The Buddha in the Attic sounds great. I bought it. Spent 3 days in a hospital room this week, just old person related sodium level problems making one wobbly, those beds make your back ache when you are used to walking on a tread mill twice a day. I usually watch you when walking on my tread mill, and I was able to complete this video today while walking.😅
After your mention of The Buddha in the Attic, I read and thoroughly appreciated it. The format was wonderfully effective in presenting a broad view of the experiences of the picture wives. Definitely a book that I won’t forget soon.
You are really flying through lots of great books. I have actually found something which I am finding an excellent read. Clear by Carys Davies. It’s 152 pages so shorty September and a rare treat.
I'm so happy to hear you enjoyed Buddha in the Attic. Julie Otsuka is one of my favourite writers. I haven't read it in a while so I don't recall the ending - perhaps a re-read is called for.
The last chapter is told from a different point of view, not the women but 'the neighbors' which just didn't work as well for me. And I will check out more of Otsuka's books for sure!
I’ll be anxious to know what you think of “Indiana.” One of my favorite books of all time is a collection of the correspondence of Flaubert and Sand (translated by Francis Steegmuller and Barbara Bray). I just can’t seem to get into her novels. If you like Sand, maybe I’ll gird my loins and try again.
@@StephaniePatterson-jb5it I actually bought a copy of these letters when I visited Sand’s house in France years ago. I love letters. At the time I had read Sands but did not know Francis Steegmuller. Now I know him as the husband of Australian author Shirley Hazzard.

So happy that you're over your slump, Penelope!
I adore that you don't script your videos...the your short distractions are hilarious. 😊
Aww, thank you very much, Sandra! ❤️
Excellent summary of the Elizabeth George book! I find it hard to give a quick overview of her book because there is so much going on!
Yes, there was definitely a lot going on in that book... Glad yo liked the way I summarized it, thank you! ❤️

I'm not familiar with Anne Truitt at all but Daybook really intrigues me.
It's so interesting to read about her creative journey!
