Thanks for the great video! Recovery tracks, a shovel and a high lift jack is seriously necessary. I got bogged ( stupidly but that's beside the poijt) in my landy 110 to the diffs in a big 5 area. No shovel, no hilift baseplate, no winch. I was stuck for a very long time with a very sore head when the hilift handle came down on my head. It sank into black cotton mud and couldn't lift the vehicle enough to get brash mats underneath the wheels. No rope to use it as a winch. Stuck, sore and very thirsty by the time help came. The help in a 4x4 tractor promptly got stuck after the recovery and sat there for 3 weeks. I couldn't walk out because of the proximity of lion. Lesson learned.
. P.S. The first aid kit is essential as is the fire extingusher. I've needed burn treatment for myself, splnts, bandages and wound dresings for a number of fellow road users in accidents. The fire extinguisher for a camp stove accident and a burning car colision. Both times it was invaluable in saving a tent and a car. The right size is important to. A traveler to the CKGR refused to upsize his fire extinguisher and neary killed his family when his Honda CRV burnt out in dry grass on a remote jeep track. Luckily a ranger was doing a 6 week patrol and saw him. They proceeded straight to the scene where his family were sheltering in the hot shel of the vehiclesxwith a pride of lions circling them. Don't underestimate Africa, it can kil.
cant agree more...I have an extensive first aid kit, actually 2 and done many first aid courses. But my fire extinguisher is not big enough. Definitely need a bigger one and its always a good idea to have one in the front and one in the back

Your water tank inside the cab, does the water not slosh around in the tank and make a noise? 2. Your fridge in the cab, does the heat from the fridge not keep your cabin hot? 3. All good, thanks Neil. Just came out of Liuwa Plains NP in Zambia. 1. Yes, and it gets worse the emptier it gets. You get used to it... 2. Not at all, removed the cover to get rid of the heat faster. I think my window tint helps a lot. 3. 42lt, you can, for about 12hrs non stop without charging the Jackery. But that is emergency back up for me only. Will do👍😁
Looks fantastic, thank you. It was very briefly in the video but how the rear lead springs holding up? The more I look at builds with double cabs the more I think it will have to be the way to go as a family for travel. Thanks for sharing.
At one point I was obsessed with replacing the suspension, but garages in Namibia and Cape Town told me im being silly, nothing wrong with the suspension. It's still good, replaced the bushes a while ago, with polyurethane. The previous owner added an extra leave, i think that's why the rear sometimes pushes up, it wants more weight. But Im happy l. Like I mentioned, its probably not the most comfortable in the world, but not something that must be done.
Very nice video Nic, I like the fact that you have only the basics and the word many reviewers forget which you mentioned few times is budget and what you can afford (many of us in that boat (😁). Also like the basic 12v setup for lighting and fridge with the Jackery for electronics. Working on my vehicle setup and definitely want to use yours as a blue print. Aside from noise what’s the water tank issues?
Thanks Henk. The big draw back for me with the "fancier" electrical set ups, is that it takes up a lot of space. Everything you add has a compromise somewhere. 100% correct, its the noise. As long as its full no problem, but once you take a liter out...

it is a more pricey option, but I like that I dont need an extensive installation to charge by electronics. You can order directly from them in SA or at Outdoor Warehouse
It's the noise. When its 100% full, no problem but as soon as you take a liter out, the water inside is continuously moving around, bumping against the sides of the tank. And all of that noise is right behind you.

Decided against it after getting the vehicle weighed. Had to make some adjustments to remain under GVM
