I acquired a variety of bare root orchids at the H&L Agro Orchid sale recently. But, what started out originally as a reel for Instagram, has turned into a mini tutorial for my TH-cam channel, which I'm happy to share with you guys.
Today's video is perfect for the new orchid grower, as I'll be sharing a tutorial on how I mount and pot some of my new bare root orchids. I'll also be trying out something new.

Hi Precious 😊💕So nice to see you. Haven't seen you in a while. Great video. Thanks so much for the tips. I'm still trying to see what conditions work for different orchids. My phals seem to like hanging in coconut husk, my dendrobiums and oncidiums like clay pots, my vandas seem to like being hung bare root. My grammatophyllums seem to be suffering. I'm still learning how to care for them, My brassavola likes being hung on a mount getting morning sun but the cattleyas give me the most difficulty. I'm still trying to find the right conditions and watering routine for them. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Learned so much from you. Warm greetings from TnT 😎🌴☀️🤗💕
Hi Nicole, nice as always to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed my video. Sorry to hear you are having a challenge with growing your cattleyas. I used to kill them too but i have now found the secret to growing them.

Is the fern bark dold at Agro Grace? What does it look like?
Hi Alice, thanks for tuning in. I have never really seen the fern bark at Agro Grace, I recently bought some at the Manchester Horticultural Show on Labour Day. Sometimes they are sold at Liguanea Drug & Garden Centre in Kingston.
I've recently retired to Jamaica I'm so glad to discover Precious Blooms I did a marathon with the chanel and learnt a lot from you about orchids. I don't have any plants as yet I'm still doing some landscaping but realize now that I can have orchids since I don't have to plant in ground. Thanking you for your contagious energy ✨️

Hello Precious ... Yes I missed your usual monthly video!! Then I felt reassured when I saw your new video come out - quite a few days ago!!
Thank you so much for the tip on securing the orchid *ON TOP* of the media with a zip tie (I use these things to secure just about everything, but my panties!!). Ingenius!! Suddenly I find my "little orchid garden" chock full of keikis!!! And a few of them with buds to bloom soon. Most of my orchids are hanging in pots, with only a few potted in soil, or mounted .... but keikis and buds galore!! 💃 I'M IN HEAVEN!! 🎶🎵
I'm allowing some of the keikis' roots to flourish, before potting/mounting them. I'm making space now like crazy!! I only started growing orchids from late 2019 to date, and my collection is growing.

Hi friend, thank you so much for tuning in to my channel. I am happy to know that you find my videos informative. The ratio that I normally use for the hydrogen peroxide is 1 part hp to 3 parts of water. Thanks again for watching, cheers and all the best.
just watching you work in your garden reminds me how I am in mine lol, all of we planty people, I like potting my Orchids including coco chunks, coal chunks, tree fern, if the root system is finer, like with oncidiums, i use smaller chunks, hello from Trinidad and Tobago my west Indian sista. ☺️☺️

Hi Moriah, thank you so much for tuning in, I am happy you are enjoying my videos. Growphite is marketed by Evergrow Garden Centre, however you might be able to find a product with similar ingredients that can bw used as a substitute for growphite.
Hi precious I am glad for your info, I bought Catalyia 2time and this last one the roots turn brown now I dont know what to do , I put it in my garage but I am not going to stop I have four others dont rem their names they are doing well but they dont bloom as yet, I saw something coming up in the trunk of the leaves only hope it is ready for bloom, I will not stop buying small Catalyia, if they don't serve me well, I buy the large one, I am an editor to orchids but I love them.
Hi Sandra, I am assuming that your cattleya was being grown inside a pot and perhaps you overwatered it. I would not recommend you placing the cattleya inside your garage and especially if you reside in Jamaica. I find that mine do well as they are exposed to 70% sunlight. The one i placed inside the plastic basket in this tutorial is doing quite well and has given me new growth and even bloomed once. Once you get a new growth from your cattleya, as soon as it matures, it will produce blooms. Thank you so much for watching, cheers and happy growing🙌🏽☺️.

Hi Alicia, there are so many varieties of orchids but I would recommend the dendrobium species for beginners as I find them the easiest to grow. I have shared a few videos featuring this orchid which you will find useful should you decide to acquire them. I am always available to guide you along the way; please let this be your encouragement to start your collection.

Precious Blooms I would like someone to share his r her Jamaican experiences growing vanda bare rooted. I think I'm more interested in this method as it is reputed to lessen fungal infections as well as root issues among a few things. On the other hand, potting is said to lessen the need to water - a plus for the busy grower. Incidentally Ms P I met a successful grower who uses soil as his medium. I got 3 keikeis from him recently (God be praised).
Hi Diana, i do believe i shared 2 vandas that i have growing bareroot/ mounted together in one of my earlier videos. I did not really do a tutorial on them tho. I would love to meet this grower, is there any way you could assist me with making contact with him, perhaps through Instagram or facebook. This sounds very interesting, as whenever my vanda roots come in contact with soil they lose their firm green tip n those roots die after a while. If it does not come thru however I will share photos and maybe, plant one of the keikeis in a similar manner. I spent a lot of time researching the matter but all the experts recommend orchid barks, coal and pebbles. No soil.
