There are so many things to talk about from this season from lore and history to more character development and how we now know that with in each dragon class there are many difrent types like how we see in episode 7 with the fire dragon of the Sun dragon class. But this is one thing I didnt realy think about but it sounds very intresting and it kinda makes since as well. Also big fan of the moon shadow elf costume.
I know, there was so much lore revealed in this season, it’s amazing! I like how the characters a were developed, and we’re seeing how they grow and adapt to these situations they’re in! Glad you liked the theory, more to come soon!
Ez gets his ability from his mother. During their escape for trespassing Queen Sarai's horse lets out a noise and she responds with "oh no" and why Viren had to be rescued. That was a hint of her ability
Oh. I thought he got it from King harrow. But that makes so much more sense especially her asking about if it was the last of its kind, if it had a family, if it was sentient. Omg
Even if Ezran's ability isn't magic, the fact it aligns with the Earth Arcanum could possibly mean he forges a connection with it in a later season, similar to how Callum did.
I suppose the question is will his connection be similar to Callum's in that he can cast spells or will it be like Raylla in that it's just some natural ability.
Also! On the topic of the Moon Arcanum, Rayla was the first person to see through Soren and Claudia's lies, piercing their appearance to care for ezran and Callum and exposing the reality of their lies.
To be fair, Soren started off with a low quality lie that the king was alive, Rayla knew the king was dead due to the assassination bracelet linked to him falling off. From that point she didn't trust anything either of them said.
If that theory is true, then yes, I think Ezran would be able to speak to him! Might be difficult at first, as Harrow would try to communicate in human language while in the bird's body, so it might sound a bit garbled to Ezran at first. Like how the spiders on the Cursed Caldera spoke gibberish because they just made random noises, Harrow doesn't know how a bird talks yet!
Theory Pop the reason it spoke gibberish isn’t because he was learning to speak spider, it was gibberish because it wasn’t a real spider, it was an illusion, and he’s spoken to birds before, the moon phoenix, so I think he’ll understand the bird pretty wel.
@@TheoryPop though at the same time. Aaravos speaks through a caterpillar that sounds exactly like Aaravos. So a bird that speaks with Harrow's voice wouldn't be that impossible.
It really isn't. There are cases where, for example, one spouse knew when to start searching for their life partner, for they were in danger or... passed on. There is something in the human psyche that, if the bond is strong enough, one way or another... we just 'know'. It's an actual phenomenon! Regarding Ezran specifically, that sort of natural trait in humans was dialed to an eleven.
I like to think that humans in The Dragon Prince are a blank slate and capable to wield all types of magic in comparison to magic creatures that born with a specific type. But thank to mass delusion than humanity can't wield magic it close even to possibility to learn magic. Sort of self fulfilling prophecy.
Indeed, its either that ANYONE can learn all magic or that everyone gets 1 but humans have to learn it. The difference being that humans would be equivalent to elves as a species instead of to any single element of elf. Which actually makes sense since that would make Sun-humans and Moon-humans once everyone sorted themselves out. This is likely what would have caused the elves to define themselves. In fact elves may have once been humans or originated from the same species but humans never chose. Elves specialized and were born with it while humans remained "undecided" as a race.
Humans and Elves both can learn all magics, it's just that Each elven race was born with a connection to an element. Look at Archmage Aaravos, who is a Startouch Elf that mastered all 6 and probably practiced dark magic at some point too.
We never saw the Earth glyph on that cube light up near him though, so he at least doesn't have a solid connection the way that magical creatures do. Remember that the Moon glyph lit up when it was just near Rayla, the Sea glyph lit up when the fish monster was nearby, but Callum had to work to light up the Sky glyph. So if it is one of the six, it would have to light up when he's actively using his power. Or he could just be a druid, and this is another kind of magic that's never been explored.
I was going to make the same comment! I really like the theory it would be very cool if Ezran has a connection also. I never saw Callum's cube light near his brother!
My theory is that Ezrand will discover "Light Magic". Which I theorize is the opposite of dark magic where creatures willingly share there power to give the channeler power.
there is some merit to that argument. it makes sense that a more empathetic person might want to ask the creature for help, and draw a safe amount of power only what the creature can give, rather than taking all and leaving the creature dead, as dark magic does. Another cool thing is we see how dark magic corrupts, it deforms the body of the mage, and also corrupts the soul and thinking. Witness Viren, taking the creatures lives as if it was nothing, and his face is deformed, and his mind corrupted to thinking that dark magic is the only solution to all problems. Also notice how all practitioners of dark magic feel entitled to the power of the creature, and barely give it a thought unless its a cute doe in the woods. ie Bambi.
I'm thinking of "light" and "Dark" as more of life and death. Where as Dark Magic forcibly extracts a creature's magical energies, leading to death. Light magic, as I theorize it to work, would be a magical creature forging a bond with a person and willingly sharing it's magical energies with a person. The person who is casting the spell would be using their own body/soul as a magical conduit and would boost the powers shared to them by a creature they have a bond with. Thereby allowing them to use magic.
That would still technically be dark magic, as it is drawing the magic from another creature, and not from the Sources directly. But I could see it being a reformation of dark magic to focus on getting aid from other creatures to use magics as opposed to forcefully taking it.
Am I the only one that noticed in the flashback episode "Breaking the seal" when Sarai heard the horse and knew instantly without looking around knew Viren was not present
I've always considered Ezran's ability to be similar to Villads' understanding of the sky arcanum. It is not enough to fully utilize the abilities associated to the connection, but enough of a basic understanding to sense the element. I think he always had a strong connection to animals and his family strongly encouraged that, leading to an eventual connection to animals the same way Villads learned to sense the winds through years of sailing
Wow this theory is awesome! I never thought of it like that! Also your evidence is pretty good too! Season two was AMAZING I binged watched it in one day! Loved it so much! Ezran honestly is so cool! Such a pure boi
Thank you, glad you liked it! Season 2 was awesome, I’ve watched it through maybe 3 times now? Not including going through particular episodes to get the screen caps I needed for this video!
I think we're going to eventually have 1 character in the main group that connects to each of the 6 elements. The group's just way too small as it is right now, with Ezran gone and only Rayla and Callum as the primary humanoid characters. This provides opportunities to take on more members.
You could be right! There’s a recurring element in the number 6: the number of primal sources, the number of countries (5 human kingdoms + Xadia makes 6), so 6 in the main group could fit!
I'm getting serious atla vibes from this thought. I swear if there's one person who "Masters" all of the 6 elements my head's going to explode from nostalgia.
@@chronicghosting5797 Holy.... you are right. Did I just forget the entire premise of Avatar?? We know Aaravos is super ultra powerful and he owns the cube. But Ez is possible. I feel like the creators of Korra and Avatar are trying to do things they wish they had done before but couldn't. I admire them for trying to represent more people. I think it's much better and directly handled in TDP than in Voltron. Subtlety is great sometimes, but topics like death and divorce and ethnicity and sexual orientation have been shown to be better understood by kids when their parents explicitly discuss them.
Fun little thing to note about the dragon prince is that Callum has blue in his outfit and learns the sky arcanum (sky typically associated with blue), while other characters like Claudia wear black clothes because of dark magic. So what if Ezran, someone who wears earthy colors, is associated with the earth arcanum?
It's interesting to note that the entire core quest of the story may not have happened if not for Rayla's keen insight that two humans helping to return the dragon prince to the elves would give an APPEARANCE of cooperation, peace, and potential trust. There are millions of elves and humans that despise one another, but Rayla realizes that the impression created by two humans and a single elf working together to return the Dragon Prince could change everyone's perceptions, and through that the world. An appearance ultimately molding what others see as reality. An insight worthy of the moon arcanum indeed.
Now I made this theory too only a little while ago and I am happy that someone else thought of it and made public, I can feel a lot more secure about coming up with it in my time and I don't really speak my mind, or make TH-cam videos. However I just wanted to add something. When it comes to primal sources we know enough about Sun, Sky, Moon, and Stars (using what we see in the show and using the dragon prince website), that these are very unlikely to be an Arcanum Ezran is connected to if he is connected to one (after all this is a theory, even if it is a really good one and I like and agree with it). However this leaves us with earth (which you covered perfectly) and ocean, the two primal sources I feel like we know the least about so far. I think that ocean shouldn't be out of the picture since a description on the ocean primal, from the dragon prince website, says "Ocean-connected creatures often forge strong connections to others". Now I'm not going to go into more detail and I am not trying to say "its ocean not earth", that's just not me about this theory, because I really don't know which primal source it could be, heck it could end up being a sun thing (even though I really doubt it is). I do feel its like 53% chance its earth and 47% chance its ocean if this theory end up being true. Man I really want this to be true. Maybe you thought this before you made your video as well and if so I would love to hear your reason why it isn't the Ocean primal since I'm really stuck with that fact that it could be either primal and want help narrowing this down. This part hear is less important but I just wanted to point out, that back in the first season when Ezran is explaining how he can talk to animals, he mentions how he feels a "connection" to them.
We've certainly seen more of the Stars primal source than we have of either Earth or Water, but not quite as much as Sky, Sun and Moon. Your point about Ocean being a possible Arcanum for Ezran is absolutely valid! I saw that the description for Ocean included the part about forming a "strong connection with others," and we certainly see Ezran form an incredible bond with Azymondias. I focussed on the Earth primal source, however, because I felt that what we know of Ezran's character fits the traits associated with Earth connected creatures fairly well, and it's what we have most evidence for so far. However, if there's anything in Season 3 and beyond that might push closer towards Ocean, I'll certainly look at updating this theory! Thanks for the great comment and theory!
I love the idea of Ezran being connected to the earth like Callum is clearly connected to the sky and watching your video and the whole thing about Ezran being very empathic got me thinking. Let's say that Ezran is actually magical, or at least half, and because of this, he can talk to animals, is connected to the earth, and can even look through their eyes like how he did with Zym. Empathic powers in other stories like sci-fi, fantasy, and even Marvel, are very powerful. If Ezran can see through Zym's eyes now, have a deep connection to creatures, and talk to them now as a seven or eight-year-old, imagine what he can do if he was a teenager or an adult. Ezran could be a very powerful mage because of this. I know that seems a bit far fetched but, I like to think that as Ezran and Callum grow, and understand more about magic and the different types of magic, the more powerful they'll become. Maybe even just as powerful as Aaraavos one day
That does make sense to me. In fact, it would strengthen my head-canon that before the discovery of dark magic, humans are also connected to the primal sources (albeit, at a lesser degree than the elves and dragons). And dark magic severed that connection, but that sounds like what you read in a fanfic. Anyways, there’s another theory/idea that’s been floating around. What if Callum (and Ezran) have an Elven ancestor?
I think humans have an older relationship with the Primal sources than most of the current generation of Elves and humans actually realize, that's something I'm covering in a future video :) At the moment, I don't buy into the "Elven Ancestor" theory, as I can't build enough of a case using evidence from the show or associated media (like the website). It's interesting, but right now I can't see it as being confirmed. I'm open to the idea, though.
The world history sequence in S1 made it sound to me like dark magic made it much easier to use magic, not like it (and primal stones) were the only option available to humans, so I was seriously taken aback by how everyone asked in S2 stated that humans' natural connection to magic wasn't just weak/rare, but nonexistent.
@@twincast2005 It's a good point. Dark Magic has been referred to as a "shortcut" in the series. But if there is no other way for humans doing magic, it's not a shortcut, it's the only route they can take!
@@TheoryPop except callum just proved that wrong when he learned how to use the sky arcanum... which means that humans CAN in fact use magic... so yes dark magic just seems like a shortcut because humans couldn't understand how magic worked normally. im more curious how they are going to deal with that dragon that showed up at the end... especially since they have the dragon prince with them... would that make it more hostile (to try to protect the prince) or less?... will they be able to communicate with it with ezran's ability to talk telepathically to the prince?
Well everything is connected to magic, all living and non-living things are connected. Humans are also connected, but they can't use primal magic because unlike the elves, and magical creatures they don't know the meaning of each element's Arcanum. The reason why Callum can do sky magic again is BECAUSE he learned the meaning of and fully understands the sky Arcanum.
I think Callum absolutely has the potential to learn and understand the Arcanum for each primal source. Right now he has Sky, but I think you’re right, he could connect to all of them!
@@TheoryPop I only think this because they mentioned that Aaravos (a theorist's wet dream) is connected to all six Primal Sources and we see him using dark magic so I think the creators are giving us a hint towards Callum's future. Minus the Dark Magic of course.
I think the dark magic isn't bad. I believe it helps to balance out every Arcanum so none of them will be too strong, and the dark magic has the same source as the others just because it's different no one want to use it so they don't understand. So when you master all the Arcanum you master dark magic as well and that will help balancing out your powers. But this is just speculation.
Áron Nemcsik The whole idea of dark magic is that it is a corrupting force that consumes magical creatures. I don’t think it’s meant to be seen as good or balancing.
@@tobistein9787 I meant that it balancing out the primal forces. And it doesn't consume the magical creatures, it consumes magic and release it. Because of that I thought it vould be OK for being there with the primal forces as sort of something that separate them and don't let them grow too strong. Also I don't think it corrupts. I think it slowly takes away the latent magic from humans. I know it was said the humans has no magic but I think they just don't understand the primal forces properly hence they can't use magic. Also the dark magic might takes away some life force maybe from humans?
Ezran having an unconscious ability for empathetic connection with animals via the Earth Arcanum is certainly a possible answer. We may also have a potential other example to run off of: Captain Villads. It's implied that the blind former pirate may have an unconscious connection to the Sky Arcanum due to his ability to read the flow of the wind and storms. And I agree with you that Arcanums are difficult to explain for people who've mainly only used the innate abilities and haven't studied and practiced in depth in order to use theirs for spellcasting, or people who've haven't had to work hard to forge connections with it, like Callum (and presumably, Aaravos). Speaking of our Startouch Elf Archmage, when can we expect a video on him? I'd love to hear your theories on him, his Key, and the poem of Elarion.
Great point about Captain Villads. I think his blindness makes him more open to sensing changes in the wind and air pressure, but certainly possible that he has come to gain at least some understanding of the Sky Arcanum. He's very in-tune with the changes to the weather while they're out at sea! I do intend to do a video around Aaravos in the future!
The word you're looking for is subconscious (a part of your mind you're not aware of but still influences you) Unconscious means no awareness at all, not hidden awareness.
This is a pretty plausible theory. I appreciate the sources and the in-depth thought you put into making into this theory. Hope to see and hear more from you in this fandom!
I have this feeling that a long time ago before humans were banished, they could use magic like the other inhabitants of Xadia but using dark magic may have ‘disconnected’ or disrupted the connection. That could be why Callum was able to use sky magic freely
I have a kind of theory/headcanon that maybe humans aren't completely disconnected from the primal sources, but they have a much weaker connection than elves and dragons do. If Ezran has a natural affinity for earth magic, then Callum could have a natural affinity for sky magic, which is why he was able to learn the sky Arcanum so easily.
Before I saw this video I had a hunch (not by website but from what we know) about Ezrans ability to speak to animals. I jotted down some notes about what you read about the Earth (and ALL of the primal sources) and realized that Earth sounds like my Jelly Tart son! I'm eager for season 4 to see what happens to Ezran as king and his ability to speak to animals and where that will take him! I agree that maybe Ezran will be connected to the Earth arcanum! I'm so ecstatic! I hope to c u all for a possible season 4! God bless!
Great theory! Makes a lot of sense! I wonder if because he has the connection, he could develop the other side of earth magic, controlling rocks and minerals? Also I want to see Ezran recruiting an army of animals for some huge battle!
Pretty convincing theory. I've got a few of my own. For example, bqck in Echoes of Thunder one of the drawings in the credits showed Soren with the moon moth on his head, which made me wonder if Soren has some sort of latent connection to the moon arcanum. With the running gag in early Season 2 of the moon moths hovering around Soren, I'm even more convinced of this. I also have a bunch of theories about the Five Kingdoms based on their names. For example, Neolandia is a name with Germanic and Romantic components, so their language is probably a mix of both, and Romantic languages are descended from Latin, which in The Dragon Prince represents Ancient Draconic. This gave me the idea that Neolandia might have an aristocratic ruling class of mages with access to primal stones. From there, and based on information from the Dragon Prince website, I came up with the idea of a decentralised hierarchy where mages are near the top, sort of like feudal Europe
The Moon Arcanum deals a lot with the power of appearance, and Soren does seem to take good care of his appearance. Could be a Moon connection there for the moths to be attracted to! I like your theory on the ruling class of primal stone mages, I think that would be an interesting way to go! Also the potential for political maneuvring between "mage" households, trying to steal or destroy one-another's primal stones, thus removing a ruling house from power as they are no longer mages!
Earth is the -element- _Primal Source_ of substance ... the people of -the Earth Kingdom- Xadia are diverse and strong, they are persistent and enduring.
Having his ability be connected to the Earth arcanum not only makes sense, but roots him deeper in the already-established world of The Dragon Prince, rather than sort of adding a new ability existing, but that idea isn't bad if done right.
@@TheoryPop Definitely. I expect he'd be able to learn earth magic at some point, which would be amazing to see. Maybe Callum can teach him some spells (even though he himself is unable to cast them as of now due to not having an understanding of the earth arcanum which is ok, but may begin to understand more of them as the show progresses). Mind you, I'd be fine if he was just a wind mage; it fits his personality, but so long as he uses that magic in line with his character, I'm ok.
I have a theory that Light Magic exists, and only Ezran has understood its arcanum (so far). Also that both Dark and Light magic revolves around connections between creatures, whereas in Dark Magic the users would forcibly abuse that connection for their own gains. And in Light, it's a two-way street, where any interaction at the very least needs consent. And because Ezran unconsciously understands this arcanum, he can speak to animals, as he speaks through the Light connection. Which also explains why the cube doesn't light up when it's nearby Ezran - because Light isn't on it.
Great video. I’ve been thinking of how Ezran’s power works for quite some time but it never occurred to me that maybe it’s traced back to one of the primal sources. Anyway, as I was saying, great video. You obviously have a passion for this show and we can see it through your videos
whoa that will be petty cool if Ezran is part of a earth arcanum for me i thought a elf was hiding and Ezran find him/her and they teach how to speak to animals and nice moon shadow suit it look good on u mate
The main thing holding me back from beliving Ezran has a conection with a primal sorce is that the box with the primal sorces would glow earth when near Ezran, which it has never done
Since Callum's cube is the Key of Aaravos and was supposedly "passed down in the family", and Aaravos is a mage of all primal and dark sources, I'm going to go on a leg and say that Sarai, Callum and Ezran are all descended from Aaravos. Faaaaar down the line. Callum just happened to find the Primal Stone and thus managed to connect to the magic around him before anyone else from his bloodline.
I think that the royals being descendants of Aaravos would lessen the impact of "humans can do primal magic." It's not a theory I currently believe, but we'll have to see what the show runners reveal in later seasons!
I didn't see any scenes of Ezran in that close proximity to the key, and the range on it does seem fairly limited. I'll need to watch through again (oh no, I have to watch a show I really like again, oohhh noooo)
@@TheoryPop its possible that nothing would show up even if he was in proximity... it wasn't until callum fully understood and connected on a personal level with the sky arcanum that it glowed in response to him... it never did that before even when he tested it on himself when he was depressed about not having any magic... its quite possible that ezran's connection isn't complete... and so he might not show up until he has a full understanding... all of the animals and elves are born with this understanding already which is why the cube responds to them... ezran might be able to utilize the earth arcanum... but he doesn't understand it fully so he might not register with the cube.
Don’t know if anyone picked this up, or maybe I’m overanalysing, but there’s a scene in a flashback where the queen (ezran’s mum) seems to briefly converse with her horse. From what I remember it wasn’t a long moment, and it might of been nothing, but I realised no one else seemed to talk about this. So I’m guessing that’s where Ezra’s got it from, but then why didn’t Callum’s receive that power?
It could be more akin to eye colour. So, my dad has brown eyes, and my mum has blue. I have blue eyes, but my brother has brown. We’ve inherited different traits from our parents, so this empathic connection could be similar?
True. You also mentioned how king Harrow seemed to have a connection with pip. Since Ezran and Callum have different fathers, the trait might have been passed down to ezran since each parent had a weak version of it, so when they combined it gave ezran his strong connection to talk to all animals. But since Callum has a different dad, his dad’s genes might have taken over the part of him that would’ve received the trait, meaning, in theory, Callum might be able to talk to some animals in the future, but then again this is a very loose and not thought out theory
One question: If he is connected to the Earth Arcanum...why didn't that side of the "Key" light up near him? I mean, it even lights up for Bait, so it *should* for Ezran as well.
My theory is he isn't connected to it "yet" and just has a special understanding of animals or maybe since he grew up with Bait he learned to understand and communicate with animals. And later on this will help him learn/understand the meaning of the Earth arcanum and he'll have Earth magic later on?
In one of the books published about the dragon prince we figure out that some people that I have a connection to the earth Arcanum have a connection to animals they are called earth druids. There are the earth druids and earth majors have a connection to rocks and minerals and the earth druids have a connection to plants and animals.
That's a good theory, and i even think every human has an Arcanum, but the humans dont notice it, or are not able to use their arcanum. Only a few Humans in the Series seem to have a deeper connection to an Arcanum. (Ezran, Callum, The pirate) But we learned in the dragon prince that humans cant do magic, but magic does not mean that humans cant have an arcanum, there is a difference in magic and Arcanums. Also Callum is able to use his sky arcanum, but maybe he is only able to use magic because his Father was an elve? or halfelve? We dont know anything about Callums father, and i think his father has something to do with Callums Sky arcanum/Magic
I just thought of a dragon prince theory, Remember how after Claudia killed the deer and did that dark magic thing for Soren to feel again? A streak of her hair turned white, the colour of moon shadow elf hair...... what if Claudia is turning into an elf??? She also said: “your gonna be better now.. that’s all that matters” obviously means something right?
I think it’s more to do with the changes/corruption dark magic can have on the user. Viren has used dark magic for years, but we’ve seen how it affects his appearance. Claudia’s “that’s all that matters” is probably referring to the innocent life she took, as well as the negative effect the use of the spell had in her. She seemed pretty out of it after healing Soren.
While talking about magic so much here it seems relevant that the system may have been inspired by part from Skyrim. To use magic, it has the words too, which are said to be in the dragon language, and the more words a spell has, so far we have seen up to three, the stronger it is. Words can also be mixed and matched too, as we see with Virians ice breath spell.
I think Ezran is going to learn that his father's soul is inside the king's pet bird Pip. Since he can talk to animals he'll be able to speak to his father directly
I think this could happen, but it'll be difficult. Harrow doesn't know how to talk in "bird" speak, so it might sound like gibberish to Ezran. Like how Lujanne's illusion spider made random noises and didn't actually talk, as Lujanne doesn't know how spiders talk. It might not be as simple as "Hi son!" "Oh, hey bird-dad!" I do like the idea, though!
Do you think that Ezran will talk with King Harrow's pet bird Pip and use him as an information source/spy as the new king? Also, what do you think about Earthblood elves?
I think there's a good chance Pip and Ezran will find each other, and Ezran will learn a lot about what has happened in Katolis while he's been gone. Pip would also serve as a good source of information, since only Korvus, Callum and Rayla reaaly seem to know about Ezran's ability to speak with animals. As for Earthblood Elves, I think they'll be very in-tune with nature and their environment, but I'm really looking forward to seeing more about them.
@@TheoryPop Cool! Thanks for replying to my comment, that was really nice of you. I also can't wait to see the Earthblood elves. With a name that cool, they have to be pretty awesome ^.^
I think it might have had something to do with the titans heart, virens spell, and also ezryns individual personality. They all combined to help him connect to the earth arcanum. Also, what if the boys were at the winter lodge for their protection during this time ......if ezryn managed to get his hands on the key of aravos when he was a baby and was playing with it right as viren cast the spell with the titans heart, it could have triggered something within ezryn and he could have gained the earth arcanum. Whoever was watching him would have taken the cube away from him and put it back to where he had gotten it from none the wiser. It might have even been callum considering he remembered it, he might have noticed the change in ezryn and freaked out putting away before he got in trouble for whatever happened to ezryn. After all, ezryn was a baby. Now callum has connected to the primal source with the cube in his possession and, in his dream where he attempt to understand the cube, it even makes an appearance showing all sides as dark magic. I truly believe that makes it a single piece of each arcanum which would allow callum to feel and emulate the magic within. Therefore ezryn could have been connected this whole time and he wouldn't even have known it because it was close to his birth.
((This is all guesswork of course and usually I hate doing this but hey here I go )). Yes he is linked strongly to the Earth source. His personality fits. Also the opposite seems more true then not as he is not showing a lot of the other Sources personality elements. Add to that that he seems to relate to his power as if he just does it. Raul’s seems to relate to that in some similar was of she just does it. And this is plausible as Claudia asked the most crazy question ever if you think humans can’t use sources. She asked “can you talk to animals” to Ezran instead of asking how did you befriend that animal or get it to listen to you. As if she guesses it ‘could’ be that humans can be do such things. And I think that hints to world secret in the story. The magic cube is the key. All the elements are one Face of the cube. And they are balanced and make a whole. Humans are all linked to all the arcanum and thus not to any one of it. This makes It so they can’t usually use any one of them. But that means that even out cute loving-wolf girl 👧 Ellis is linked to all the arcanum but mostly can only ride her friend. This also could explain why the Dragons, elves and magic beings kicked the humans out and did not kill them all - humans are all linked to their individual sources and so they rather not kill them . This theory also says that (in general) to use one, you have to link more strongly to one of those forces and thus be cut off from the others - aka to gain power you must give up other powers. This keeps the balance between them. (Balance is a theme that does keep popping it’s head up). This also means Dark magic is not just bad for the obvious reasons of murder, corruption and destruction- it is bad because it breaks this needed balance. You can get more and more power and it is easy to do - just destroy the world one creature at a time. Also it could be that it unbalances the forces of the arcanum as well. That is what I currently think and well this is very subject to change but that is my two cents.
I didn't think that Ezran's ability could be connected to the Earth arcanum. However, I do have an idea of how they can get their father back if the soul transfer theory is true and yes it involves the earth arcanum: Harrow's original body was burned on a pyre so the soul can't return to the body. So the best option? Callum has to make a golem as a vessel for Harrow's soul; to do that, Callum has to master the Sky and Earth arcanums. It fits well lore-wise because creatures connected to the Earth arcanum have the traits of being stubborn and care about history and balance; King Harrow's stubbornness is mentioned several times by other characters and in his letter to Callum, he cautions him about the narrative of history. It makes sense story-wise because when Harrow said the princes could build a "dirt-man" while they stay at the Banther lodge, it could be seen as fore-shadowing for building a golem. Maybe book 3 (season 3) will be titled Earth and focus on getting their father back.
I dont think his animal communication is magical or tied to the Earth Arcanum, but rather a product of his empathy. In King Harrow's letter to Callum, he goes into great length arguing that real strength does not come from power or the capacity to win heroic victories (things that Viren explicitly embraces), but rather that strength comes from love and empathy. That it takes more strength to love than it does to fight and defeat opponents. I think Ezran is meant to be an embodiment of this principle, showing us how his strong love and empathy for others has given him superhuman abilities that cannot be explained through magic.
Correction: Ezran doesn't communicate with Zym over a great distance. Zym, the most powerful being in their world, communicated with Ezran. It was Zym's magic being used there.
King Harrow's falcon Pip, was the only witness to his death, besides Viren. Ezran will learn the truth of that night from the falcon. He's gotta get home to Katolis.
Yes, there’s been some visual glitches in a couple of my most recent videos. They never appear during editing, but are there after rendering the video. I’m trying to fix the issue for future videos.
I think Ezran's ability come from his father's side because King harrow also owned a very close animal companion.I think they got ancestor from Earth Arcanum.that seems possible in their past.
I think the cube glows around those that have some of the Primal energy born into them, rather than a learned connection to an Arcanum. But we'll have to see if, in Season 3, the cube glows around Callum when he isn't actively using Sky magic!
@@TheoryPop as stated it glowed when callum connected to the sky arcanum but did not before then... even when he was using magic with that orb thing (which i forgot the name of)
What if Bait is the acrcanum link? Why does Bait glow similarly to creatures from Xadia? And when have we really seen Ezran away from Bait for a long time? The show makes it seem like Ezran was close to Bait since a very young age.
Thats actually silly. Its clear that if he is going that way the story has already told us how. The truth will be that connections can be made through understanding. By truly comprehending and understanding the source you can gain an arcanum. This means anyone could gain any arcanum but for some certain types would be more natural. This also goes hand in hand with the Archmage knowing them all.
@@a_silent_monk Mirror man is literally the only mention of anyone with such a gift. The birthright/bloodline stuff just seems completely counter intuitive to the message of the story and everything we have been shown. I mean Callum literally looks nothing like an elf/dragon whatever. We have zero hints about that whole thing. Zero. No evidence and the story would kinda be working against itself to introduce blood to diminish his achievement. From a writing perspective this would be a big no no.
I actually think that Ezran's ability to communicate with animals was something he inherited from his mother's side. Sarai was fairly concerned with the magma titan's life when Harrow brought up the plan to slay it. I didn't even watch the video when I posted this, I'm impressed that you thought about this too B|
This reminds me the division between psionics and magic in dnd, maybe there is something similar going on here? What if humans do have some latent ability, but it's simply doesn't originate from the primal sources, rather from within themselves. This might explain why dark magic is something specifically that humans can do. But there could be similar, less violent versions, like ezrans empathy that allows him to connect to other creatures without magic. Think about it, if he was indeed using earth magic, then the cube would have glowed, and yet so far that has never happened around him like it did with Callum. It's possible that the same secret power that humans have might have helped Callum connect with the sky element!
that cube never glowed with callum... not until he fully understood the sky arcanum and became one with it... its quite possible that ezran simply hasn't completely connected with it yet.
I think Ezran can comunicate telepathicly with Zim because they developer a conection, more than a magical one, I think Zim made the magic part, he is after all the most powerfull creature
Here’s an idea: if the theory about king Harrow is true and his soul got swapped in his birds body, What if Ezran communicates with him and learns the truth?
I kinda wonder if Ezrin could have a distant elf ancestor. Humans within the universe have no way of connecting to the sources or use magic. Just like real life. That's why it seems like Aaravos gave humans the knowledge of Dark Magic and got imprisoned in the mirror as punishment, if that one translated text is to be believed. So it could be possible that some very distant ancestor on either side of his family could be an Earth Elf, who passed down his abilities down to Ez. As for Callum, I'm wondering if he's half elf and his father is a sky elf. He has no idea who his father is and in media that usually means there's gonna be a plot twist. The whole "My father is fighting on the other side" is a popular fantasy trope. Plus, we know that Moon Elves can cast convincing illusions, so they can make it seem like they have a limb that isn't there or look completely different. (One of my friends has a theory that Aaravos could be Callum's dad, since he's able to unlock his cube and all that. I see that being a possibility, too.)
I'm not sold on the elf ancestry yet, I'd need more evidence I think. I do think it's an interesting idea though, and could go so far back (since Xadia has been split for over 1000 years) that everyone has forgotten Elves and Humans could "mix" in this way! Thank you for watching!
@@TheoryPop Looking forward to them.
Omg
*shook*
That makes so much sense.
The Earth is young and the Sky is old. The younger Brother is the earth and the elder the Sky, two places that mirror and watch over each other.
oooh
I like your poem. But I feel like earth would be the older one because the earth's atmosphere formed after the creation of the land (earth).
Thats deep 😶😶😶😶😶
PrimeX864 sky isn’t just the earths atmosphere though, the moon and stars are all considered a part of the nights sky
But Callum is on the path to master all elements like Aaravos has
Even if Ezran's ability isn't magic, the fact it aligns with the Earth Arcanum could possibly mean he forges a connection with it in a later season, similar to how Callum did.
Definitely possible, he’s got the potential to connect to the Earth Arcanum if he hasn’t already!
I suppose the question is will his connection be similar to Callum's in that he can cast spells or will it be like Raylla in that it's just some natural ability.
@@ThoraxetheImpaile100 i think more rayla
Also! On the topic of the Moon Arcanum, Rayla was the first person to see through Soren and Claudia's lies, piercing their appearance to care for ezran and Callum and exposing the reality of their lies.
That is a brilliant point!
Also moon primal creatures are keenly aware of the power of appearances,
*Human Rayla!*
To be fair, Soren started off with a low quality lie that the king was alive, Rayla knew the king was dead due to the assassination bracelet linked to him falling off. From that point she didn't trust anything either of them said.
So if the theory that the kings mind was put into his bird's body is true, does that mean Ezran will be able to talk to him?
If that theory is true, then yes, I think Ezran would be able to speak to him! Might be difficult at first, as Harrow would try to communicate in human language while in the bird's body, so it might sound a bit garbled to Ezran at first. Like how the spiders on the Cursed Caldera spoke gibberish because they just made random noises, Harrow doesn't know how a bird talks yet!
@@TheoryPop That would show that something is wrong however since Ezran knew that bird well.
Theory Pop the reason it spoke gibberish isn’t because he was learning to speak spider, it was gibberish because it wasn’t a real spider, it was an illusion, and he’s spoken to birds before, the moon phoenix, so I think he’ll understand the bird pretty wel.
I was thinking the same thing!!!!! But how would he get out of the birds body using arcanum magic?
@@TheoryPop though at the same time. Aaravos speaks through a caterpillar that sounds exactly like Aaravos. So a bird that speaks with Harrow's voice wouldn't be that impossible.
Ezran: *communicates with Zym from a far distance*
creators: not magic at all ;)
It really isn't.
If this were dnd that would be called psionics if it isn’t magic
I like to think that humans in The Dragon Prince are a blank slate and capable to wield all types of magic in comparison to magic creatures that born with a specific type. But thank to mass delusion than humanity can't wield magic it close even to possibility to learn magic. Sort of self fulfilling prophecy.
You may be on to something there. Humans have believed for so long that they can’t do primal magic, that they no longer question it.
Galen Jones the twist is going to be that he was actually human
Danger Noodle lol
Also notice how all practitioners of dark magic feel entitled to the power of the creature, and barely give it a thought unless its a cute doe in the woods. ie Bambi.
Riley Harper no I don’t think they went willingly,as a tornado has a strong sense of gravity so that means they could have been sucked into it
Isn’t light sun magic as sun magic has two different forms
-Light and fire
I saw this on the Dragon Prince amino, and I’m happy I did. This is a great video! Great job dude!
Thank you so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
Stick What is Amino?
Wow this theory is awesome! I never thought of it like that! Also your evidence is pretty good too! Season two was AMAZING I binged watched it in one day! Loved it so much! Ezran honestly is so cool! Such a pure boi
Thank you, glad you liked it! Season 2 was awesome, I’ve watched it through maybe 3 times now? Not including going through particular episodes to get the screen caps I needed for this video!
Oml anytime we put on Netflix we watch dragon prince in annoys the crap out of my mom. I've think we've watched each episode at least five times 😂 😂🤣
@@TheoryPop plus, we have seen 6 mages so far ( The dark mage in the intro, Callum, Viren, Claudia, Lujanne, Aaravos ).
Robin Duong Music Ezran will probably come back
I'm getting serious atla vibes from this thought.
This is a good observation, certainly there seems to be a connection between the colour of clothing and the characters’ traits!
Definitely!
I’m glad to know that there are other adults as passionate about the show as I am 😁
This video was really good, it really opened up my mind. I never thought of something like this.
Desired effect achieved! Thanks for watching!
Great theory and video! I like your moonshadow elf outfit ;D
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video! And I think the artist did an amazing job on my Moonshadow outfit!
Its RUNAAN! YEY
It makes sense and I hope this is true. Also personally I think Callum is connected to all of the Sources and not just Sky.
The word you're looking for is subconscious (a part of your mind you're not aware of but still influences you)
Unconscious means no awareness at all, not hidden awareness.
This is a pretty plausible theory. I appreciate the sources and the in-depth thought you put into making into this theory.
Hope to see and hear more from you in this fandom!
Thank you! I've got a few more Season 1+2 based theories in the pipeline for the future, hopefully they'll be as interesting as this one!
Came here from twitter already interested to see more theories from the dragon prince
Ps: subscribed
Welcome, thank you for subscribing! I will be doing more Dragon Prince videos in future!
I hope your channel blows up in viewers!
Thank you so much! I'd love that, but honestly, I'm pretty happy with how many people are currently watching the theories!
I friggin love this show, it runs so deep! I love it!
It feels like it could work within the rules of the show as we know them so far
Thank you for the kind words! I’ve been hoping for a great high-fantasy series for a while, and The Dragon Prince fits the bill nicely.
whoa that will be petty cool if Ezran is part of a earth arcanum for me i thought a elf was hiding and Ezran find him/her and they teach how to speak to animals and nice moon shadow suit it look good on u mate
A hidden elf tutor would be a pretty cool development in the show!
I love your Runaan mascot
Thank you!
Terry is an earth elf, and he talks to plants. We haven't seen him communicate with any animals yet, but that doesn't mean he can't.
I wonder if there are any scenes of Ezran with the key of aaravos. If not it could mean the creators are trying to hide that he has the earth arcanum
Their answer seemed like they were trying to dance around the question, it could very well be magic.
Now that I think about it we'd never seen elves connected with the rune of the earth and the ocean...neither in the intro of season 1
Ez can talk to animal...prediction for season 3: he meets up with bird-dad King Harrow.
ehh, Viren says he needs dark magic in order to switch souls, and it's highly likely that the bands are connected to the souls, not the body.
PROOF OF SEASON 4
YEEEEESSSS IT ENDED ON A CLIFF HANGER, IT IS JAW DROPPING
YEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHH THE DRAGON PRINCE IS NOT OVER
Such a perfect season!
Yea
'I'm an earthblood elf. Trees are me best mates'
Trees to meet you!
Great video!
(Ezran, Callum, The pirate)
But we learned in the dragon prince that humans cant do magic, but magic does not mean that humans cant have an arcanum, there is a difference in magic and Arcanums.
Also Callum is able to use his sky arcanum, but maybe he is only able to use magic because his Father was an elve? or halfelve? We dont know anything about Callums father, and i think his father has something to do with Callums Sky arcanum/Magic
I just thought of a dragon prince theory,
Remember how after Claudia killed the deer and did that dark magic thing for Soren to feel again? A streak of her hair turned white, the colour of moon shadow elf hair...... what if Claudia is turning into an elf??? She also said: “your gonna be better now.. that’s all that matters” obviously means something right?
I think it’s more to do with the changes/corruption dark magic can have on the user. Viren has used dark magic for years, but we’ve seen how it affects his appearance. Claudia’s “that’s all that matters” is probably referring to the innocent life she took, as well as the negative effect the use of the spell had in her. She seemed pretty out of it after healing Soren.
Theory Pop ohh
While talking about magic so much here it seems relevant that the system may have been inspired by part from Skyrim.
To use magic, it has the words too, which are said to be in the dragon language, and the more words a spell has, so far we have seen up to three, the stronger it is.
Words can also be mixed and matched too, as we see with Virians ice breath spell.
Maybe it's just the power of kings, next we'll see Ezran warping around and collecting weapons.
As he can talk to animals that’s a power of the earth and hopefully in the coming seasons he use earth magic
I don’t know if this is further evidence, but Ezran did figure out the stone-rock combination to Viren’s dark magic cellar.
You’re absolutely right, he did do that! That could be another hint at an Earth Arcanum link
This makes so much sense
plot twist, many human have a connection with an arcanum, they just don't realise it
That'd be an interesting twist!
This is such an intresting theory!
Thank you!
The seasons so far seem to be labeled with the primal sources(Season 1: Moon and Season 2: Sky), so if Season Three was Earth...
You are probably right, each of the seasons of the show will be named for one of the primal sources
Holy crap I remember you from long ago! How long have you been making videos again?
A little bit over 2 years! I took a 6 month break though, while I was trying to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with this channel
King Harrow's falcon Pip, was the only witness to his death, besides Viren. Ezran will learn the truth of that night from the falcon. He's gotta get home to Katolis.
Absolutely, even if the theory of Harrow’s spirit being in Pip is not true, there’s still going to be some new revelations from that event.
This may be crazy, but what about a Half Elf heritage? It’s Lord of the Rings-y, but it may explain some things
I’m not convinced on the elf heritage yet. It’s an interesting idea, though!
I wished I had paced myself. Now I got to wait a whole year for season 3
It was only 5 months between season 1 and season 2, so hopefully it won’t be a whole year!
That WOULD explain the fact thatnhe could tell the difference between rocks and stones.
This just made my day lol genuinely 😂😂😂😂 just thinking back to that moment
When is season4 come out
I wish I knew, we still need season 3 to be released!
did it glitch out at 6:23 for anyone else?
Yes, there’s been some visual glitches in a couple of my most recent videos. They never appear during editing, but are there after rendering the video. I’m trying to fix the issue for future videos.
Love ez can talk to animal. If he has the earth arcanum I'm excited
It’s a pretty cool ability! He’ll have the perfect information gathering system!
I use Rayla as my profile pic on ps4
I think Ezran's ability come from his father's side because King harrow also owned a very close animal companion.I think they got ancestor from Earth Arcanum.that seems possible in their past.
It would be pretty funny if it was revealed that humans did have magic all along, it was just harder for them to become mages
In season Three we figure out Ezra and even has a psychic connection with the baby dragon.
Mm you have a lot of good points but if Ezran is connected to an arcanum wouldn't the cube have glowed around him?
I think the cube glows around those that have some of the Primal energy born into them, rather than a learned connection to an Arcanum. But we'll have to see if, in Season 3, the cube glows around Callum when he isn't actively using Sky magic!
@@TheoryPop it glows in response to Callum when he's connecting to the sky while he's going through his revelatory vision/dream
Mabey theory about Callum's connection to all arcanums
Thats actually silly. Its clear that if he is going that way the story has already told us how. The truth will be that connections can be made through understanding. By truly comprehending and understanding the source you can gain an arcanum. This means anyone could gain any arcanum but for some certain types would be more natural. This also goes hand in hand with the Archmage knowing them all.
@@Merilirem but maybe Callum has a connection to the all arcanums because of his father
I think Ezran is born connected to Nature or connected to the Forces of elements.
I actually think that Ezran's ability to communicate with animals was something he inherited from his mother's side. Sarai was fairly concerned with the magma titan's life when Harrow brought up the plan to slay it. I didn't even watch the video when I posted this, I'm impressed that you thought about this too B|
There’s a definite possibility that the empathic nature of Sarai’s personality passed down to Ezran, yes!
Shouldn't they key react to Ezran and show earth arcanum?
Maybe a person with the traits of the Primal source can use the abilities of that arcanum.
I think this is likely! A human with traits that match a particular primal source would probably find it easier to learn how to use that source.
@@TheoryPop Exactly. That's why everyone one the team will have a primal source they connect to. Maybe Soren and Cladia will too?🤨
Well that would explane how he new the diffrance between rock and stone when geting into the room the dragon prince eggwas in
I was thinking that Ezran grew up having the egg near to him. Does that might have an influence knowing he has being so sensible and empathetic?
Did we see Callum test the cube on Ezran though? I can recall him doing it multiple times to Bait, Zym, and Rayla, but not to Ezran.
that cube never glowed with callum... not until he fully understood the sky arcanum and became one with it... its quite possible that ezran simply hasn't completely connected with it yet.
Season 2 was great love your character lol
Season 2 was brilliant, I loved it! Thanks!
I think Ezran can comunicate telepathicly with Zim because they developer a conection, more than a magical one, I think Zim made the magic part, he is after all the most powerfull creature

I love the fact that Rayla and Callum is traveling alone together now. OK IM SHIPPING THEM. Cayla or Raylum
Raylum, definitely!
Here’s an idea: if the theory about king Harrow is true and his soul got swapped in his birds body, What if Ezran communicates with him and learns the truth?
The arcana are almost like a miniature zodiac.
That's true, they could be Xadia's version of the zodiac maybe?
