    Thanks for this. My Rode Wireless Go 2 came with a TRS to TRS and I could not understand why it wouldn't work. Before today I had no idea what TRS or TRRS was. I feel like im now a cable geek. Love it. Everyday is a school day!

      You're very welcome! If you're using the Wireless Go's, the TRS to TRS cable is correct. However, if you were trying to connect it to your phone though, that's when you'd need the TRS to TRRS adapter to connect to your phone. I usually try to keep those attachments with the cables so they're easy to find.

    I've got a TRS to TRS cable, will this connect from my Vocaster One to my iPhone?
    Thank you in advance, Diana

      No worries. If you see 3 black bands think smartphone and computer connections. If you see 2 black bands think camera, audio interfaces and microphone kits. These are the general audio devices rule with small camera specific type gear but some equipment is built to use something else. (For example, the Rodecaster Pro 1 has 3.5mm port on it but it's for TRRS since they made it to connect with smartphones. So you still need to check what your specific gear requires.)
      For the Vocaster, they have a 3.5mm port on the back and that's to connect your cameras to. So in that case, you'll want to use a TRS cable into the back of that device and since you're connecting it to your smartphone, you'll need a TRRS port style cable to go in there.
      Some cables and mics you buy come with a TRS or TRRS adapter. So if you have a little adapter (one end female 3.5mm port, the other side being male 3.5mm port w/a trrs end) and you can pop that on and connect it to your phone.

      @@DianaGladney Ohh I got you now. I thought using the wrong wire would mess up the mic or iPhone
      I actually have an adapter shaped like the letter Y, with one marked with a headphone symbol and the other marked with a mic logo, so I'll definitely test it out 2mor and update you on the outcome☺
      Thank you very much, Diana much appreciated. 🙏🏾

    I have my camera and my Zoom Podtrak P4. I connectec my trs cable to both ends and I was not picking up any sound at all. I tried all settings and nothing. Today i am going to purchase a trrs adapter..... Hopefully this works. So frustrating😖😖😖😖

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Have you looked at the manual for you Podtrak P4 before placing an order?
      It'd help to know how exactly the ports are set up and what they require. If you haven't read the manual, I'd recommend going there first, then seeing what's what. That way you can order what you need in one order vs several.
      Sometimes even though it's an audio device, it does require a TRRS cable. For example, the Rodecaster Pro 1 had a TRRS port specifically on the rear for the smartphone connection. The idea being since it's for smartphones, match the connecting device vs defaulting to trs connections for typical audio interface and recorders.

      @@valdivs_27 Gotcha. Then some backup cable and adapters can help you run some tests. See what Zooms support may know to help you out as well or even reach out to B&H photo video’s chat support, they’re really good.

    Thanks, this really explained what I struggled with, I can’t find a trs to trs cable longer than 50cm, and I need like 2m. My question is, aux cable is the same as trs?

    Are there any good quality female trrs to male trs adapters with easy connect out there?

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There are plenty of adapters on Amazon. You can get those with cables, or just the base adapter. Just check the ratings based on what you’d prefer and go for it. Any adapters I’ve acquired came with various lapel mics over the years.

    Am i listening to this correctly?????.....or thats a wrong info....Hi Diana kindly check again, cause you said all things wrong... TRS is tip ring sleeve normal cable used for audio only not mic. where as TRRS is tip ring ring sleeve mainly used for microphones to record vocals.....

    • @DianaGladney
      @DianaGladney  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope, the details in the video are correct. If you’re using these cables mentioned for wireless audio connections, camera audio microphone ports, you’ll need TRS, not TRRS.

      @@VQVaughn You need their mic adapter for their action camera. That’s what allows traditional mics to work with it. If you do have that fully connected and still no juice, reach out to their customer service and see what info they can provide to narrow down the issue specifically.
      Sometimes cameras like those don’t operate the same as a mirrorless camera. When you start needing proprietary adapters, it can get tricky. Some third party adapters fit the system fine, but don’t always work as they should. So, sometimes you have to get the manufacturers version and if you still hit a wall, get customer service involved.
