CAR WASH | 2023 Petit Accutrac 360-i (Touchless) | Swish Car Wash, Palmerston North

My first car wash centre, my fist experience of "off-board drying" and my first ever Petit. This was the first ever Petit car wash installed in New Zealand (though a second has already appeared in Timaru). This was an interesting and different experience to any wash I have used before. Very quick and efficient machine for sure!

This model of carwash (well, not this exact wash) was not only my first Petit I ever watched, but the first time I'd ever been curious enough to click on a carwash video; thanks to The Elevator Channel for that. They're quite unusual for being incredibly, incredibly fast indeed. Shame it's got no wash stage indicator, though.

I've always found those indicators fairly useless, because when the car is covered in soap you can't see what it says anyway.

Cool to see your thoughts on the US marketed machines. The reason most washes here have offboard dryers is because we prioritize speed, and onboard drying is a big slow step, having if offboard gives the customer more control of their dry and makes the wash faster.

I think it is something that will catch unsuspecting Kiwi's off-guard, as off-board drying is so incredibly rare here (like, pretty much non-existent). I think that's partly because of the types of washes we have here...Brush washes these days are pretty much all European, with WashTec and Istobal being the two brands getting almost all the business for brush washing systems....whilst our Touchless machines are nearly all American (except for the Istobal Tracer), they're always configured with on-board drying. I guess it's just a thing that Kiwi driver's are used to having on-board drying.
