So no fancy effects, just plain colors. My GPU does store the RGB settings (Asus Strix RTX). @@darkry7500 It's addressable. 5:02, yes you can. You can run two entirely different brands of ram with different speeds in your computer. The BIOS will just automatically default and run the slowest speed stick, they just need to be the same capacity. Also, any desktop rated DIMM will run on either amd or intel. Ryzen also benefits greatly from higher ram speeds far more than intel does.
With some exceptions. Also, this is an old way of thinking. I'm an old school A+ Certified tech and I remember this being the case but not anymore. The boards are simply way too picky now, especially if they are not in the right slots. omg are they picky!
Will it be better to not do it or do it because the bios will default to the slowest one? I have an intel cpu btw and also is there any way that you can default it to the faster one? Thanks.

Thank you so much , I’m about to build my gaming pc and I bought the Neo and I wasn’t sure if it was going to be compatible with my intel i9 chipset thank you man only one on TH-cam who could clarify this . Like this if you came for the same reason.
im using the neo 3600 32gb kit (2x16), 3900x, rog strix x570 itx, 2080 super. From what i understand, the chip die quality of the neo is better, and usually samsung vs micron if i am correct, this allows for easier overclocking and tighter timings for cpus with a ton of cores.
omg you deserved my subscription just for this Video. I will checkout your others Videos for sure. I fell for you content right away. I was exactly looking for this kind of Video and I got it. Thanks a lot!!!!
Ok, this is a bit late, but the real difference is that the Neo is set up to work with Ryzen, so the memory timings and such will work with AMD, while XMP is configured to work with Intel. This won't be nearly as big an issue with Zen3, but the first few generations of Ryzen processors had it where AMD couldn't work with the same timings you could on the Intel side. Going to the Z5 generation, Intel can run much faster DDR5 memory compared to the Zen4 Ryzen chips, but with the Ryzen 9000 series due out in around a month, it should be possible to have the same overall speed RAM, but the EXPO profiles will be tuned for Ryzen, while the XMP profiles will be tuned for Intel.
Great video mate, it answered all the questions I had about these two DIMM sticks. My main question was if there were any differences in the RGB's, but it looks to be exactly the same on both of them. I was concerned, because the 3600MHz NEO is actually cheaper than the 3600MHz RGB where I live, so I figured there must be some downside, but it looks like it's just the visual design that is different. I'm gonna go with the NEO, because not only is it cheaper, but I like the silver design more, and the quality is just as good! Also, don't worry about people disliking your video. DIY enthusiasts can be real snobs about the most miniscule things. :) You clarified early on that it was not an in depth review of the specs of the DIMM sticks, which implies to me that I should not expect you to know every little detail about the two sticks. Which is fine, because it isn't supposed to be a review of the little detail! It is obviously generally possible to run two DIMM sticks with different default speeds and timings, but you got the point across that it is a really bad idea, unless 1. you know what you are doing with your hardware, and 2. you want DIMM that is not running at it's full potential.
Thanks 1311 Gaming! I have other content like this too and if there is a video you want me to make that you need, let me know! Love providing value to subscribers! ✌🏻
Thanks for the video bro. I did come to see the physical difference since my build is basically going to be all black.. but considering that bonus fact of the neo being more power efficient, I may reconsider. I do have to wonder if these two give the exact same performance though.
Thanks for watching! The performance is very similar so you really can't go wrong with either but I know the NEO has more choice along with being more efficient.
Sweet! I only recommend the upgrade from RGB to NEO if you are going from 8->16, 16->32, or 32->64. That's where you'll see the most performance gains👍🏻

Hey I have a question, and I’d really appreciate if you answered. I was looking for compatible “Rgb Ram” for my pc, and I was wondering if the G.Skill TridentZ rgb works with Asrock Polychrome?
To ensure FULL compatibility, use Gskills Configurator to show you the compatible kits. Don't know if you can see Raza comment but I also have the config website linked in the description! Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions✌🏻
So are you correct in saying that the Trident Z RGB is not compatible with Ryzen processors or is it marketing? I have this 3200mhz kit paired with my R9 5900x with Crosshair Viii Hero. And I'm getting stress test errors in OCCT and Aida 64. Thinking whether I should RMA as I have corsair kit at 2666mhz which so far passes many tests ok
Trident Z RGB and NEO are both compatible with Ryzen. So you are good there! I do recommend RAM speeds at least in the 3000mhz range but only worth switching/upgrading if you really like the Trident Z look or you're going from 16gb to 32gb from the Corsair RAM.
I'm rocking with an ryzen chip but I have the tridentZ RGB ver. Because I saw a deal on it and am pretty happy with it. But just out of curiosity does it slightly increase performance for AMD? Or is it so insignificant that it doesn't even matter?
From what I've seen, it's mostly insignificant. The slight increase is what all the marketing teams pushed in their advertising for the NEO to work "better" with AMD.
Since the Ram was running in its default setting it's actually hard to tell even after the PC tries to boot at 5:26. I do see what you mean but 3 colors appear right after that on the RGB. It could be a software factor and not a hardware factor but would like to find some more information to prove this.
Hey Joe! These are the x34p's. In the description, I have included a parts/inventory list on Amazon and on Google Drive that includes the 2 monitor mounts that I have used with the x34 form-factor that I recommend. I've got the RGB Gskill in my PC and in my Wifes PC we just built almost Identical PCs and so we both have the same ram. The only difference is she has a 3080 and I have a 3060Ti (Her monitor is nicer and her gaming use case needs the bigger GPU) She also has a 1000w psu compared to my 850, and I have a Soundblaster AE5 in mine as I need the Audio Improvement Also she has 1 1tb Sata drive in addition to her NVME where as I have 4TB of Spinning drives that I harvested from Previous builds. But the Cases, Processors, Cooling, Ram, and Mobo's are exactly the same.
This sounds like heaven!! The fact that both PC's are tailored to both of your needs is beautiful 🤍 Her games must be more demanding but if yours aren't you could easily wait to upgrade your GPU when the 50series comes out. Or take her 3080 when she gets her 5080 😎🤙🏻

I've seen the Trident Z Neo, and I'm honestly curious how much different it is my current Trident Z RGB, because they seem to look quite similar on the outside.
I don't recommend the upgrade from RGB to NEO for that reason. They are wayyyy too similar. If you had RGB 16gb and thinking about going to 32gb, then getting a 32gb kit of NEO would be worth the switch.

That's a great question! You could, but I wouldn't. If you are wanting to use an extra kit in your system but it's RGB and not NEO, I would try and sell the RGB and get the exact kit of NEO (another 2x8) so you can have maximum compatibility and speeds!
I recently bought the Trident Z Neo 3600mhz CAS Latency 16 RAM because it was on sale and it was $2 cheaper then the Trident Z RGB Ram. Will it work for my Ryzen 7 2700X? After I bought it, I realized that it was as meant for Ryzen 3000 series processors. I am kind of scared that it won’t work😬
Btw the older RGB variant has 5 zone LED lightning, but the NEO series has 8 zone LED lightning. So here is a newer LED system under the translucent plastic. But it is visible, when you powered up the PC, the LEDs are a bit more brightness direct over self. (5:07)
I tried a dark side by side comparison in part 2 and could barely see that the 5 LED zones made a difference. Maybe it's more noticeable not in its default rainbow cycle state on startup.
@@AprilMayRain Yes, in dark and in the default rainbow effect doesn't made a big difference, but if anybody wants to set the LEDs one by one configuring, then there is a difference :)

Great question! If you like the look and performance of your 16GB NEO kit, adding another stick of the same model is a solid choice. However, if you decide to go with a new kit, it's best to get a 2x16GB (32GB) set to ensure optimal performance and can go to 64gb in the future with the extra slots.
hey man i got the x570 aorus ultra with 3700x , and i wanted to get the trident Z RGB 3600 c18(F4-3600C18D-16GTZR) OR 3200 C16(F4-3200C16D-16GTZR)...the prices are same, but neo is a bit more expensive, any idea will i be having any problems with any of those?! I know your not reading comments anymore but is the neo one compatible with any Intel cpu 10 gens ? like i9 900k or atleast a 8cores cpu is it compatible ?
If you check out the dates most of my replies, I'm totally still replying to comments:) As of now, the neo IS compatible with 10th gen but don't know about 11th. It should though but Gskill is releasing a new lineup of RAM for 11th gen.
I have the RGB model, but I can't decide if I want to get the NEO model instead for my new build rather than using my current ram. I run 64gb so it would be a bit of an investment. I am torn though, as I kinda prefer the looks of the standard RGB model better, but the NEO model matches my new motherboard better, being the "Asus Prime X299- Deluxe II." What do you think?
This is a tough decision and involves a lot of factors! First, awesome choice of motherboard! Since I have the Deluxe I, I was looking at upgrading to the Asus 30th anniversary. I have more videos on my channel and pics on insta that show the RGB ram with my Deluxe1 that's very similar to the Deluxe2. Second is cost. You should look into getting 2 32gb kits with different speeds and compare that price with both types. And Third, is what you would do with your RGB ram if you upgraded. Sell it with your old system? Keep both systems? You have a few options there. My final thoughts; the NEO is the refined upgrade to the RGB. Hope this helps you with your desition and doesn't make it more complicated! 🙃✌🏻
These ram modules are not similar at all. The aluminum heat sinks only cool the ram chips and RGB lighting has nothing to do with Random Access Memory - the lighting is only for showing off - pure vanity. The TridentZ RGB F4-2400C15D-16GTZR specs are directly on the label sticker "DDR4-2400 CL15-15-15-35 1.20V" These properties are very different from the tridentZ neo F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC specs also at a quick glance are DDR4-3600 CL16-19-19-39 1.35V. Were you able to boot into the system bios? Installing two ram modules, each with its own separate voltage requirements is not good. You will have to ‘under-volt’ or ‘over-volt’ one of the RAM modules and this will still result in serious stability issues. Why didn't you test and compare benchmarks [separately] for the RAM modules -timing, speed, voltage and overclocking stability???
@@AprilMayRain I'm impressed you even knew what he was talking about. If it weren't for old Top Gear episodes, I would have never learned the British pronounce it "zed".

Hey Marvin! You shouldn't have any compatibility issues but your performance will be hit slightly. That shouldn't be a reason to buy lower clocked ram for that specific MB so I recommend still going with the faster 3600 NEO. Make sure to update your BIOS and let me know if you have any problems more than happy to help man!
@@momarvs8672 That's a tough one... I'm assuming the price difference isn't that large and that speed difference isn't that significant. I would say find the mobo you want to upgrade to and pick the ram that would look best in that system if making that decision is difficult for you.

@@AprilMayRain welcome
Brilliant video, just the info I was looking for.
So glad to of helped you!✌🏻
Thanks for the physical comparison!
Yeah I realized not many videos have physical comparisons! Glad to of helped!
You are really likable. Thanks for bringing good vibes man.
Your comment made my day man and hope it inspires creators to take more video idea risks! Thank you ✌🏻

There are a lighting difference between them: the Neo have 3 different colors at the same time when the Rgb only has 2. you can see it at 5:12
Since the Ram was running in its default setting it's actually hard to tell even after the PC tries to boot at 5:26. I do see what you mean but 3 colors appear right after that on the RGB. It could be a software factor and not a hardware factor but would like to find some more information to prove this.
Hey guys! If you want a more in-depth analysis of the NEO, check out my man Bit-Tech's video! - th-cam.com/video/pCCa7BENLHY/w-d-xo.html
If it's the first Ram memoirs I buy, do you recommend the neo? Are they better than the rgb?
If you have any other Corsair products, I recommend Corsair memory. If not, the NEO is a great choice!
Idk if it’s just me but the RGB lighting on both are kind of different. The NEO has a smoother rgb flow, while the other one kinda slow.
I couldn't see it with the naked eye but if I was going to do this again I would use a still high-quality camera to capture it!
What monitor mounts are you running? I have the original Acer x34 pred and i need something to mount it on! Thanks in advance!
Hey Joe! These are the x34p's. They are beefy monitors so you have to do some digging to find a mount that will be able to handle the weight. Let me know if you have any more questions!
I've got the RGB Gskill in my PC and in my Wifes PC we just built almost Identical PCs and so we both have the same ram.

5:35 is the right 2400 and left 3600???????????????????????????????????????????????????
The Neo on the left is the 3600!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :P
Which performs better? Also comparing this to hyper x fury?
The NEO, from my observations, performed better. I want to test the fury and plan on doing that once they drop their new memory kits!

I do recommend 32gb for streaming! But I can't fully recommend mixing neo with rgb😬 I have heard it working and have heard it having issues. Please let me know your experience if you mix! If you watch the part 2, you can see more comparisons about how they perform separately.
Hi AprilMayRain :-)
I'm thinking about buying a Ryzen 5 3600, a MSI b450 Tomahawk Max and G.skill trident Z neo (2x8)16gb 3600mhz C16 ram (F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC). Does this ram go with this motherboard? :-)
Hi Anders! I would go to Gskills website to their 'RAM Configurator' and that way you can see ALL compatible Gskill ram that go with the Tomoahawk and go from there! If you are concerned about the F4-3600C16D-16GTZNC in particular, you can always email Gskill support and they are awesome on getting back to you!
AprilMayRain Thank you for the response :-) I’ve tried the ram configurator and the neo ram doesn't show up. I've now written an email to the g skill support.
@@Schou02 Please keep me in the loop! Really want to know what they respond with. I checked to for you and yep, no Neo:/ so I wonder if they just haven't updated their website yet?
AprilMayRain :-) they haven’t updated the website. They wrote back on e-mail that the neo ram are compatible. I’ve now bought the ram, CPU and motherboard.
@@Schou02 You are almost done! Do you have a case picked out?
What is that copper heat sink in your test system?
oooh is this what you are talking about?

mismatching RAM sticks isn't as big of a deal as you would think. the default speed of DDR4 is synced to 2100mhz. it'll only present a problem if you are trying to overclock the RAM
Interesting! I would love to run more tests than the simple one that I did.
@@AprilMayRain there is a video by JayZtwoCents where he does everything you're not supposed to do when building a PC. mismatched RAM was included.
Hi, Samsung chip?
Imma take the cheaper one of the two
Same speed, half different color and like knives, cheaper is dull, other is sharp
Great choice regardless!
I have the trident z rgb rams...i want a single color mode how can i change it...btw great video and thank you
You have to download your mother boards rgb software it's different for different brands
@@mythiccfn6804 thanks a lot
Appreciate the videoM
My PC specs
-I7-8700 9th gen
-16gb G-Skill RGB TridentZ ram
-512gb M.2 Drive
-EVGA RTX 2060
-Tuf Gaming Asus Motherboard
-AIO water cooler
Will it work on my PC?
Are you wanting to upgrade to 32gb NEO then yes it will work!
@Hyakuuu ••• lol
Does this memory work in ryzen first generation?
It should work with all ryzens with compatible motherboards. When choosing ram, the motherboard ram compatibility is what to look at first. Let me know if you have any more questions!
Augusto - it will work on ALL MoBo's that need DDR4.
thanks for th video. Very useful
“Look at all that use, jeeze” bahhahaha lol
