    When putting the hooks in your livies make sure that if you lay the hook against the the fish that the barb is facing up if its an offset hook. Putting the hook across the fish does work but another way that hooks up better is to put the hook fore and aft by putting the point under the skin with the point coming out facing the front of the bait. Fish swallows the bait headfirst and hook doesnt fold against the bait or gets buried in the livie as can and does happen going acrosswise.

    If you get a blue swimmer crab on your rod and you have no net. So instead of lifting the crab straight up. Point your rod tip down toward the crab and swirl your line around and around a few times over the crab. And usually the line catches on the crab. Then you can lift the crab without it dropping off. It works 95% of the time and It ends up getting tangled in the fishing line.

      Thans Hilton! It was truly an experience, I couldn't believe all the random captures and the sea horse topped it off! I don't know if anyone has caught one before like that, it's a first for me at least. That PJ put up a decent fight for a PJ at least and it was big enough I didn't try to lift it

    Lately I found jewies prefer a butterflied yakka than a live one for some reason. This is with two rods out at the same time , one live and one butterflied. Might be due to the flesh being exposed and therefore tastier.

    Hey shroom, huge fan of your work and just one quick question. I’m looking into targeting jewfish, what is a cheepish reel I can get for it or what specs I should look for in it. Keep up ur work

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  ปีที่แล้ว

      How much are you looking to spend? Most reels over 50 bucks will do the job. Something like a Sienna or Sedona will catch a few. For reels, I’d look at longevity of a metal bodied reel if possible. Smooth drag too but it’s hard to quantify that

    Interesting Shark! Just wondering how you work surface lures that need the 'walk the dog' technique as I tried it and it seems really tiring for the hand, I might be doing something wrong.

    • @ShroomFishing
      @ShroomFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Lucas, it could be because you're either using too much wrist and fatiguing the hand or the gear is too heavy or imbalanced in a certain way. Try leaning the rod butt against forearm when twitching or just switch it up with side ways or down twitches
