    Pro tip: When felling trees, leave 6 ft tall coming out of the ground. You then have nice leverage to push and pull with when digging them out. Can be cut shorter when you get them out of the ground.

    Hey Biff, just a quick thought on that curl cylinder....
    is there any reason you couldn`t just pull the pins out of the cylinder, then rotate the cylinder 180 degrees so that the lines are on the topside instead of the bottom? I haven`t looked at mine yet, so i don`t know. I would think it would protect the fittings and hoses alot better if they were on the topside for the kind of work you`re doing. Or maybe weld a couple half rounded steel protectors close to the fittings to act as a guard (?) Kinda to the effects of those steel guards they weld around wheel valve stems to protect the stems from getting hit.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure if you could but idk if you’d want to either as it may bend the cylinder easier if you bend it around. In any event tho I plan to build a gusset for that hydraulic bung on the ram so it can protect the line if it ever happens again. I’ll prolly make a video on it when I do it 👍🏻

    Hey, also wanted to let you know, in January, they are now FINALLY going to have the soft cabs available for the BX23s! They called me back to let me know. I was going to buy one of their regular BX cabs like yours and modify it to fit the BX23s, but due to the ROPS being taller on the BX23s, i would have had to do a huge amount to it to make it work, so they told me to hold out for its release. Nice to know that they will have them for us BX23s owners now. We got on the list as a first customer when they called us back. They are gonna throw in the heater and wiper options for us too. Can`t wait to get the HEATED cab on ours. These brutal NY winters are taking a toll on me because i`m alot older now and i just can`t handle the cold like i use to. Gettin old ain`t for sissies, lol. Iv been extremely happy with this tractor, I bought it used with under 300 hours on it 4 years ago and I now have almost 900 hours on it and it’s never failed me/let me down, or not completed a job I had it do.. it may take longer on big jobs so keep that in mind but it always gets the Job done and the more you use it the more efficient you’ll become with it. I noticed you do a lot of grading. Do you think the Agrifab roller would work with compacting the soil or just a waste of money?

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey David, a roller certainly wouldn’t hurt.. tho in most cases I can get away with just tracking back and forth over it with the tractor to pack it down. A roller isn’t needed but they are helpful in getting the ground much flatter when you finish where the tires can leave divots and imprints in the ground. Also a roller is just handy to have around to keep your lawn nice and flat each spring and to help take care of ruts that you may accumulate from driving your tractor back and forth on rough ground.. so a roller def has its place.. it’s just whether or not you see yourself using it for other stuff.. if you were only buying it just for compacting areas you grade then it’s gonna depend on how much grading you to to see if it’s worth it for you or not. Hope this helps!

      @@BiffsEquipment Hey Biff, I was just wondering of you knew of a pedal mod for the BX? My GF has a new BX2680, with the mid mount mower and FEL, and yesterday she got on it and was removing brush and small trees, and she found that while mowing is not that big a deal for the reverse pedal, all the back and forth for breaking brush and small trees and pushing and dragging them around to get them where she wants them, really wears on her knee and leg, being quite painful. Is there a way to mod the reverse pedal? Hell, I would consider trying to mod it to have a reverse pedal out up front to the side, like a lot of other makes and models do, so it's a toe press for both, like a normal gas or brake pedal. That heel press seems very awkward. I would greatly appreciate any help, advice you may have. Thanks!!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@claytonwhitman2611 hmm that’s a tough one, I don’t know if any mods that can change it from a treadle peddle to a twin touch unfortunately.. you’d have to fabricate something.. though I don’t think it will be easy because of the way the linkages are setup on the Kubota.. you’d almost have to reverse engineer the reverse pedal if that makes any sense since in reverse the linkage needs to get pushed the opposite direction as the front so it would be tough to do. The only thing I can recommend is that she keeps using it and eventually she will get the muscle memory and it won’t be an issue for her anymore. Most people get use to it with in a few months and once they are use to it they love it. I’m surprised it hurts her leg because It’s actually suppose to be easier on your leg and better with fatigue as your working two different leg muscles for forward and reverse. Typically the twin touch design is the one that will make your leg tired but every person is different and maybe for her the twin touch would be better. I’ll let you know if I see any type of mod like that but Iv watched skit of Kubota content and Iv never seen it done unfortunately. Hope this helps 👍🏻

    • @claytonwhitman2611
      @claytonwhitman2611 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BiffsEquipment Thanks, yeah, I have been looking at that. One professional modder refused to consider it because of liability issues. I saw an old forum suggestion last night about making a second pedal to the right and installing a teeter-totter type mechanism to lift under the forward pedal when you press the auxiliary revers pedal. She said that the angle is awkward for her, she can't get enough leverage. Maybe she needs an extension on the pedal... I will try both I think. The teeter-totter has my attention, it seems an easy mod, and since the FEL steel hydraulic lines run under the right foot bed area, no complicated linkages to try to work in there. I will do both mods, and see what she likes best. I will let you know. Thanks again!

      Hey sorry I am just seeing your comment now buddy! I currently have my hydraulic pressure set to around 2,400lbs.. actually 2,450 to be exact from what I remember.. but it’s been a long time since Iv checked it so I’m sure it’s tapered down a touch since then. I have been running at this pressure for years now.. doing an insane amount of work and lifting extremely heavy and awkward objects with ZERO negitive affects.. the tractor and the front axle has held up like a champ.. so have the hydraulic hoses. I still don’t recommend anyone go this high with the pressure though.. also never go over 2,500lbs as the tractor starts to act funny and make some strange noises .. this is why I left mine at 2,450 just below the 2,500 mark . The attachment I used is made by “Artillian” it’s called a “stump bucket” or a “trenching bucket” on their website. It works fantastic for not only ripping out stumps but for digging long shallow trenches or transplanting smaller trees/bushes. This bucket mounts only to their fork frame so you have to buy their fork frame first, then you can get their bucket.. but once you own their fork frame you can then buy their grapple, or pallet forks as well which all attach to the same frame/fork frame. Hope this helps and lmk if you have trouble finding it.

    I have had the same issue with that curl cylinder line where it caught and loosened. I was also confused as to why it had a 90 on it. I figure I'll just run it til it breaks and correct it then! Nice work!

      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yah I really don’t get why they did that, at first I thought maybe they assembled the line backwards, cuz flipping it around would make a lot of sense to me so I’m gonna check into that. Thanks for watching!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Iv got roughly 880 hours give or take on my BX. Iv owned it for 3 maybe 4 years but bought it with about 300 hours on it.

    Do you think you could have done all that if it was a BX1870 instead? I'm considering the smaller machine because mostly it'll be a mower, but I have plenty of grading and gravel to move.

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question.. so with the 1870 or 1880 the HP is not as much of an issue.. it’s still gonna have quite a bit of power for pushing things over as well as the lifting abilities stay exactly the same so no issues there. The one problem with the 18hp version is they have smaller rear tires in the rear so you may not get as much tractive power as the 23hp version with the 26” tall rear tires. Aside from that the only other main difference would be if you planned to run a lot of rear PTO implements, such as a brush hog, rotatiller, things of that nature because the 18hp machine doesn’t have a lot of PTO HP so it may bog if you work it heavily when mowing really thick grass or using the PTO heavily but aside from those 2 things it’s the same exact machine. I have heard of guys installing the 2370’rear tires on an 1870 but you’ll have to look into that. If your able to do that then it should be pretty close to the same digging potential maybe a little less than a 2370 but the PTO horsepower will always be a bit lower.

    How much do you get for the Logs Vs cutting them down to fire wood size?

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey David, to be honest I usually help my friends out and just give it away.. tho when I do sell logs to people I don’t know I will usually sell it for $50-$70 a load delivered depending on how many I’m able to fit on my trailer at the time and how good the wood is that I’m giving to them. Hope this helps!

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I usually don’t cut them into smaller chunks mainly because every stove is different, some guys around here want them at 12” some want them at 14-16” so I usually won’t buck them up before delivering them if I’m selling them.. I like to let the home owner do that cuz if they are cut too long for their stove then they will have to recut them all anyways and it may waste a bunch of the wood.

    Fantastic working that stump bucket and knocking over that tree :) you need a bigger bash bar. Thanks for posting when are you expecting snow?

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Ross! Had a great time giving it a good workout over the weekend. We havnt got any major snow yet, couple small storms that melted with in hours but I’m thinking later this week or next week. I’m excited to plow. Thanks for watching.
      PS. I checked out your video yesterday, those snow blowers do a great job even with such thin snow, glad you had a sheer pin on hand 👍🏻

      @RossOnTheLand 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BiffsEquipment Yes it was good to have on hand. We got heavy snow all night last night and now it's going to rain. It's heavy wet and a lot thicker today. Should make for a good comparison vs the light dusting. I may have to run the PTO at full speed today. :) Thanks for watching it. Like your cab as well.

    Great work. I have a bx2380 with a stump bucket. Haven’t tried to take out a tree as large as you have but now I have some incentive. I have no counterweight when I use the stump bucket. How much do you have on the three point? And do you notice a big difference with and without?

    • @BiffsEquipment
      @BiffsEquipment  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Eric, I’m glad seeing what my Bx can do gives people some ideas on what they can do with their own tractors, that’s the great thing about youtube. As for rear ballast I have roughly 550lbs give or take of ballast, I have 8x 42lb weights plus my rear tires are filled, That’s counting the weight of my quick hitch and what not too. Having rear ballast makes night and day difference on these sub compact tractors.. it can litterally be the difference of getting a job done or not. If you watch the video link below this comment at the end I talk about what a difference my new rear ballast made on the tractor and why I feel it helps so much more 👍🏻 LINK: th-cam.com/video/xvAhNdHynDs/w-d-xo.html
