Porteau Cove Tire Reef

Sahar and Robert head to Porteau Cove to check out the tire reef there. Approximately 700 car and truck tires were placed on the ocean floor at a depth of 10 metres in the 1972 to create an artificial reef.
Porteau Cove is located on the Sea to Sky Highway 45 minutes north of Vancouver. This is an excellent site for new divers, with lots of life and other things to see.
The visibility was good today. We saw several lingcod, a few rockfish, loads of perch and decorator crabs, but the octopuses are currently hiding from the sea lions who have taken up residence on the ferry dock.
