    Great video. Thanks for sharing. I have the same tent and stove, and they have worked out great for my trips. I am surprised that you did not need to rake out the dry needs from under the stove. I have had hot coals fall out of the front of my stove several times. I am currently looking for a good matt to put under my stove. Thanks again.

      Thank you! I absolutely love this tent and stove set up. I’ve used them many times in a long different weather and have always been pleased with its performance. I did end up clearing away some of the debris before going to bed, more as a “just in case” I knocked any coals out while restocking the stove. I’ve been looking for a good fire resistant mat as well but haven’t liked any of the ones I’ve tried. Please let me know if you find a good one! Thank you again for watching and reaching out!

    I actually just bought this same hammock hot tent AND the same wood stove! The hammock hot tent is going to be delivered tomorrow, the wood stove should be here in a few weeks. Although I got the biggest version of this stove, the one that has a couple extra inches of length, width, and height. It also weighs a few pounds more, 8.6lbs instead of 6.6lbs. I'm just curious, which version you went with, and if you are happy with it??? I was going to go with a more expensive brand, but after reading the specs and reviews I decided it should be a good choice. Especially considering it was a few hundred bucks less! If you have any advice or thoughts on it, please let me know?? Great video! I love bringing my dogs camping with me too.😁😎🇺🇸🦅👊💪

      Awesome question! In short, I think you’ll be very happy with this set up! I have the Danchel TSG 6.6lbs version and a couple of their smaller versions as well. They make unbelievably great stoves! I’ve tried other brands and keep coming back to their stoves. If I had to nitpick, I do think getting the 8.6lbs version would be a good choice. The extra box size will give you more burn time and will, likely, fit some store bought wood bundles, if you wanted to go that route and save some time on wood cutting. One tip on the roll out stove pipe, (this is true for all titanium roll out stovepipes, not just Danchel’s) the first time you roll it out, flip it over and tightly roll it back in the opposite direction. Make sure to do this on a very flat surface. This will help flatten it out before you try to roll it into the pipe shape. Take your time…it is going to fight you and be very frustrating. It’s important to not crinkle it. It will take some time to get it rolled into a good clean pipe shape. Once you get it rolled and the rings on and do your first burn with it, it will go into that pipe shape much easier in the future. Again, that’s been my experience with every roll out titanium pipe stove out there, not just theirs. Last tip that I’ve got, invest in a good sleep system with a quality under quilt and top quilt. Don’t rely on trying to keep the stove going all night. I value my sleep too much to get up every 2 hours and re stock a stove. I hope this helps and apologize for the long response. Thank you so much for watching my video and reaching out!

    • @oldsouthernpine
      @oldsouthernpine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks man, i really appreciate that! Can’t wait to see your hot tent video! Best advice i can give is to have more wood than you think you’ll need. Be ready to do some cutting (most precut bundles are too long to go in a tent stove) and be prepared to be addicted! Hot tent camping is amazing. Oh, and have a good, warm sleep system. Don’t rely on the stove to burn all night. They need fed about every hour. I like sleeping too much to get up every hour to feed the stove. Thanks again, bud!

      Man, I forgot one of the things I wish I’d known when I first started! Get a titanium stove with the roll out titanium stove pipes or if you get a steel sectional stove pipe, make sure you buy the attachment that inverts the pipes and funnels any creosote into the stove and not down on the outside of the pipe. I smoked myself out of a few tents before I learned that. Hope that saves you some headache!

      Shrek is a great movie, no shame in that, brother! We named Fiona from the feminine Gaelic term for “white”, loosely translated to “white lady”. Also in French “Fille” which means “girl”.

    Underneath that stove that’s dangerous

    • @oldsouthernpine
      @oldsouthernpine  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I definitely appreciate your concern. I recommend always digging out to bare ground under a fire source. On most stoves, I would have dug that out to bare ground but the stove I’m using does a good job of keeping most of the heat off the bottom. Still though, it’s always better to put safety first and not risk anything.
