I had a 2009 HHR with the 2.4L engine in it. I drove the crap out of it. It had 50,000 miles when I got it. Sold it almost 5 years later with 184,000 miles. I didn’t want to get rid of it, but the transmission had started to act up periodically. I did a lot of driving, so I didn’t want to risk it. But, it was a good car and I was meticulous with maintenance. Aside from some freak incidents and one auto accident, I never had any trouble with it. I would definitely own another one if I found one in good shape. I could haul all kinds of musical equipment in that thing too! It served me well! P.S. Love your channel Scotty!
I worked as a tech in a dealership for years and we had a customer with a fleet of HHRs. They all had 400k+ miles on them with almost no issues as he had his drivers bring them in for regular maintenance like clockwork. He made the mistake of replacing them with VWs lol
OMG a Chevy Scotty approves?! I bought one of these in a year and a half ago. 2010, manual transmission, 44k miles. Handles like a dream. Plus it's a flexfuel, $30 to fill the tank. Of of the best cars I've ever owned!
I have a 2006 HHR with 215,000 miles on it. Everything works as it should. Will drive it until wheels fall off. And the best thing is it was given to me.
I have a 2009 that I bought new. Only has 48k on it. Oil changes and tire rotation every 3000 miles and other basic maintenance. Still looks like new. Great little vehicle. Will probably keep it for another 13 years.
My wife has a 2007 Chevy HHR (purchased new), it just turned over 260,000 miles last week. It still runs and drives great! My wife absolutely loves that car. BTW, have only used Mobil 1 oil since day one.
@@rodrigogarcia23465w30 just buy the best oil or top American Oil and u got best vehicle, don't buy what's not recommended bc u can get the pump tired thick oil won't flow fast .....thin oil is for high performance and small engine are usually sassy...
This is right on a HHR thats just now broken in lol..... who doesn't love the funeral looking herse😁😁 I get that alot anybody else ?? I have alot of fun just saying yes it's one for small short people only. I, get a smack from the wife each time i have been caught saying this as well. I do still love my precious wife thou...🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅🦅
Bought my 2011 in 2013 from a Caddy dealership w/30k miles on it. It’s at 180k now. Performed all required maintenance. One major issue, leak in gas tank & had to have replaced. Everything works on mine. Runs great. Love it. When was looking for a car wanted a wagon type but not an SUV & the HHR turned our to be perfect for what I needed. I’m 73 years old so guess I qualify as that older guy who takes care of his vehicle too. Oh, body on my is near perfect.
2007 Chevy Cobalt here, manual transmission. It has a lot of parts in common with the HHR including the 2.2 liter Ecotech engine. 275k miles on it now. Still on the original battery! Reliable car. Good in winter.
@@hockeyguy820 what engine alot of folks I know have had so many problems with the 2.4 engine I have a 2.2 in the HHR just curious who has what engine !
I have a 2006 2.4L HHR and i love it! Lots of room esp when you need to bring bigger things home, the backseats fold down. I also love the passenger front seat folds flat with a hard top which makes eating in the car not so bad. I even did the "van life" in mine and since that front seat folded flat it was the perfect bed size to sleep in. I even bought an extra trunk tray to hold more things up top in 2 trunk organizers and still had all the space below as well . Is the perfect car so far. I really wish i got the newest fully loaded one before they stopped making it. I wish they'd bring them back.
Kilmer, I bought my 67 Camaro 3500SS in 1975! Just last month I had to replace the original radiator as it finally yielded up the ghost! I served in USCG and put 125,000 + miles on it and I have never walked away from it(IE-breakdown) I have meticulously maintained it- changing all fluids (even brake fluid) frequently! It still has original drive train and only rebuilt motor in 1978! Also put a 4.10 posi in the rear! Car even has original ball joints! Chevy's been making good cars a long time!
My 2007 HHR has 163,000 and still looks new inside and out. Has had new struts twice, new brakes rotors twice and first new battery after 11 years. All the rest is original and gets 31 mpg no matter city/highway. Best little car I have ever had. I do maintenance religiously, by the book, except oil which I change more frequently, so I take better than average care of it!
He is sharing what he knows from working on vehicles made in Mexican auto factories, not other industries. He tells it as we all see and live it. Which is the same philosophy as Seth Macfarlane the creator of Family Guy. Scotty said he likes the show.
I bought a 2008 HHR LT2 about a month ago with 102,800 miles on it. I can tell it was well maintained because it's not all beat up and the interior looks just about new. I bought it to use as a weekend car camper, among other things. The back seats fold flat, so it's easy to put a foam pad in the back to sleep on. According to the carfax report, the ignition switch, a common problem on the HHR, was replaced at about 60,000 miles, so that's done.
Yes, if you are In canada you also have a 999,000 warranty on the power steering steering motor ( go to gm site and run your vin it will be there have to look for it thou.) which I also know for a fact (motor book) factory edition it does state that they are to be replaced *together) one will not work properly without the other but DAMM GM WILL NOT REPLACE BOTH. they will always only replace the p/s motor. and with mine it was replaced at only 3,600 kmh you never hear of the steering column having to be replaced on a brand new car this was just plain crap but it is what it is. I have fought with GM over this and all I ever got was ( HOW FAR DO I WANT TO GO) Meaning how much $ do I want to spend on their crap mistake. but they win each time. And yes I have also has the ign replaced early on with this car.
That’s what it’s all about, taking care of your car, changing your oil frequently, etc. My 18-year-old Saturn Vue just turned over to 274,000 today, it’s the 4 cylinder, Honda made engine, thus, it still run great. Scotty videos are the best ever!
My daughter has one. Works perfectly. I have a 2012 Sonic LS 1.8 5spd. Even TPS still working, original everything except tires, wipers and battery. Never a recall. GM does know how. Just do it already!
Hey Scotty hey this is Todd up here in Pennsylvania I just wanted to let you know that I've got a 2007 Chevy HHR with 194 thousand on it still going strong doesn't leak a drop of anything
I have had my HHR since 2007. It has been great. Tons of parts available since it shares so many parts with the cobalt. The front passenger seat folds down and has hard plastic on the back of it so you can haul 8ft lumber in it with the gate closed. So much utility in this little wagon.
Just got my 2009 hhr back . Daughter had it then my parents. I love it again . Easy in and out . Versatile; nimble; zips through traffic and down hwy . Holds road good . Using the e85 $2 cheaper a gallon. You can put a 8 foot board in it !!! - sleep in it !!!😁 maybe I’ll get rid of my truck. 😁 very under rated vehicle -
I actually still see these on the road versus the PT Cruisers. They're not that bad actually if you don't dog them and change the oil they can actually be a fairly decent car
Chrysler gave me a loaner pt when I took mine in. It was not a turbo and it was awful. I own 2 pt turbos, getting off the starting line is not a problem they have ever had. I've never had a major repair on either of them.
My daughter has one she bought with 80k for $3800 in 2019 from a Ford dealer that grabbed it before the shop sent it to auction cause the salesman knew she was in her last year of college. I drove it and had a mechanic check it. It was great, and surprised me. She loves it. Yes her signal stalk stopped autocancelling too. It's similar to a Saturn Vue and the Equinox....using the Cobolt platform. It is spunky, comfortable, and very pleasant to drive. I see one every day I'm out on the road, and for a 25 year old Chevy niche car-van that is strange.
My F150 was only on a rollback one time in the 336,000 miles I owned it. And I bought it with 56,000 already on it. And if I had my module bypass hooked up correctly, even that would hsve been unnecessary.
I had an HHR. Many electronic problems. It was corrosion on the body control module connector. Many HHR’s have this problem. Chevrolet Corporate denies the problem exists. Ultimately, through stupidity, I totaled it. I don’t miss it.
My Dad was cross-shopping the PT Cruiser with the HHR. He really liked the PT, but I gave him the skinny on it. Those cars had Neon chassis and powertrains in them. Underpowered with slushbox trannies in them. He did like the Chevy better, but they cost THOUSANDS more than the PT. After I succeded in talking him out of BOTH, he admitted the salesman at Chevy told him he would throw in a crap-ton of options to make the sale. Same with the PT!!! He did thank me, then we got him a Caddy CTS [used] that he LOVED. The Caddy was his last car. And was great!!!
I bought my HHR new in 2007. Over 193k and still driving it everyday. The oil change place tried to kill it. Like you recommend I change my oil now. You don't have to jack it up to do it. I use a oil pump that you pump by hand. The dipstick hole is huge so you're done in 10 to 15 pumps. The cartridge filter is on the top. It's running a lot better now!
My wife has a 2017 Honda Fit, 60k miles, made in Mexico. I know it still kind of new but it feels solid, never had any issue. The point is not everything is bad or good in Mexico as well as any country. They've been improving a lot on quality, even though it's not close to Japan, even China has some quality products.
I have a '08 HHR that appears that I am the third or fourth owner . It is very low milage, 54,500 now and only 31,500 when I bought it in '18.Still good running car and I plan to keep it maintained.
My HHR has almost 300,000 miles on it and it's needed almost nothing... The alternator finally went out on it. But before that, it started right up faster than any car in the driveway and ran better than most the newer cars in the driveway.
I loved my HHR. It had great cargo capacity, with the rear seats down, for my wife and I, with three beagles. We spent a week in Florida with our three dogs. I had to "Tetris pack" the car, but it worked for the trip.
Inherited a 2011 one from my mother, 145,000 miles…most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Very practical, snappy acceleration, great in snow. I put Duralube in all my engines, so I expect the engine will outlast the car. It’s a great vehicle!
My first one had 180,000 when I got it. I sold it after 300,000 after driving it hard. Still ran perfect. Bought another one and I am now at 180,000 with it. Most common issues are plastics, rubber, O2 sensors, valve cover gasket, lower control arm bushings, some can develope an exhaust leak from a cracked manifold, belt tensioner, brakes and other little things. They are very easy to work on, and all of that stuff is inexpensive to replace for the most part. Cobalt, Pontiac g5 and hhr are all the same platform. Just swapped the rear beam out from a G5 GT with rear disks. Brakes way better! Love these cars
My Mexican 2002 FocusZX3 was ASSEMBLED in Mexico , but car is the Gen 1 European car , many parts are made in Spain or Germany , it was just assembled in Hermosillo , AND AT 21 YRS. OLD drives perfect and manual trans is good , air is cold 204K miles.
This is not the only good car Chevy made I have 2002 cavalier 2.2L (non exotic engine) that I use for work it now has 246k miles same engine and tranny other that the typical rust that plagues them, and regular maintenance this car has been solid 💯💪🏿
I've had two Ram diesels assembled in Saltillo,Mx. No squeaks or rattles in either. The only issue was the bunk Mexican windshield that was distorted. Unlike UAW plants the workers can be fired for lousy work or attendance
Sometimes it is not a matter of price, all water heater tanks (no tankless are) are made in Mexico and 95% are crap regardless of price; If you pay $3000 to Home Depot you will still get junk with plastic parts just like the furnace mentioned in another video, but if you go a professional supply house, or just hire a plumber, you can get one for $800-900 that is ALL metal parts. No planned failure. It is not a matter of cost, your premise is FALSE. Mexico used to make TVs, then Asia took away their market, same is happening with water heaters for new developments that can install a bigger meter, up north we need the 199,000 BTU versions which means you need a 350K meter if you have gas heat or anything other then a NG stove. I my case my furnace it just enough I can not use the stove of the water heater and furnace are both on so I had to stick with a all metal, for now. I did come into some money and may upgrade the meter for when the tank fails in a few decades.
I read some bad reviews on them, ignition issues, trans, electrical gremlins. But i read many good reviews. The ignition/stuck key seems to be a common one. My friend had one new that he really liked but he sold it after 4 years. He said they and the Scion xb were easy for big guys, 6'4" 300lb, to get in and out. He loved the Scion and the Sienna vans.
I have a 2007 Chevy HHR with 287,850 miles and engine and transmission and even the A/C still works so this is a quality entry level vehicle for sure! 👍
Have a 2010 I bought new. 167k mi. Still runs well & is my daughter's now. Had a check engine P0013 code which I think is taken care of now. Great car!
I rented an HHR on a trip to Las Vegas once. I liked it for the long weekend we had it. The AC was great for a trip through the desert to a winery in Pahrump.
Had a 2008 Cobalt for 10 years and 150k miles, normal maintenance and some suspension parts. Original alt, water pump etc. Great car! Kinda miss it. The TPMS system was still working as of 2020 when I sold it.
I have a 2010 2.2L LT and changed the transmission fluid @ 100k, 5k miles later I had to rebuild the transmission. No other major problems aside from that. Regular maintenance and still buzzing up and down the road @ 140k.
Still have my 2006 ls 2.2 engine now has almost 400,000 on er and runs like a dream why! you ask it's called I keep it all tuned up. I only run 5W-50 Oil (must be Castrol)synthetic only folks. not a one leak to be found. the only thing i have hated was I have had 17 yeah thats right 17 new power steering motors replaced under the 999,000 warranty on it. but get this the last time i had it in they refused to do it with a crap excuse oh! your ecu is shot not the motor which was crap I decided to have a good look,at every ground on the car found it! its down by the oil filler as this is a top oil filter look down in there there is a cluster of wires (take them all off) clean each one up and dielectric tighten them all up and guess what even the dealer had said I dont know what the hell happened? I said I do and with your 20,000 scanner you cant? WOW! needless to say they added another motor under warranty they just wanted me to go away sorry GM AINT GOING TO HAPPEN. I also lived in this car at one time was better than a hotel room lol. I still love it...😁😁😁😁😁😋👍
Hey Scotty I have an HHR with 20040 thousand miles but I also had a standard trans PT I traided off at over 300000! My hhr had trainsnission issue for 4 years! it is automatic kept driving. HHR parts replaced. Radiator fan, Altenator, fuel pump, starter. front end control arms.
Great review. The wife has a 2008 SS (2.0 L TURBO). Really fun to drive & it WILL push you against the seat! Hope Scotty will get a chance to test one. Regards!
My 2009 HHR LT has 306K. I drive 200-400 miles per day for Uber in KC (thank goodness we have fast freeways). I plan to retire her at 400k. Here is what I’ve done: radiator, water pump, alternator, coil pack and plugs (200k and 300k), lower control arms, vtc, timing belt, headlights, lots of brakes (OEMs work best), struts, shocks, springs but the engine and tranny are original. I have never needed any exhaust repairs. I paid $3,000 in 2021 she had 141k). Hopefully, they will make HHRs again.
I bought the first model year 2006 Chevy HHR LT and had fun driving the car but the low-profile Firestone Firehawk tires picked up nails and easily got damaged from small potholes, The front rotors warped at 10k miles, ( Chevy dealer would only resurface the front rotors and I would have to return often for the same issue ) and I had to replace the Rear right brake lamp several times. Unfortunately, I grow tired of Chevrolet's repair nonsense and at 18k I traded it away for a 06 Honda Ridgeline.
Okay, I'm getting 32-34 hwy/24-29 city. 2006, 95k miles. New struts/shocks. Would like to replace transmission, but would prefer to wait and upgrade the topend with a better Cam. Good car!
My 2006 Chevy Cobalt has got 350,000 Miles on it it's a 2.2 engine, got it when it had 18,000 on it only things I'll done to it is 2 set of bearings,a starter, 2 coil packs and a gas line. Besides maintaining brakes, oil, plugs,I mostly only used MOBIL 1 OIL,SO I THINK YOU ARE WRONG.also it's still running Great Scotty
Both were designed by the same guy, he went from Chrysler to GM (and made HHR). I had the high output PT Cruiser. It was a rocket. Never had an issue with it. But the MPG sucked.
I have a 2006 HHR with manual transmission and 2.4L Ecotec** and it still runs like new with 132k miles. The only problems I had with it were very recent: At about 125k miles the thermostat went out (stuck in open position) and at 130k miles, the exhaust flex-pipe (down pipe) cracked. Neither of those caused a stranding...the car still drove fine. Both were relatively easy fixes with very inexpensive parts. I maintain it regularly and I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to drive it across the country if needed. **The 2.4L was the "high performance" engine for that year, there was also a smaller 2.2L Ecotec and in later years a 2.0L turbo charged Ecotec.
Coworker has an HHR pushing 300k. Runs great and has very little rust. I believe it’s a 2007. I think they look neat. I don’t understand the “panal van” style line. The ones made to look like panal van, just don’t make sense. There are no rear door handles on the exterior of the car and no windows. If you want to open the rear door and don’t have a passenger in the rear, you have to open the front door and reach in to open the back door from the inside. PT cruisers are much more abundant then HHR’s in my area. I would buy either one to have as a spare.
I agree with you about anything designed and built by Chrysler. My brother and I spent thousands of dollars in repairs on Chryslers and Jeeps with less than 150k miles - HVAC, trannys, differentials …. Now that Chrysler and Fiat are “brother and sister” we can expect great employment security for repair shop employees. Now we only drive Honda and Subaru cars.
Have had 2 grand caravans first went to 100000no repairs second one lost the tranny at 65000 no warning once they pass 65 watch out if it makes it past 70000you got a good tranny also getting the transmission oil checked at dealer expensive since they have a sealed tranny
I am considering buying one in 2009. I have a Mitsubishi Outlander 2010 but apparently, the engine is bad. This 2009 HHR is from an elder who can no longer drive. It only has 70k miles who, in 2023 2009 only 70k, and it looks like new. I am going to check it out tomorrow. Thanks a lot for your video review.
I have a 2009 with 300k I've owned since 2012. Love my HHR! Also that's not a 2010. 2009 and newer has window controls on the doors. This one has them in the center console, 2006 to 2008
Holy cow!!! I had one of those back in ‘08 brand new!!!! I can attest it was a good car. Mine was standard though. Only got rid of it because I could t afford 3 different car payments.
Good to know. I always liked the PT Cruiser with the wood siding. I think it would look sharp on the back of a tow truck. [I have an 84 Chrysler le barone mark cross edition of course it looks good. I spent 1,000s of dollars bringing the mechanicals up to par. But it looks good with the top down. ]
i own 2006 chevy hhr 2.4 lt with over 230k runs great just replace all sensors and seals mounts that's about it. i had issues with pt cruisers when engines has lowepower with ac running or ac never works when all was replaced new your right pt cruisers are junk have wiring issues to even pvc. Normally only time i had hard shifting with hhr when engine light comes on
Had a 2001 PT Cruiser and sold it with over 105,000 miles on it ( mostly highway miles ) in 2003 and still ran well - no problems - moved overseas and no longer needed vehicle.
Damn right they were better made. I have an HHR Panel that I actually use as a camper van this little thing has been everywhere and I do mean everywhere and it is still going strong. I have an RV also and I a lot of the time I still take the HHR on trips instead of the RV.
My Pontiac '08 Grand Prix 3.8 gets better mileage gives more power and comfort and security. You should test drive one.. if you can find one driven by an elderly man who appreciates auto mechanics. I believe there are few left mostly because.. as you said, not everyone maintained them.
i got a 2006 chevy HHR, pretty good vehicles. I noticed that the suspension system is pretty weak and often needs work. also the alloy wheels are cheaper grade alloy and often need replacement rims, go aftermarket and be done with it. I bought 5 star replacement alloy rims from firestone and they are tough, matched with goodyear reliant tires 17 inch. Moon roof problems and altermator issues, but nothing major. I think mine is going to need a timing chain and gear at 185k but all in all its a fairly reliable car. oh and interior door handles break and fobs have battery connection problems, needs a solder point. g
I have driven a Mexican built Chevrolet Cavalier as a rental car. A coupe on a trip to Vancouver in 1995 and a sedan in Toronto in 2004. The Chevrolet HHR was Chevys answer to the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
The big thing is maintenance, practical upgrades that take care of some of the downfalls/drawbacks that cars had when they came out, taking care of issues when they arise not letting them get worse, and just decent driving. I have a 2004 Thunderbird I picked up for around $7, 200 taxes and everything. These cards did have their problems but I actually upgraded some of the issues that caused problems with these cars and haven't actually had them since. The cars were known to eat spark plugs but they've since come out with a better spark plug and spark plugs and better ignition coils, It's updating those I don't have problems with that. For the mileage I knew the car was under price because the transmission was just starting to go and the guy didn't want to put any more money into it. I luckily have access to a really excellent transmission shop there's a full but I'm able to get in cuz my mechanic uses them a lot so they keep spots open when they recommend someone They not only fix the transmission but actually I paid for them to upgrade it to take care of the issues that the retro Thunderbirds were known to have and that thing has never been smoother or better. The car is somewhat of a sports car so I do like to drive it fast here and there take it around the winding roads of the mountains near me so I have added clear intake and a borla exhaust and had a custom tune put on the car and she just purse very nicely. The car does still have thermostat issues that they're known for because they were made out of plastic seems like I have to replace that every 2 to 3 years No one's made a better upgrade but I would say overall maintenance I probably spend one to 2,000 a year on it if that I like to spoil my car and upgrade stuff here and there and performance parts so I do put more into it but I don't know if I'd count that it's maintenance. I love my car it's a lot of fun. Unless October I just picked up a 1967 Thunderbird with the suicide doors in the rear I am fixing that up now and that's another blast
Amazing how proper maintenance keeps vehicles going. People are just too lazy then turn around and complain about a vehicle that fails due to their negligence.
I remember those PT Cruisers. My sister had one a long time ago and when it got in a wreck I just remember how the plastic got beat up so bad! Didn’t survive at all and she had to get another car. She’s had a Mini Cooper before too.
@@justpray365 she now has a Mercedes Benz now and already has problems with it. Had to get the audio fixed. 😂 The best decision she ever made was getting a 2017 Toyota RAV4 a few years ago and the only thing that was wrong with it was a dent it had on the front from some jerk who didn’t see it a few years ago. Now I have it and works like a dream. I got a Carplay unit installed in there and everything and tomorrow I’m upgrading the tires to Michelin Defenders. Only 94.500 miles when I got it and I’ve had it for three weeks now.
@@smncutler she gets bored with her cars every couple of years and just gets a new one or a more recent used one. If only she knew what she just gave up but oh well! My last car was a Volvo XC90 from 2004 that lasted for years and years before it finally died last year and had it fixed after my car accident in 2017.

Tomorrow it’ll be how good Toyota cars are
Hey, Mr. Scotty, you know the El Camino is a classic, but it's not a Mexican car! LOL
Did he change the oil every 5k miles in 170k miles lifespan? Rather buy an EV and change the whole battery, if needed.
How come you are always using different scanners, and how many do you have?
My 2011 Chevy HHR has almost 250,000 miles and still runs like a damn champ !!!!!!!!!!
im @390,000
My 2010 HHR is almost 219,000 miles and is a champ
Oh nooooo hahahaha
What we’re they, taxi cabs?
OMG a Chevy Scotty approves?! I bought one of these in a year and a half ago. 2010, manual transmission, 44k miles. Handles like a dream. Plus it's a flexfuel, $30 to fill the tank. Of of the best cars I've ever owned!
Felt that with my 09 manual cobalt i got 2 years ago at 82k, now at 105k no issues just regular maintenance
I have a 2016 Chevy Colorado 2.8 turbodiesel.... I use penzzoil and I have 170,000 miles on it already lol

Had a 2009 HHR had 245k miles and was still going good. Loved that little car
What do you drive now?
@@CCANGEL333 Your asking the real questions 😅
2007 Chevy Cobalt here, manual transmission. It has a lot of parts in common with the HHR including the 2.2 liter Ecotech engine. 275k miles on it now. Still on the original battery! Reliable car. Good in winter.
GM VEHICLES ARE GARBAGE
@@hockeyguy820 what engine alot of folks I know have had so many problems with the 2.4 engine I have a 2.2 in the HHR just curious who has what engine !
I have a 2006 2.4L HHR and i love it! Lots of room esp when you need to bring bigger things home, the backseats fold down. I also love the passenger front seat folds flat with a hard top which makes eating in the car not so bad. I even did the "van life" in mine and since that front seat folded flat it was the perfect bed size to sleep in. I even bought an extra
trunk tray to hold more things up top in 2 trunk organizers and still had all the space below as well .
I love my pt cruiser 250000 km zero problems regular maintenance keeps it going
My 2007 HHR has 163,000 and still looks new inside and out. Has had new struts twice, new brakes rotors twice and first new battery after 11 years. All the rest is original and gets 31 mpg no matter city/highway. Best little car I have ever had. I do maintenance religiously, by the book, except oil which I change more frequently, so I take better than average care of it!
Thanks for your endorsement of Mexican labor Scotty.
Manuel labor..
He is sharing what he knows from working on vehicles made in Mexican auto factories, not other industries. He tells it as we all see and live it. Which is the same philosophy as Seth Macfarlane the creator of Family Guy. Scotty said he likes the show.
Hi Scotty, i also have a 2010 Chevy hhr with 195 k miles. I haven't had any major problems that we bought back in 2011.
What year is yours?
@@joeguerra3433 2007 he said
My seat couldn’t fold down.
Hmmm. Can't remember the last time I saw an HHR. I see PT Cruisers all the time.
@@jreagins1 I used HHRs as service vehicles. Had 3 go well over 200,000 miles. Cheap to fix and easy to work on.
They look good in silver or black that's about it.
I work on a 07 hhr same setup with no rear windows it has 325k original miles and delivers food for the elderly
Is that with the 2.2 engine? Is that belt or chain? I have a 09cobalt, same setup
I have a 2011 hhr. With 190,000 miles. Runs great !! Love these cars!! Wish they still made them.
Scotty praising a Mexican made Chevy! Didn’t think I will live to see that😅
He got an annoying voice.
Once in a blue moon he does that its very rare
You know Mexican people are great racism just exist and I don't fking care much love to good people
what are u talking about
The Mexican nose candy helped Scotty's enthusiasm.
Chrysler gave me a loaner pt when I took mine in. It was not a turbo and it was awful. I own 2 pt turbos, getting off the starting line is not a problem they have ever had. I've never had a major repair on either of them.
Out shopping for an HHR now before all the sellers see this video and hike up the price. Hope I can find one with the optional hood stick😊
At 7:12 Scotty The PT Cruisers had a early death end up in a Junk Yard shows image of a Chevy Dealer
Exactly why I take care of my cars. I've never been left on the side of the road.

My HHR has almost 300,000 miles on it and it's needed almost nothing...
The alternator finally went out on it.
But before that, it started right up faster than any car in the driveway and ran better than most the newer cars in the driveway.
I've had 3. All over 200k on them. Normal parts brakes, oil, filters. Inexpensive reliable cars. Most vehicles will last if you take care of them.
I loved my HHR. It had great cargo capacity, with the rear seats down, for my wife and I, with three beagles. We spent a week in Florida with our three dogs. I had to "Tetris pack" the car, but it worked for the trip.
I saw one of the PT cruisers that was painted Destroyer Gray and what obviously was restored. It was Clean and looked solid.
Inherited a 2011 one from my mother, 145,000 miles…most reliable car I’ve ever owned. Very practical, snappy acceleration, great in snow. I put Duralube in all my engines, so I expect the engine will outlast the car. It’s a great vehicle!
I had a HHR, I loved it
My first one had 180,000 when I got it.

Mexican build quality is top-notch when the people are paid what they deserve!
@ese4424 The people being paid are consumers, too, as Henry Ford pointed out.
I've had two Ram diesels assembled in Saltillo,Mx. No squeaks or rattles in either. The only issue was the bunk Mexican windshield that was distorted. Unlike UAW plants the workers can be fired for lousy work or attendance
@@wholeNwon Mr. Ford saw a lot when it came to the automotive / production industries. A lot of companies could take a few pages from his play book
Yeah but they don't wanna pay a fair wage. A lot of cars 20+ made in Mexico have had a lot of problems
He made a right choice on both Toyotas. Scions are good cars and Sienna is a good van also
The ignition stuck key is a recall fixed free by any dealer.
I got a 2010 ram 4.7 v8.. 208k miles.. the truck's engine is so quiet! Maintenance is key. I change the oil religiously every 3500 miles.

Had a 2008 Cobalt for 10 years and 150k miles, normal maintenance and some suspension parts. Original alt, water pump etc. Great car! Kinda miss it. The TPMS system was still working as of 2020 when I sold it.
I liked the styling of the HHR more. Puts me in the mind of the modern Thunderbird (which some hate). The 2000s were an interesting time for cars.

My 2009 HHR LT has 306K. I drive 200-400 miles per day for Uber in KC (thank goodness we have fast freeways). I plan to retire her at 400k. Here is what I’ve done: radiator, water pump, alternator, coil pack and plugs (200k and 300k), lower control arms, vtc, timing belt, headlights,
lots of brakes (OEMs work best), struts, shocks, springs but the engine and tranny are original. I have never needed any exhaust repairs. I paid $3,000 in 2021 she had 141k). Hopefully, they will make HHRs again.
Scotty you are the absolute best youtube IMO, greetings from uruguay!
Good car!
2009 HHR 260K still going strong
It's just a grocery getting device , Recommend a good long distance touring /luxery American car

I think mine is going to need a timing chain and gear at 185k but all in all its a fairly reliable car. oh and interior door handles break and fobs have battery connection problems, needs a solder point. g
Nothing is better than the reliable older cars, with manual transmission. And cost less, too.
There’s a reason almost Napa Cars are HHR. Easy to fix and not unreliable.
Edit: where I live
If those had been RWD and built with the 3800 engine and Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission most of them would probably still be on the road today.
I have driven a Mexican built Chevrolet Cavalier as a rental car. A coupe on a trip to Vancouver in 1995 and a sedan in Toronto in 2004. The Chevrolet HHR was Chevys answer to the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
I flat tow my HHR behind my motorhome... It is the ultimate

That's the prob with the world. People power is where it's at and as long as people act like you we will always be divided

Taco power!
I remember those PT Cruisers. My sister had one a long time ago and when it got in a wreck I just remember how the plastic got beat up so bad! Didn’t survive at all and she had to get another car. She’s had a Mini Cooper before too.
Your sister is an extremely poor judge of cars. The salesmen must love to see her coming. You should show her Scotty’s channel.
@@justpray365 she now has a Mercedes Benz now and already has problems with it. Had to get the audio fixed. 😂
The best decision she ever made was getting a 2017 Toyota RAV4 a few years ago and the only thing that was wrong with it was a dent it had on the front from some jerk who didn’t see it a few years ago. Now I have it and works like a dream. I got a Carplay unit installed in there and everything and tomorrow I’m upgrading the tires to Michelin Defenders. Only 94.500 miles when I got it and I’ve had it for three weeks now.
A PT Cruiser, a Mini, and a Benz. WHYYYY
