Looks good with the planking on the inside. I was looking for this kit but wasn't sure of the manufacturer. There is an Amati kit and a Artesania Latina kit that I've found so far.

Hi Greg, This is the old Artesainia latina kit, I think Martin Aalderink (viewer has the Amati kit)

@@g-kip Sorry, don`t have it, but it is on my wishlist, the chinese pirate junk, by AMATI. There are several vlogs on it in TH-cam tho.

Hi its me again . I fell into a trap . The instructions did not mention that the shape of the poop deck is not symmetrical. I had not spotted this and probably had the deck upside down. When fitted to the boat the lines of the planking were offset to the fore and aft lines about the width of a plank . A local modification will be made later with some coffee stirrers. You would be pleased to know that my caulking technique has improved with the practice and i found it easier to run one long thread fore and aft and insert small pieces of black thread in between the ends

Hi Hohn, that's a handy tip I will have to try that on the next deck I have to do, it is a fiddley process but the results are worth it. Im sure unless you are aware of the issue with the planks, it will not stand out too much.

In comparison with the "La Nina" and the "Vasa" by the same producer (Artesania Latina), the instructions for this Chinese Junk are really substandard and need improvement. I'm happy that I already built the "La Nina", where the instructions are MUCH better, and got there the experience. Especially the notion of "reading ahead" ;)

Hi, this was the old version of the kit, i believe it has now been updated.

@@g-kip Yes, I'm currently building the "new" version. The materials have been improved quite a lot, but the instructions are still on a very rudimentary level.

Hi Helmut, are you filming your build?, it would be interesting to see the differences, based on my experience with Artesania kits I presume the ply is thinner, I would suggest prior to planking the hull you sort the planks out to the same widths, there tends to be some variance they are not consistent, as I found out on both the Belem and Marie Jean (both of which were new kits)

@@g-kip I'm not filming, but I make pictures of the progress, I can share them with you if you want. The plywood is thin, yes, but most of the other wood parts feel quite good. Especially in comparison to the walnut pieces you cut out in one of your videos, this is IMHO a major step forward in the newer releases, the wood doesn't fray at all, it has clean-cut sides. Thanks for the tip with the planks, I will look out for that!

@@g-kip Hello ^^ Things are fine, just very busy at the moment, real life has a way of doing that. Still thinking about having a youtube channel to let you have a look. I am however following your progressings, and love what i see. The planking on the inside was a good idea indeed. I had to go look if Sovereign had that also, maybe a good thing it has?😁. Anyway, still looking forward to your posts, keep it up !!
