This was the first song I ever heard from them. At the time, my father was a pastor of a tumultuous church, and while he meant well, we all suffered for it, to the point where the church didn’t help when we lost our house and were living in a Motel 6. One night a repeat of the episode of SNL Arcade Fire were on played, and they played “Intervention” first. When Win sang “working for the church while your family dies” it felt like someone out there finally understood what I was going through. Later that summer, I bought Neon Bible, and almost 15 years later, I’m still in love with this band. PS- I was lucky enough to hear them play this live, it was breathtaking.

@whiskeyclones me too! My mother was a church organist and is very “religious” more like self righteous… anyway yes I felt the same way when I heard this song years ago. My little baby sister has even lost her mind. Religion hurt my family.
@@joemoe1906 This line also hit me hard. My dad is an associate pastor at a large church and suffered so many abuses. He takes home all the anxiety and depression of the situation, and we all feel it.
I saw them on SNL too! I've been searching for years for the video but I don't think it's on TH-cam, and I can't remember who the host was. I just remember The Arcade Fire was amazing. At first they seemed a little nervous, but then they all started moving in unison and it was mindblowing.

One of their most underrated, but certainly one of my top five AF songs. They only did it three times in the 14 AF shows I've been to. This is magnificent.
Something very magical about the cathedral organ, how it sounds.

Like a lot of people here this was the first Arcade Fire I ever heard and I was stunned by it. Epic in every way - lyrics, music, arrangement, performance. Just incredibly emotional. I must have listened to this song a dozen times over the first day after hearing it. To this day it is a benchmark of how good pop music can be.
The first time I heard this song, I was sitting in bed with headphones on, it was love at first sight, if I remember correctly, I spent about two hours repeating the song!❤
La primera vez que escuché a Arcade Fire me voló la cabeza, no podía entender tanta potencia y maestría en el escenario. Me hicieron compañía en un viaje a Europa y desde ahí amo su música. Los he visto 2 veces en vivo y ahora quiero que vengan a Chile para ir con mi familia y disfrutar de la reacción de mi hija de 8 años que ya es fanática de ellos. Intervation es una de sus mejores canciones y tiene el sello sagrado de Arcade Fire.

Any Chance of Arcade Fire at Hurricane 2018?
As a true Bible believing Christian, who, because of my faith in Jesus, got forsaken, abandoned, and cast out of the church in my area, and even having done volunteer work for music ministry at the time for two churches, I love this song. God began to show me how alot of people are just working for religion, instead of knowing Jesus Christ, which is what Christianity was supposed to be about. Religion destroys much of the destiny's that God has planned for people. No matter how hard I gave and tried, religion just pushed me away harder and harder.
