@UCnZVICLuTbhDYdXYUh697Uw That’s fine if you like all that but at that point they should just create a new IP instead of alienating the fanbase that made AC popular. Origins is the perfect blend for old and new fans because it stays faithful to the older games atmosphere with new and refreshing gameplay but instead of expanding on bayeks story or creating a sequel with aya which is how it should have been for origins, they just make an entire game with a title that has nothing to do with the game. Odyssey is decent overall but very average at best when you compare it to other RPG games like The Witcher 3 or the Souls series.
@@jaym5118 Odyssey’s world is boring, every single place looks identical, and though Valhalla is guilty of that too, it at least has variation. You can’t interact with anything in the world, no sitting down, no social stealth, no little activities and so on unlike Valhalla. The story and modern day is far more interesting in Valhalla, with things being explained, and things set to come. Odyssey was dull by comparison. It’s DLC was also a complete joke, which also ruins lore, such as Darius performing the leap of faith before it was established by Bayek. Or the next one being a boring civil war, or collect armor in the Hades one. The Atlantis one had you just running around doing tasks for a knowledge meter. And the whole thing was just a simulation that may or not even happened and overall it was just a complete grind and waste of time. The combat is grindy, floaty, and too magical in Odyssey. You can make Eivor of either gender how you want, and to be honest, they both are better looking than Kassandra and Alexios. Odyssey might do some things better, but I just think Valhalla is far better overall.
I’m 110 hours into Valhalla and loving the game (bugs aside), but for some reason, I think I like Odyssey more. Something about the Greek theme in the game that really captivated me.
Yeah, I think that might be the issue with new AC. They make games that are slow-paced, but are loved because of the setting. Some love Odyssey's setting, some hate it, and this shows in reviews. It's a problem because people don't see actual quality as much and tend not to critique the games due to their loved settings. I think Origins was amazing but I wanted Odyssey to be better because I've been to the Minotaur's labyrinth irl, yet I realized that on an objective level Odyssey was worse. I've studied Vikings in detail, I've done courses about the Vikings and Anglo-Saxon/early Norman Britain, I'm English and part Norwegian, so I hope I'm not blinded by love and knowledge for the setting, I hope I can make my decisions looking in more factual ways to do with the actual game itself. Guess I'll have to wait and see how much I like Valhalla as a game rather than historical experience.

@@Sirmisfits1 Do y’all not realize some people are less fortunate than others? Not only that it’s hard to get my hands on a series X or ps5 in my town.
To me it just feels like Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla mark a new era of Assasins Creed - a better one. The "old" style was just...old after 12 years and 7 games or so. Now it is more action and story driven and ist just much more fun. The first games became highly repetetive until a point where I did not want to play them anymore.
I have played almost all the Assassin's Creed and agree. But Assassin's Creed Black Flag was the old and AMAZING. The two follow up main games were crappy as crappy can be. Unity and Syndicate were hard to actually beat for me. Unity was so awful with play control and modeling it was actually amazing it got released. Even when I got the patched version it still had modeling errors at times. So far I am playing Valhalla and have to say the play control is not there. I am playing it on a PS5 and when you hit the left bumper to black sometimes it goes to screen capture. Other times you delay your actions. It's just not as smooth as Origins and Odyessey which were a return to form. This one has a beautiful surrounding but the play control is bad.

Haven’t played Valhalla yet but Origins was amazing, loved it so much, and Odyssey has been ok, just a little artificially stretched out for me. I absolutely loved Odyssey. I platinum’d the game in a month. But Valhalla has such a more lively connection to Eivor and other NPC’s that Odyssey didn’t do
Hahah, the best was Origins. Then you will notice the repetitive and recycled things. I see AC Vallhala, and I see Origins. Ubisfit didn't try to improve. Origins was really good because it was the first to renovate the Saga to a RPG.
@@adaalonso I’m playing both Origins and Odyssey and I can say I feel more of an emotional connection with the characters than Odyssey. Odyssey is fun but feels less in terms of character development.
Valhalla really fixed a lot of my main issues with Odyssey. It's far less grindy, has a more focused story, and the combat feels much more weighty and impactful. Plus, it brings back one-shot assassinations.
I don’t care that much about realism, idgaf if someone throws themselves off a cliff and doesn’t break their legs, I just feel that with a series literally called *assasins* creed, the assassination part should be more realistic

Valhalla was masterful, loved the game and got me back into the franchise. Put around 100 hours into Odyssey, along with Valhalla and they are equally incredible. I'm still not done with either of them and managed to pickup AC Origins on sale. My PS5 feels like it's a dedicated AC Creed Console now, considering how much space these games take up in total.
I loved the explored mythology, culture, and history! I don't know why you do not do a comparison on that! I love fighting mythical beasts in Assassin Creed Odyssey!
The navy battles were a nice touch in odyssey. Fun fact, navy battles were perfected during the Greco-Persian wars, which is why Athens started building lots of triemes. In those days during the battle of salamis and then the Peloponnesian war
Yeah, it begins with myth about ''wooden walls will save you''. Some folks build wooden walls around Akropol and endend horribly.... others builded boats.
One small note : Odyssey was set before Origins, so the blade would not be there as it was introduced in Origins. So technically it wasn't removed, it just wasn't there in the story.
In odyssey you could easily insta assassinate almost every enemy except bosses. You just need to get your skills and gear right. You obviously didn't spec as assassin.
Yes you can if you have the right perks and gear did you have access to the dlcs? I never even played as an assassin I liked building up a crowd and going on a murder rampage but i remember having good assassin gear my roommate made an assassin set up with that wrecked we played on harder difficulties as well
Exactly. I’ve seen this exact complain in a yotubers video only to see they’re using gear 20 levels too low and not even buffing their assassination damage output through their selected gear. I did 2 play through a of oddeesy, the 2nd was only started after I reached max lvl. Never did I have an issue with instant assassinations unless I just completely ignored my stats and gear.
You still can't assassinate enemies who are at a much higher level, which destroys stealth. A lot of people don't like playing boring side missions, so they're not always going to be at the right level or have top gear.
I just wanna say how impressed I am by the these maps. They're incredibly gorgeous and since Origins I genuinly enjoy running around in places where I think this could make a great screenshot. Climbing onto Pyramids, statues of Greek gods or just some castle on a huge hill. The lighting the scenery everything just comes together so well it's absolutely amazing.
4:10 I don't think there's much of a size difference in playable land when you consider the fact over half of Odyssey's map is just Mediterranean Sea and there's a huge inaccessible mountain range on northern west.
I am a fan of both games and have played both for over 200 hours, I believe Valhalla is the superior game. There appears to be a lot more to accomplish in the game. It might also simply be my own preference when it comes to raiding and the game's historical period. Assassin's Creed games have always been a favorite of mine. Although I believe that Odyssey is more aesthetically pleasing than Valhalla, I believe that Valhalla is a better developed game overall.
Thank you! Finally someone who has taste! Yes Odyssey is in my top 10 as well! Great game with beautiful graphics! The combat is better than valhalla !

Not sure if they added this later but Odyssey you can also upgrade your weapons and armor. I used the same weapon and armor almost until level 50. After that I changed to a more convenient setup as my skill and abilities isn't so much reliant on pure dps and armor, as I can parry and dodge like a demi-god now.
I really enjoyed Odyssey. The only problem was the size, not just because of it being too big, but that in most islands the tasks were very similar so it became very repetitive. I also found the ending to be a bit vague. But it was atill a fantastic game and story. Thinking of getting this one but might wait for price drop.. Hmmm...
This is an extremely trivial detail but something I appreciated a lot about Oddessy is that if you fall from a distance far enough that damages you substantially Alexios/Kassandra limps for a moment, revealing the leg injury. Haven't noticed this detail in Valhalla it may be there ot may not but I think it's a really good detail.
I think the Character animations when talking to them was so much better in Odyssey, you grew to care about the side characters like Sokrates, Alkibiades, Phoibe, Barnabas, Herodotos, Brasidas, Myrrine etc but in Valhalla, you don't get an attachment to anyone cause the story is so bland, the revenge storyline captivated you, you felt Alexios/Kassandra's hate and emotions in the game, and the bright colourful landscapes just made you soak it all in. while in vahlhalla your spending so much time running around aimlessly in a dull foggy world with no interesting side characters at all.
Also, I think Kassandra was a much better character than Eivor. Sure Kassandra isn't the most dynamic and charismatic protagonist we've played, like Ezio for example, but I find after 60 hours in the game, Eivor is a lump of a human with nothing remarkably likeable or memorable about their character. If you're going to have a game set in a country as dull and as flat as England, then at least have the characters be entertaining. Eivor arrives in England, slaughters the indigenous population because they're in her way and doesn't say a thing, yet she stumbles across a unfriendly nun and does everything to help her. England is an interesting country and rich in history, but it's not our land that makes it so, it's the characters born here that pushed this country into the biggest empire and cemented its place in history. But the game hasn't translated any of that. I have to play as a blonde Norwegian mumbling and grumbling her way through the map.
@@benedictbadminton4993 All the more disappointing that Eivor was given a flat character. So many different departments done amazing work, but unfortunately a lot of people will only remember the boring story in this franchise.

Only thing I miss in Valhalla is beautiful locations like Odyssey, Valhalla is great but Odyssey has a special place in my heart
But the whole story of valhalla is better
I played all ac games , though ill say that AC origins was a bit of all 3 last ones and AC 1 2 3 and 4 black flag are classics.

They don't use the same game engine and don't have similar gameplay and World so it's not comparable
I miss the conquest battles from Odyssey. It was just destroy everything in sight. Such a blast.
AC Odyssey is amazing! Top 10 of all games
Thank you! Finally someone who has taste! Yes Odyssey is in my top 10 as well! Great game with beautiful graphics! The combat is better than valhalla !
WTF
@@bloodbag2961 They got no idea what Assassin's creed is about and wtf they are talking about. They just play it for graphics. And prolly they are fornite lover

Haven't noticed this detail in Valhalla it may be there ot may not but I think it's a really good detail.
in origins there was already that animation.
and there is that detail in valhalla
I think the Character animations when talking to them was so much better in Odyssey, you grew to care about the side characters like Sokrates, Alkibiades, Phoibe, Barnabas, Herodotos, Brasidas, Myrrine etc but in Valhalla, you don't get an attachment to anyone cause the story is so bland, the revenge storyline captivated you, you felt Alexios/Kassandra's hate and emotions in the game, and the bright colourful landscapes just made you soak it all in. while in vahlhalla your spending so much time running around aimlessly in a dull foggy world with no interesting side characters at all.
so sunny beaches fun. fog and snow not fun thanks
@@Meowzers1250 eivor had more interesting voice acting tho. The girl
@@benedictbadminton4993 All the more disappointing that Eivor was given a flat character. So many different departments done amazing work, but unfortunately a lot of people will only remember the boring story in this franchise.
@@Meowzers1250 Actually You could be a blonde, Red head, Light brown or dark brown haired mumbling and grumbling Norwegian in the game... Just saying. Lol
"All n all there's very little distinction"
Valhalla in my eyes is an insane improvement graphically
Imo the water in both games are *some of* the best looking waters in any game

Rdr2 is my favorite game, but I like the water in AC more.

I still believe that one day ubisoft will surprises us with one of the greatest games ever, All of their games have a good potential but they always lack something
I think ubisoft plays it safe for the most part. They never seem to push boundaries in terms of innovations. Their games games are never terrible but never amazingly good.
@@steffon563 basically this, for example on watch dogs 2 the game is amazing, sure it has some boring collectibles and the story is kinda meh, but the world they did is amazing and the gameplay is really fun. But then you see legion...

Valhalla felt a downgrade on some things from odyssey
Valhalla looks better in my opinion but i do like the colorful world of Odyssey
Yeah i agree. But i do understand that it's due to valhalla is newer release and odyssey has lighter tone.
Valhalla is also during the dark ages so it wouldn't fit at all with the colourful theme.

in horse riding in city scene i captured a tiny detail. in valhalla, people dodging the horse make a hard stepping sound because of the sudden movements they make, chad level detail.
I'm glad Eivor isn't an actual assasin from the group, in the end, this is a story of modern day ppl trying to find artifacts that have gone through so many hands in history and its cool to finally have someone as an MC who is not actually an assasin
Edward Kenway:what?
Odyssee is amazing masterpiece. One of the best games I have ever play....
Love your Direct Comparison videos as I always are wanting to know how two games might compare. You do this very well. Impressed
The voice actor for Kassandra was excellent! She really set the bar high, IMO. I have yet to find an AC protagonist that I liked as much as her. This is why Odyssey will always be in my top 5. I also loved exploring 17th century France in Unity and the Industrial Revolution in Syndicate.
I’m enjoying Valhalla right now - at least 15 hours in - but I honestly had more fun playing Odyssey.
Odyssey was the worst AC game I ever played, I've been playing since the start, I've just started Valhalla and it's a breath of fresh air even after Odyssey
I never really understood the amount of hate these games get, they may not be similar to other AC games but are really awesome and ambient open-worlds
I liked both games a lot, but IMO, Odyssey's music was much better. Especially the title screen music.
The music in Odyssey man..
Ugh, eeew.
Music in Odyssey was non existent. Maybe 2 memorable tracks. Valhalla is superior in this case.
@@Mulisak I feel completely opposite, I feel the same way about Valhalla's music, In Odyssey I was blown away from the starting screen music and consistenetly through out, Valhalla's just felt bland in comparison.
@@Mulisak You're drunk dude.
I was wondering when Nick930's direct comparison video would pop up. Great comparison as always! For me Valhalla is definitely an overall improvement from Odyssey as a whole package.

Recently bought origins from steam sale, completed it and fell in love. About a week ago i got Odyssey and it's so good. Beautiful world, scenery. Great combat. Sea is beautiful and fun to sail. Big variety of weapons and animals etc.
“Not as much to do in Odyssey” dude there’s like 500 ? Locations, I’ve done all of them took like 160 hours of gameplay
And all 500 locations you did the exact same thing over and over again. Having repetitive tasks is not the same
@@Nick930 I’m not sure how true that is. I found the game to come with a pretty diverse line of quests all around Greece. My issue is you have to stick to the cities in order to have structured gameplay, other then that countryside environments and “hidden quests” are repetitive. It honestly reminds me of old Bethesda games in that way. But I definitely would never say every location was the same
They are copy pasted
@@quaza2001 So textures are copied and pasted throughout the AC series. If that's your issue then I agree. However, I would still say Odessey had a fun line of quests that were mostly unique and had good writing imo.
@@quaza2001 yes they are
Valhalla is the most beautiful Ac game, change my mind. it looks stunning. att many times I've found myself simply admiring the beautiful world that Ubisoft have created.
11 months ago and i still agree with you, valhalla and origins has a place in my heart, mannn the hidden ones stuff
You can see the reflection of the world on Eivor's eyes its such a cool detail
Nobody
Literally nobody
Nick930: compares nostrils of both characters.
I’m currently playing Odyssey and haven’t played Valhalla but the thing I’d give odyssey the edge for is it’s setting. Ancient Greece is amazing and how it opens up with you playing as the true king, Leonidas is just perfect. I was into Greek history before but this game really just drove me completely into it and I ended up watch both 300 movies because of it again
IT s a master of choice. I find the Valhalla setting with the Viking era much more interesting then ancient Greece. (i am also a huge fan of Viking :) )
The snow thing was even in back in assassin's creed 3. Probably one of the only good things about 3 besides the sea part which became a mainstay despite not really fitting the rest of the game
As much as Valhalla improved than Odyssey, I can't say I like it more than Odyssey
please elaborate on this.
after 450 hrs in Odyssey and 150 in Valhalla... I have yet to find any improvement.
assuming they give us one-handed swords (which will finally make the dual wielding an improvement) and cost-free pause menu accessible transmog that doesn't cost 50 silver and isn't lock to the bumbling fool blacksmith that rarely improves the visuals which is basically his one job since stats and runes effects aren't really noticeable...
Valhalla feels so empty to Odyssey,
the stats system that allowed for acher, warrior and assassin builds in gone...
the map is smaller and has less to do...
more than half the armor in Valhalla is locked behind a paywall and the majority of them are big clonky and ugly. not sleek rogue theif armor.
sure... its a great story and its still AC and its making me like Vikings which I never had interest in... the gameplay is so terrible compared to Odyssey.
the stealth from Tenchu,
(taking down forts with espionage)
the mythology from Onimusha,
(fighting mythical beasts)
the politics from Way of the Shinobi
(your actions effect those in power)
the battlefields from Samurai Warriors,
(fight battles in the Pelopinesian War)
the RPG choices from Way of the Samurai,
the customization and exploration from Skyrim
You can knock out any soldier in the game and make them a crew member.
all packed into one game.
So basically you can be a pirate, assassin/theif, warrior/spartan/gladiator just by your armor set and current actions.
What could possibly be better?
ok, the video just mentioned the healing system. that i can admit is the only improvement of Valhalla I can think of...
@@ak-nt2tr help me in choosing one : origins, Odyssey, Valhalla ✌️
@@Dk-ol9xt why can't you beat them all?
Egypt, Greece and Northern Europe are all beautiful rich history settings all with amazing stories and combat systems.
If I had to choose one,
Valhalla has as amazing combat system with dual-wielding and also new exploration features add such as keys, locks, barred doors, secret entrances and sunken treasure under ice.
Origins has the best bows where you could equip 2 at once.
but with all of this taken into consideration
nothing in gaming is more rewarding than Odysseys build system and the freedom to make differ types of warriors, archers, and assassins.
Valhalla's skills, weapons, and combat were so much worse. There is hardly any noteworthy improvements in Valhalla, but several things that were made much worse.
I am satisfied to see that Valhalla doesn't disappoint but I don't see myself being bored by my trident-wielding chosen of gods anytime soon. Those kill animations are sweet!
it feels like Valhalla is the older brother of Odyssey
As odyssey is to origins.
