    The tongue arch is a barometer of certain embouchure muscular efforts as one ascends. Its that simple. The tongue arch does not "compress" the air.

    So I’m finally understanding this concept. I hit my first double g this week but how do I articulate in the upper register because the tounge is arched.

    Absolutely incredable video on the topic! Thank you very much and thanks God I know some English to be able to understand Americans first of all.
    I wish I had my trumpet with me to try this great advise out cuz the explanation looks super understandable. Will try it asap, thank you.
    I clearly understand the tongue goes up as we play higher, but the details is the key. Looks that it goes higher for regular register notes but when u play higher than that it goes not just up but forward too, is it the right understanding?
    Thank you very much

    Is it really the middle of the tongue (front and back wise) that does the work? Is it right to keep the tip of the tongue fairly stationary, with the middle going up and down?
    I found that the tongue arch really allows me to hit upper partials pretty well, but by the end of practice my tongue feels like it has a harder time getting to the place where it needs to be. Is this just fatigue?
    I was wondering also if the tuning of the instrument could have a large enough effect as to make any of this more difficult. Like can I get the instrument sharp or flat enough that I will not hit the partials accurately?
    Thanks.

    Do you have any tips for practicing the tounge arch? Any exercises or drills you would recommend?

    • @LarryMeregillanotrumpetlegacy
      @LarryMeregillanotrumpetlegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes .. Its a simple but effective way.. K tongue your Clarks using a very hard attack. This will strengthen the back of the tongue used in the arch

    i have a question. my tongue doesn't work. What am I doing wrong? And another question. how wide do i have to open my teeth behind my lips?

    • @LarryMeregillanotrumpetlegacy
      @LarryMeregillanotrumpetlegacy  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      general rule ...about the width of a number 2 pencil. you may close down slightly in the upper register and open slightly in the lower register from that width.
