Can someone explain to me, like I'm 6, what significance an exit poll has when the actual result will be available the next day, in most cases? Is this article some kind of cover up of how wildly inaccurate most polling is? it's a bit like giving me the weather forecast for the next two minutes.
I think the exit poll is mainly there to give news channels something to talk about during the overnight election coverage. At 10pm there will be a big announcement, usually followed by interviews and commentary on the result to fill the air time as the real votes get counted.
