just wonderful. Always a huge huge influence in my life, and one of the most influencial musicians of the 20th century

Sasha was my grandmother's nephew and my mother's first cousin. He (and his brother, cellist, Mischa) often visited us when in New York. He was a most colorful individual and it wasn't until I was older that I realized what an important musician (and person) he was. I remember attending his 65th birthday party, which was a star-studded (but private) event, that reflected his love of food, wine, people and music. Christmas Eve concerts at Carnegie Hall were my favorite event of the year and it was truly amazing how he unfailingly turned a group of students into a professional-quality orchestra every year. I miss him to this day.

This is wonderful. Sasha Schneider was a dear friend of my father's. In fact, my father took over for Sasha when Sasha had to leave The Albeneri Trio. He helped me get my own footing in NYC as well. I remember playing for him in that wonderful loft of his, seemingly in heaven. Please check out the many recordings of The Albeneri Trio here on TH-cam and thanks for posting this tribute that I somehow missed.

thank you for providing this lovely footage. my kid will be too young to know who he is, but clips like this will at least bridge the void and provide some glimpses of yesterday and hopefully tomorrow.

I studied with Goodman and always loved what Sacha brought to the table. How is it, willy44, that you bring them together?
