Hi Jazer I have a question- how do you know if a song is too hard for you to learn at your current skill level?
Sometimes I pick songs to learn then find they are too hard and give up. Am I giving up too soon? How long is too long to work on a piece? Should I choose songs that are easier? Where is the sweet spot when it comes to difficulty?

G'day Jazer. I find a metronome, weither mechanical or electronic, distracting and find I can't keep time with it. So, I have placed an order for the metronome watch. Hopefully this will serve me better. Thanks for your videos.

I'll be getting one for a Christmas present to me. 😁
I've been having some issues with timing but my hearing aids need to be upgraded. They don't quite do the job now and are also malfunctioning. Mask wearing has been damaging to them.

I'd love if you had some tricks to show for async coordination, so like each hand plays it's own rhythm ( so u kinda have to split your brain in 2 :) )

I'm a senior citizen (70 this month) who discovered your tutorials last November. I have practiced the left/right hand coordination exercises in one of your earlier videos faithfully each day. It's been fun to watch my own progress! When Christmas drew near, I was very much surprised that I could play some of my favorite carols without as much difficulty as in the "pre-Jazer" years. A big plus was playing songs with a faster beat. I had pretty much been stuck with the slow songs like "Silent Night." This year, combined with one of your using chords videos, I could play simple versions of all my favorites. NOT mistake free, but real "music." Your teaching methods work for me. I was able to play the exercises in this video with just a little practice. Before, these would have been EXTREMELY difficult for me. I am so grateful that you share your gift through these posted TH-cam videos. Thank you again!

Thank you so much! I am 76 years old. Started learning 2 years ago and my progression is awfully slow, mainly because my hands coordination is soooo poor that I find learning Japanese easier.
I an going to try your coordination exercises. Hope they'll help.
One thing is sure: playing keeps my awareness and my mind up.

Merci beaucoup Jazer. As a 65 retired therapist, I watched one of your videos and went out an bought a keyboard. Seven months later I have to thank you for introducing me to music theory, since learning piano is also learning this.
I'm still working through two method books, Faber and La Méthode Rose. I have to be bi-lingual in learning music. Actually trilingual, French, British and American. I watch most of your videos and appreciate the musicality of everything you present.
This is an introduction to modes, n'est-ce pas? For those who don't know, modes are just the major scale starting on different notes of the scale.
1 - Ionian (or the major scale)
    2 - Dorian
    3 - Phrygian
    4 - Lydian
    5 - Mixolidian
6 - Aeolian (or natural minor)
    7 - Locrian
Speaking of music theory, I thought about the way we are taught scales. Most students learn the scales ascending.
Do Ré Mi Fa Sol La Ti Do
Ti becomes the leading tone leading back to the tonic, or home.
But what would happen if from the beginning someone was taught descending scales at first?
Do Ti La Sol Fa Mi Ré Do
I think that the Ti would become the leading tone moving away from home, starting on a journey. I talked with a Julliard educated Professor, who thinks this is a question for theorists. My friend who is a Professor at our local Conservatory is intrigued and we'll have a discussion over a coffee.
I start some practices by always starting my scales by descending just to add a different routine.

Hi Jazer, just wanted to say thanks for your efforts with this channel. I’ve been going through your old videos and they are a wealth of information. Greetings dear Jazer Lee, 6 months ago I started studying self-taught and I got to know this channel 3 months ago. I have done the warm-up exercises and arpeggios that you propose daily and I have noticed a very significant advance. I am 42 years old and I never thought I could play Satie's gnossienne, I have studied from 2 to 5 and well, this is exciting. Thank you for your time and dedication to give the world a little of your knowledge. Greetings from Colombia.

This is a fun crazy exercise. I started with one00 BPM on the keyboard making all the mistakes described on the video, a lot of restarts to get it right on beat following the exercise to perfection. Got to love the metronome. New on time every time. O after getting it right I increase the BPM to one hundred ten.

I am an older adult learner but was introduced to the piano as a child. I play a few cords I made into a song but don't know the cords, I sorta play a few songs taught to me, can't read music yet. I own a keyboard and a controller to use with my DAW, but I know very about music theory. I just recently came across your channel and hope to soon be playing the piano like I always wanted. I don't want to be on my death bed wishing as you mentioned in a video. Thank you for motivating me again.

I just discovered you, and so happy I did!! I’m going to practice this over and over!
Also I’m going to practice the 5 important things you mentioned in your other video for bengonners!
I did want to ask, how should the hands be positioned?
I notice the hands sometimes are positioned up where the black keys are to press the white keys, and then sometimes down to press the white keys.
    Is this for professionals?
Im thinking this is for easier transitioning with extremely difficult chords.

@Learn Piano with Jazer Lee i have question. in other channel (living pianos) that guy was telling that if you need to play notes twice, that its ALLWAYS better to use 2 fingers and and not use same finger twice. im trying to play marriage d amour aka chopin waltz and there is main melody where you play every note twice. i tried to switch fingers between each hit but its absolute fail for me. but if i hit same note twice with same finger then i have no problem. what do you think about this? should i stick with same finger strategy or i realy need to learn more complicater two finger technique. and thank you for your content. im selfthought and i realy love what you do. btw your picture on your "selfthought pitfalls" video is realy haunting me :D its very relatable because you look in that picture like "wtf are you doing" :D thank you (excuse bad english)

Try this for one day and then another exercise for another day. Keeping it varied makes for a more interesting exercise schedule and improve your piano knowledge.

What do you tell older adults about getting started on the piano? Is there an age where potential starts to wane like anything else (finger speed, etc)? Or could someone in there late 30's, 40's, or 50's get started, and do well enough?

I would like to see a video about musicians with different needs. I have hearing issues and can't look at sheet music due to epilepsy. It's hard for me to find someone who can help me as I progress towards more difficult pieces.
I have asked other teachers on TH-cam for advice but never hear back.
It's not easy to find a teacher who can accomodate where I live. I'm primarily self taught.

How much training should I have to get quite good, and for how long. Is it like 30 min/ day, or it can be event 10 min, or should be like 2-3h daily?

As someone who has been playing for 40+ yrs, it is up to you how fast you want to progress. When i started and had the time, it was 2-3hrsday. I have recently went bak to shooting pool after 30 yrs. I shoot 2-3hrs/day to get my game back.

I wonder how do I find piecees that are not too hard at the same time still challenging for me? I always choose pieces that are too hard and some too easy then I get frustrated real quick thank you

Hi these exercices are nice but why in C Major key ? It is always what we choose for beginners and it is not the best key for them. I advice the same exercices with E F#G#A# B
