I don’t hate Tracy dying that makes sense if you look back at earlier episodes especially when ted does the whole “45 days” speech. What I DO hate is just sending him back to robin at the end her and barney fit perfectly and they ruined that. They could’ve just had a nice moment with ted & the kids remembering their mom but noooo gotta send him back to that toxic lunacy of a relationship

@@Donut-jm6by so they didn’t keep the last part unfortunately (Lily paying Marshall) but in the actual last episode (not the video the actual episode) at 13 minutes and 50 seconds in the bar you can see Marshall paying Lily because of the bet. I just finished watching the show again. Obviously the elephant in the room will always be that ending. Personally, I loved every single moment of that finale up until Ted and Tracy's final moments on that platform. If the show had ended after that, as the train passed, I think it would have been perfect. When they continue and reveal that Ted eventually ends up with Robin again, it greatly takes away the emotional weight of Tracy's death, as we can also see in this table read. Josh was getting choked up reading his lines about Tracy then he was back to normal when they continued. It's How I Met Your Mother. It should have ended with Ted and Tracy.
I think the writers must have gotten into their own heads about the ending because of the title of the show and what they imagined people would say. The kids are just projecting what the writers feel the viewers would say
@@someonewatchingyoutube7026 A few things to remember that are interesting. Tracy met the love of her life before meeting Ted as well. She never thought she would. so glad that they included the restaurant scene. Imo, the ending only really works with that scene because it shows that Ted is truly happy and that "T. M." (as they keep calling her during the read) is so much more than just a "consolation prize". It is sooo important for building up the dynamics that leads towards that final moment.
ending was shitty but the buildup was phenomenal. Literally hate that they could've done so much with Robin's character but in the end its as if she didn't have any development at all.
I’ve always been so torn on the ending. Because I do like it but it isn’t perfect. Them having their first conversation at the station is the perfect ending. How they met.
All of Season 9 was literally devoted to showing why Barney and Robin don't work, and yet people don't understand why Ted and Robin get back together at the end. The deleted dinner scene was really important, though, to show that Ted had moved on from Robin. Its a shame they couldn't have freedom for the runtime of the finale and had to cut many things short. I really like how realistic the ending is, with how messy and unsafe relationships can be.
Actually it did the opposite, that’s why people are angry. It’s because the show continuously showed us the compatibility sexual and emotional, of Robin and Barney and the absolute train wreck that ultimately became Robin and Ted. The 180 at the end destroyed years of storytelling.
@@taraz6786 @taraz6786 It's clear that you and the majority of others do not understand that HIMYM, unlike others, is grounded in reality when it comes to relationships and life, despite being a sitcom. I was fully rooting for them, but I still love the ending when I consider how realistically well-thought it is, although the pacing for S9 was horrendous. Sure, most Barney and Robin episodes generally end in, "we have these issues but we love each other and can make it work" but their relationship is not secure or safe. They're constantly disagreeing, not fully trusting each other, and second guessing their relationship all the way up to the altar. It's mentioned multiple times how their relationship is built on lies and to be frank, an extremely shady and manipulative proposal. There's even an entire episode of Robin's mom talking about Robin's dad and Barney being similar, plus if you consider the timeframe, the whole final seasons happens over 2 days of just bickering and uncertainty. S9 clearly is not about Barney and Robin showing they're meant for each other, but about them setting the stage for Ted to prove he's ready for Tracy. Only Barney was the one able to really take away Robin from Ted's life as their friends, and Ted wouldn't dare to steal her away from him like he would from someone else.
@@aldutroix3944 I get that it's you who don't understand, but not because you don't understand HIMYM. It's because you don't understand storytelling as a whole, apparently. Sad endings have to be earned just as much as happy endings do, but people just rely on the lazy "sadness is realistic" BS argument to justify poor storytelling. For instance, you mention that Season 9 was showing all the reasons why Barney and Robin wouldn't work. It's funny how NOT A SINGLE ONE OF THEM was the reason why they got a divorce. They didn't got divorce because any of the issues they showed through season 9. They did because Robin was travelling all the time and dragged Barney with him. A problem that had never been brought up in any of the 5 seasons their romatic relation lasted. Not to mention that pretty much all of it happened off screen. We only got to see literally their last fight about it. You don't get a free pass for such massive storytelling catastrophy by saying "it's grounded in reality when it comes to relationships and life". And on top of that we have like a bajillion other storytelling problems, but I'm just focusing on the one you mentioned.
The writers actually had two completely seperate endings and they relesded the alternate ending with the DVD They admitted they had both endings made and were literally still deciding up until two weeks before it aired lol so they definitely didnt have all this intentional foresight they just kinda made it up as they went and the alt ending is WAAAAY better@aldutroix3944
Lmao! You want to talk about a realistic ending when the entire 9 seasons, premiering over almost a decade, showed exactly why Ted and Robin weren't a good couple. For 9 years, we watched Robin be indecisive, and put her career over love. For 9 years we watched Ted throw away any good relationship for a chance with Robin, despite knowing that she didn't want marriage and children. For 9 years, we watch two people fight on and off when it came to romantic needs. Barney and Robin quite literally get divorced because of Robin. Because she's never home. Because of her career. If she can't make her marriage with Barney, who did NOT want any children, and who was very content with her independence and freedom, who the HELL would Ted, who was famously not okay with her career over family commitments, learn the put up with it? Just because Ted got his kids, suddenly he would be content with Robin never being home? He wanted that white picket fence, dog in the yard, sipping coffee in the morning with his wife kind of love. Robin will not be there for Christmas. She will not be there for birthday's and anniversaries, most likely, due to her literally having to travel the world for her job. Not only travel, but the hectic schedule that would be required of her to be a journalist on such the level that she became. No doubt she'd also be on-call, as well. Not only does the show spell out why they would never work out for 9 YEARS, the ending also commits a HUGE disservice to Ted, who finally let one of his best friend's live. That's why he finally found Tracy. The minute he finally let go of Robin, and the delusional prospect of them actually working out, despite all of the red flags, allowed him to actually meet a woman. In the back of his mind, even if it didn't work out with Stella, Zoey, Victoria, whoever, he knew he had the prospect of Robin, still. Truth be told, ANY of those past girlfriend's, could have been Tracy. Ted's whole character is contradicting. He says he dreams of marriage, but he was really dreaming of Robin. When she finally became unavailable, by growing to commit to Barney, Ted was forced to let her go, and those rose colored glasses could finally be removed. Enter Tracy. The entire show is the saying of "love comes when you least expect it." Ted running back to Robin completely ruins the beauty of that, AND removes his character growth of 9 seasons in the making. "Realistic ending?" Could not be farther then. The last 5 minutes of season 9 Ted, is basically season 1-season 9 1/2 Ted. It's ridiculous.

@@frankkkbard0n315 He finally let go of Robin, once and for all, when he launched that balloon, and Robin was perfect with Barney. They ruined Robin & Barney's happy ending so Ted could have one. Why couldn't Tracy live. What a lousy ending.
If you those two head script writers ever sees this, do not ever get on my way on LA, you ruined one of the most important tv series of many's life. I refuse to except your bs end that ignores all character developments, for me the end is the one on TH-cam called alternate ending, Tracy did not get ill after 10 years, they hopefully live happily for long time, and the series ends when they meet and then Ted says 'kids, thats how I met your mother'
HIMYM spoiler alert: I really don't hate on the ending at all. Yes, ofc it's crazy sad that Tracy dies... BUT. I understnad what they wanted with it. The story starts from when Ted meets Robin for the first time. They are bound to be together even though they want diffrent things. Ted want's kids, a family. He got this with Tracy. Robin wanted to travel the world, be free and she didnt want kids, she couldnt even have kids. She got to see the world. Even tho it's horrible that Tracy has to go for them to happen again, I think it's a wonderful and thoughtout ending. Endings can't always be unicorns and rainbows, luckily :P Ted and Robin fulfilled their lifelong dreams, and still got to be together in the end.

Yes, thats what I am always saying. There is this video on YT with a different ending and at first watching, I realy thought that this one is a better one, but after the fifthish watching of HIMYM, this Ending is exactly what the whole show is all about.
No, Robin never loved Ted the same way ted loved her, and to me the final does not feel like a happily ever after ending, it just feels hes making the same mistake again and it would and badly again
@@frankkkbard0n315 He finally let go of Robin, once and for all, when he launched that balloon, and Robin was perfect with Barney. They ruined Robin & Barney's happy ending so Ted could have one. Why couldn't Tracy live. What a lousy ending.
I wonder why they changed Tracy's last name
How did they change it?
@@camilaarredondo4163 changed to Tracey mcconnell

thank you so much for this ❤
Lets rewinf lets rewinded all the time
Rewind by goldspot, I’m obsessed with this song! Got into it after my most recent rewatch of himym
Crazy that no one started to get angry at this awful script.
It's awesome
Can’t believe the stuff they cut…
Tracy Marconie?
Marconie?
All of Season 9 was literally devoted to showing why Barney and Robin don't work, and yet people don't understand it.
interesting tracy’s last name was changed!
Wait, they write the whole 9 seasons before acting?
No it's written season after season but sometimes the showrunner know how they are going to close their show.
In this case they're reading for the first time their last episode.
No everyone showed up on set one day so they decided that let's write something as we go along
