the Hercules were DEFINITELY overkill from China for a 5000 pound trailer. I agree it's wisest to purchase tires that are readily available throughout the entire USA. I had the gentleman working at my truck dealer look at my 2015 Trailer Kings and he says he'd put em on his horse trailer that sits most of the time if I got rid of em. He says I got another year or more and 5000 or more miles to go on em. He spotted a little minor cracking on one side near the tread and said that minor cracks are normal and to look out for cracks in the tread part and along the sidewalls. A tire salesman from Northern State Tires in Redding, California over the phone told me that tires rot from the inside if not used much cuz the oils in the rubber don't get activity and activated much and he'd recommend replacing mine and says the Hercules 901 all steel tire is much better than the Goodyear Endurance. So I'm in a dilemma 😫 I'm not a speeder and not an overkill over do it person but I'm DEFINITELY not into under doing it or not being super safe and I DEFINITELY don't want a blowout. Does Discount Tire also sell Carlisle Radial Trail HD? How does that one compare and stack up against the Goodyear Endurance? Thank you

    • @danielrobinson4227
      @danielrobinson4227 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Hundert1 yes Discount Tire does sell the Carisle Radial Trails however they normally do not stock them and have to special order them (1-2 day delivery) and also to note the all goodyear endurance tires are made in USA and some Carlisle Radial Trails are made in China. Between the two I would rank the goodyear higher in quality however the Carlisle will be a bit cheaper per tire.

    Those are the tires I had on my dump trailer, to be honest they are really bad tires. They are not good under load and wear badly, only lasted 4k mile. I've got some transeage 14ply tires now and they are awesome! They might work out better for you they just didn't for me.

    Bought a set of these in 2015 and just ordered a new set for next year a couple weeks ago. They are good tires however I went with the radial trail HD since it has better heat dissipation on the highway. Either way never had an issue with the bias ply

    • @ThriftyGarage
      @ThriftyGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      How many miles does your trailer see each year? I believe bias ply tires are better on trailers that sit most of their life and are only driven infrequently.
