    This law is there since 2002:
    And…
    “(10) Vintage vehicles, meaning historic vehicles or vehicles of value to collectors or intended for museums, kept in a proper and environmentally sound manner, either ready for use or stripped into parts, are not covered by the definition of waste laid down by Directive 75/442/EEC and do not fall within the scope of this Directive.”
    It’s great if people talk slack when they can’t read or understand a bill.

      Thanks, its a very amarican vieuw in my opinion
      This law has more to do witch cheap vehicles that no one will deem worthy of preservation
      Not classic cars (which also are exempt from technical examination anyway is a lot of countries)

      Thank you for your comment. It's a directive, not a law, that you're referring to. The ELV proposal, if it passes, will become a regulation that supersedes member states' laws.

      Exactly. It's also clear from the directive that you can continue to make repairs to your car or have it repaired, in order to maintain road-worthiness. And you can sell your car if it's road-worthy. It *may* impact the sale of "project cars", i.e. a car that's halfway through a big restoration job. Under these rules, there may be a requirement that the car be made at least somewhat road-worthy before it can be sold.

      Thank you for your comment. What I address in the video is not the directive but the proposal for an ELV regulation. The proposal states that you may make repairs if the cost does not exceed the value of the car, calculated based on materials and workshop hours. Otherwise, it should be scrapped and submitted for recycling. In Sweden, there is no requirement for a vehicle to be inspected prior to sale.
      The ELV proposal consists of 140 pages, followed by 100 pages of consultation, 432 pages of investigations, and 895 pages of appendices. Everything is written in bureaucratic English. In my two videos, I have relied on information from our largest motor organizations (MHRF and KAK), among others, where their legal experts and specialists have reviewed all the material and are critical of the parts of the proposal that may affect our motor hobby. They are just part of the consultation bodies in Sweden that are critical of the proposal.

      @@mattekandfriends I love cars, don't get me wrong BUT Come to Romania, all of your second hand trash cars from Germany, Sweden are imported here, where you can't put needle on the pavement because your cheap second hand cars have been imported here, which has lead to Romanian's brain to rot and lead them to believe that it's their right to be born in a car. The roads are horrible here because the Government is poor, so they have lead to social, public services to be gutted only so they can pave roads, roads which are badly paved in the first place, because the politician class have started to build their own road construction companies which steal the money from the road building fund.

      @@mattekandfriends Unfortunately youtube will delete my comment. I will try to comment in a way that maybe I won't be censored. Low quality cars are being imported into Romania. Romanians have started to demand good paved roads. Government has no funds so a lot of services have been cut to pave roads. Politicians have started to make an career of building road companies, road companies that afterwards win the contracts for the road pavement, their quality is very low, because they skip materials in order for the politicians to pocket the diffrence in the wallets. In a nutshell.

    The US only has to worry about overbearing control on vehicle specifics and requirements, fuel sources and production materials. Our infrastructure is too heavily invested in automotive support in order to prop up the auto makers and to keep public transport restrained.
    So I own a 1986 Nissan and a 2012 Honda, neither are Blackbox cars. Neither are digitally connected to the outside world in any way. The government will never control my modes of transport.

      That's not the goal. People by themselves are often times not reasonable, so the state has to step in when this being unreasonable causes harm to society.
      I do however agree that this is not the point here, as these old stinkers are not daily drivers.

    • @mattekandfriends
      @mattekandfriends  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I want to add that if the proposal goes through in its current form, it will affect not only old stinkys, but also old electric cars and stinkys that have been converted to electric drive or to newer, more environmentally friendly engines.

    Fake news... The ELV directive is about what to do with vehicles that are being scrapped, reusing or recycling parts appropriately. So it has nothing to do with detemining that cars SHOULD be scrapped, only what happens to the materials IF a car is scrapped. It has nothing to do with what's said in the video.

    • @mattekandfriends
      @mattekandfriends  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for taking the time to comment. The proposal for the ELV regulation aims to set requirements for the design of vehicles and the handling of end-of-life vehicles.
      What is the basis for your statement about “fake news”?
      All the information in my two videos is based on what our largest automotive organizations (MHRF and KAK) and their lawyers and experts have reviewed. The ELV proposal is 140 pages long, and there are also 100 pages of referral, 432 pages of investigations, and 895 pages of appendices. All of it is written in bureaucratic English.
      All referral bodies, including MHRF, KAK, SMC, the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation, and many others, agree that the ELV proposal in its current form could have devastating consequences for the Swedish motor hobby.
