Hi everyone, I made one of these but made it bigger, finished project is 12-1/2Hx11Wx11D. I'm going to include the measurements (in inches) I used if anyone wants bigger but doesn't want to do the math. I did mine based on both the shelf I wanted it to fit on and being able to use 12x12 paper. Thanks Sam for the design and for the tip about the glue gun, it really helps! Measurements: Lid and base (1 ea.): 11X11 Sides (2): 12Hx10D Back (1): 12Hx10-3/8W Shelves (5): 10Wx9-5/8 D Drawers, large (3): - base (3) 9-7/8Wx9-1/2D, front (3) 2Hx9-7/8W, back (3) 1-3/4Hx9-7/8W, sides (6) 1-3/4Hx9-5/16 Drawers, small (3): - base (3) 9-7/8Wx9-1/2D, front (3) 1-1/2Hx9-7/8W, back (3) 1-1/4Hx9-7/8W, sides (6) 1-1/4Hx9-5/16 Details, issues, materials: - I used 12X12 craft paper rather than card; 3 sheets each of 4 designs, 2 sheets each of 2 other designs. 3 of the three sheet sets were just for decorating the inside and outside of the drawers not including the front or bottom of them and it took every scrap I had. If you don't decorate the drawers other than the front, even fi you do the inside not the outside, it's a lot less paper. Dollar store foam board, 5 20x30 sheets. Beacon 3 in 1 glue for the paper, 1 and a half 4oz. bottles (Walmart $9ea). Hot glue for the foam (about 10 glue sticks, dollar store). Foam and buttons for the drawer pulls secured by non expanding gorilla glue. -Because you are gluing more shelves to the sides you have to work stupid fast to get the sides on. I recommend keeping all the drawers in place while gluing the sides on (and maybe mark where you want them to go with pencil or masking tape) as I only kept some in and the second side was in the wrong place, I had to tear it apart and do it again. I also cheated a bit, on two shelves I didn't glue along the entire length, shelf 2 and 4 I only glued at each end and the center. -The score tape didn't work for me at all. Luckily I didn't use it on the drawer fronts (I folded the paper over into the inside and glued it) but I attempted it where the side paper attaches to the front and it just isn't sticking (as I expected), I've glued it best I can. If I did a second project I would decorate the sides before gluing on the shelves and wrap the paper inside the cabinet a half inch. This would allow me to glue it and get a better hold, plus it means your drawers don't have to be perfectly placed to avoid seeing the bare white foam on the inside of the cabinet. -I cut my foam board with a rotary cutter and metal ruler, works well but can crush it if you aren't careful to cut properly. I also tried an Exacto (utility) knife and that worked well but of course you need a surface to cut on that won't be harmed, I didn't want to hurt my cutting mat that badly. Just finished yesterday so of course can't speak to it's longevity but it seems solid enough.
In hindsight, a good option would be to cut the sides and back in half, do a center platform, and then do your two shelves above and two below. That would make the gluing much easier and I wish I'd thought of it two days ago.
I absolutely love this little box! Thank you for all of the clear instructions and measurements! That helps so much ! I live in the US and im so glad it reached here!!!!😊😊😊
This storage box is so pretty and elegant. Love that they are customizable. I just love everything you do. Also, I think this is your prettiest ring yet🙂
Sam just wanted to say this is absolutely stunning 😮you have used such a beautiful paper ❤and your hard work has absolutely paid off .has you said 😅it would make an amazing gift for someone special I absolutely love this and so thankful for you sharing your tutorial with us. Thank you once again for sharing sending you big hugs 😊😊😊😊❤❤xx
Thank you Sam. I have just discovered your TH-cam tutorials... you are amazing and so clever!!! I have made quite a few of the pop cards and I'm going to give this a go... thanks again so much!!🤗👍❤️
Oh m goodness! Hi from New Hampshire in the states! So beautiful Sam! This is an amazing idea! Completely customizable to be any size, any theme, child adult, boy or girl. Literally the sky’s the limit! I’m so inspired, thank you thank you thank you!
great tutorial. Re: lumpy bits of glue that ooze out. I like to take a piece of scrap foam and use it like a spatula while the glue is still nice and hot and it almost works like caulk to fill in the cracks.
Love this project Sam! If you added silver cardstock for a mirror (to make a tiny dresser) it would make a perfect gift idea for a little girl. I'm addicted to watching your channel! Watching from Gilbert Plains, Manitoba Canada 💗
Beautiful project... When I made up the Christmas Advent drawer box I used large half pearls for feet on my f/b page.. ... I might have to buy some foam board... I do have Acid free board but that is for lacing my x stitching ready for framing... Thank you for sharing these cute drawers/shelves...
Wonderful Sam. I am definitely going to make this. I make at least 90% of your projects and they all turn out beautifully thanks to your wonderful instructions. Can’t wait to try this! Happy New Year! TFS! ❤️👍👏
I love this! Thanks so much, Sam. Such a handy, versatile piece. I gave it a go. It turned out "ok", but not gifting quality. I will try again sometime. I am happy to say that I found 1000mil Collall here in the US. Pricey, but happy to have it.
This is such a beautiful project! I can see this on my dresser holding my jewelry and miscellaneous odds and ends. I also love your paper choice - so elegant.
What a start to the New Year. I’m adding it to project list. I bought foam board for a different use but had lots left over, so perfect as u. Thank you. By 💁
Wow wow wow! You did it Sam, I'm so glad you made something for the inks. Think of all the possibilities of matching storage. It would also make a lovely jewelry box as well. I've just ordered some foam board with my xmas money, gonna give it a whirl x
I love your excitement as this was coming together! I get the same way when a project is turning out and I get exactly what I wanted. It’s so fun to hear others get just as excited about their results. ❤️ this is a very lovely project and I can see turning them into jewelry boxes for little girls!!
