I just had Indian quests visiting Finland and Lappland. They loved it. As si would love visting India, where never been. I believe your forecast for high class torism to India will blossom in the years to come.
Beautifully photographed - you've really highlighted much of the detail that a passing traveler would have missed. I agree with you that India will rise over the next decade as a new upmarket travel destination. The transportation infrastructure is already in place. Marketing and high end leisure activities need to follow.
I have to say, given that hotels in India are generally not very expensive, on a trip to Bengaluru I absolutely wouldn't hesitate to spend $360 on a place like this for even just one night. I spent only $150 less on a chain hotel in Denver, Colorado.
Great hotel plus great video. I’m glad many top Indian hotels are uniquely ‘Indian’ in its architecture, interior design, food, lush green setting and landscaping and hospitality. I’ve been to India more than ten times in my younger days but yet to stay in one of these fabulous iconic hotels. I hope one day. Thanks again.
yes this is our culture, india has rich culture and the land of kings and most diverse country in the world, in every state has different culture, forts in every district.
I stayed at Leela Palace Bangalore for around 15 days last year. Really spectacular hotel! Agree with all the points you made in the video. I do agree the breakfast could be a little better but the service was amazing! Since I stayed for a long period the staff would greet me by name, and often have what I usually order ready for me. If I was getting late they would be kind enough to pack my coffee too. I really dont find this level of service anywhere else!
I'm going there next month. Do you have something in mind that I can request the hotel while checking in? (something like kind of room, on which floor, etc. etc.)
I just came across this and felt so nostalgic. I grew up as an child of expatriates in this town when the hotel opened and we loved the buffet dinners and the beautiful lobby. I couldn't believe how not much has changed, but nothing felt dated when seeing this review. I will look forward to the day I return to India, cause if I come back to Bangalore, I would instantly demand to be booked here. 🎉
As always the Leela Palace is beautiful, but your presentation, music, editing and narration made me feel more luxurious than ever. I almost felt like I was staying at the hotel and experiencing it.
Hi Just one correction Nilgiri is not the flower that blooms once it 12 years but its a different tree, the oil from nilgiri is used for aches and is very good, it refreshes well but has a pretty strong fragrance. Normally you might know its name as Eucalyptus, Kurinji is the plant whose flowers bloom once in 12 years. you were spot on when you said Breakfast at Oberoi is better, specially their masala dosa for breakfast :)
Yes someone else mentioned it. When I was researching I saw info pointing towards both eucalyptus and the 12 year flower… since the soap smelled absolutely nothing like eucalyptus, I assumed it was the other one. Learn something nee everyday 😉
I Never stayed In any Of the Leela Hotels, but one of my Elder Cousin Work in Leela Hotels, In his opinion When The Leela Group Manage The Leela Hotels, the properties have much better services Than Recent Times.... Kudos to you for the research into surfacing the little details, like the ingredients that went into Tishya toiletries. Just wanted to mention Nilgiri is actually Eucalyptus, whose essential oils are a key element of many premium toiletries. The flower the blooms once in twelve years is Neelkurinji which has no fragrance. Just a minor correction - taking nothing away from your spectacular work.
Interesting. When I was researching it I do remember some materials referring eucalyptus, but now- I’m not sure why I went with the 12 year bloom narrative… possibly just bc it doesn’t smell anything like eucalyptus to me. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Quality vlog as always. A breath of fresh air with some unbiased opinion in today’s world. Spend several months here in the early 2010s... Amazing place. I still think of it fondly. No surprise but almost nothing has changed. Thanks for a nice walk through memory lane! Still had a la carte breakfast back then. Worth 100.... 🙂 One of the things you missed and which is definitely unique is the gym and the sauna. They are amazing. Good review!
Truly a mesmerising place to stay. And what a video ! Hats off to you for creating a true masterpiece. I see many reviews and travel vlogs but the content you create is something different. Amazing work..

A delicate-but health related-question: Did you encounter any ‘tummy troubles’ from your many dining experiences throughout your visit to India?
No, but I’ve lived in SE Asia for nearly a decade and likely wouldn’t be phased by what may cause others trouble.
Its mainly from street shop food and tap water. Eating from a quality restaurant and drinking only bottled water can avoid tummy problems.
