Wife and I stayed on the beach in Acapulco for 2 weeks. It looked exactly like this. Hot, dry heat.. fantastic beaches, clean beaches and water. Never saw anything violent or dangerous (although like New York you can find the bad areas. You just stay away for them) I pray they've recouped from the latest hurricane. But I can't recommend it more. The people are beautiful too
Acapulco is very beautiful. I go two or three times every year. It is a lie that it is the 7th city with the most homicides in the world, it seems like a smear campaign, the images say it all, that development can only be achieved in an environment of peace.
Acapulco has a subtropical climate and golden sand beaches, the opposite of Puerto Vallarta. Unfortunately, the dollars changed direction towards other destinations such as Cancun, Los Cabos or Puerto Vallarta.
"Unfortunately due to gang violence, drug cartels and increasing homicide numbers the city is unsafe. It is the 7th deadliest city in the world. " Check your numbers - not even close. That was 4 years ago. Acapulco's numbers have dropped by 50% since then. Acapulco's per capita murder rate in the past year was 57, Cancun was 48. For perspective Tijuana's number was 107
Sadly that's still horrible. Usually cities around the world have an average of 4 to 6 deaths per 100 thousand people. Acapulco with 57 means it's at least 10 times worse than any average city in the world.

Thanks for perpetuating the biased negative comments the kind that keep the internacional tourists away I invite you live here for a while and tell me how much gang violence you see. Acapulco is my home for more than 20 years and I have yet to see the violence you mentioned beyond the norm of any large city. Gracias y adios

a bit similar but Acapulco is a much bigger city with mountains closely surrounding all sides of a much smaller bay.
