Yea just think about Anko. She shows up suddenly with lots of potential and hints about how dark and twisted life as a ninja can be. There were even hints of an attraction between Anko and Naruto. Sadly the focus returned to the flat chested flop called Sakura.
This fight is the one and only time where the dub outdid the sub. Shino's english line "while an ace in the hole is good...two aces is better" is so freaking badass.
The trump card line makes more sense for this scene. Having an ace in the hole means playing a stud poker game with the Ace facing down. If Shino has two aces Zaku would know he has at least one because all the cards but one are face up. So his ace in the hole doesn't mean anything and he would be aware of that. On the other hand, if he has a trump card (the most powerful suit) in his hand he's been saving until the end, he would be fooled into thinking he can win with it. Shino's trump card is the unbeatable one (highest possible card from that suit), so he knows his victory is guaranteed: "what a true trump card is".
This is one of those times where the manga did it so much better, the wound on Shinos face with the bugs crawling out from under his skin, Zaku's arms getting litteraly blasted apart and us being shown pieces of blown apart bug in his hand holes. I remembered getting chills reading that chapter and it being a huge eye opener for how badass Shino could be.
2:34 Say what you will about English Dubs, but I feel like Shino from that dub had the perfect line for that scene. "You see, while having an ace in the hole is good... having two aces is better."
Fun fact: Shino is the second smartest in the series, being only behind Shikamaru, and Tying with Sakura, who was proven to be very smart, so that's another to the list of his wasted potential, along with the fact that he had earth nature chackra, and is described as a support ninja, but didn't learn healing at any moment of the series. In this essay I-
You know, for a smart person sakura was pretty stupid. I mean she didn't have to fight, just use her "smarts" to win over her opponents like Shikamaru but no... she's to lazy to apply herself in battle but to diligent to beat the crap out of her teammate
Out of all the characters, Shino was my favorite in terms of appearance and demeanor. Really disappointed me how much they down played his character in the main story line rather than the fillers.
To me. Shino is my fav (other than kakashi) and had the potential to be over powered. Cause I believe at one point he said that if a bug survived a jutsu. He'd be able to breed it and have his bugs be immune to that jutsu if I'm not mistaken. That's pretty op and A LOT of potential to play with
Shino was definitely the hypebeast of the group. He deserved so much more than he got in the series. Dude looked like a menace and could have been in the ANBU
The great thing about the Chuunin Exams was a lot of the characters felt like real threats. Like obviously Gaara is the big one, but still, you had heavy hitters like Sasuke, Lee, Neji, and Shino. As we follow the protagonist Naruto, we can really feel the anxiety as he gets stronger and smarter, and we don't know how he'll measure up. Before his life is at risk, it's his pride that we're worried about.
0:20 back when I watched it dubbed as a kid I distinctly remember Shino saying "you wouldn't beat me even if you used both arms" and I thought to myself "this guy is stone cold".
Fun fact: if you read the manga, Zaku did not just have a few holes in his arms. His arms literally got blown off as the air pressure built up within the arms.
Shino is a clever guy. He always consider every details and make careful planning. These are the reasons i like him even though he is not powerful like Naruto and others.
Im not a fan of Naruto anymore. But what initially drew me to the series was seeing characters use these interesting strategies to defeat their foes. It wasn't about straight up power but strategy.
Yea it’s sad that it turned into a knockoff of Dragonball. The real enjoyment for Naruto fans craving more actual ninja stories and strategy should check out fanfic. Sadly that’s all there is for these awesome characters like Shino and Anko.
A few years late on this but as cool as Shino is here, Zaku was also a menace. Team Dosu was taking on practically every Leaf Genin that came their way in the forest, and their techniques were rather interesting too. Zaku got very ahead of himself and reckless, and Dosu I believe was a contender for actually being a Chunin with his intelligence and fighting style. Its a shame they got killed off in this arc, I think they could've been good additions to Orochimaru's crew had they survived.
this scene was even more brutal in the manga because zakus arms actually imploded and got ripped off from the elbow below....shino was such a badass back then
Not only was Shino so badass early on that they played Orochimaru's theme for him, but they played it for him *while he was kicking the ass of one of Orochimaru's underlings.*
After Sasuke, Shino is my next favorite character (not to mention my 2nd favorite clan after the Uchiha) I was sadden that Kishi didn't develop him a little more like he did with Shikamaru.
Shino could easily be the most overpowered Shinobi with his skill set. He's basically Shikamaru with millions of bugs that can do a lot more and reach further than Shikamaru's shadows.
Ngl I was really hyped for the sound ninja but all 3 of them were just killed off before the end of the chunin exams, I did feel kinda bad for Zaku tho
@@famousmadlad6361 I think they decided to kill all the 'extra character' before the end of chunin exam. (just to gather up the 'main character' such as Rock Lee, Neji Hinata, or Kiba Inuzuka.) And unfortunately, the character in Naruto such as Kin Tsuchi, Oboro, Baiu, Tsurugi Misumi ETC were take such a small roll on the chunin exam. I can easily say they were just a testified wasted character to show us how much the exam is brutal and hard to pass. But this was such unfair. I know this is just anime but I gotta say, they throw them self an epic opportunity to grow Naruto series more greater. (Now its an Burito Shippuden and the whole intro song now days is too damn cancer, give me a break damn!) Remember when there were so many random ninja on the first chunin test? I'm completely disappointed that they all got failed just before the 3rd exam. And most importantly, Dosu Kinuta was so powerful. I don't understand why he got killed by Gaara so easily even tho Dosu got a plot. As long as Orochimaru still alive, Dosu should be alive! I presume final goal of Dosu supposed to kill Orochimaru in the end. But that didn't happen

This fight is the one and only time where the dub outdid the sub. Shino's english line "while an ace in the hole is good...two aces is better" is so freaking badass.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, so trueee, I came here to listen and watch this line in japanese, buuuut it's so pity🥺😤
*Insert dirty joke here*
Agreed. Sub is usually better but dub has it's moments (I'm mostly a dub person btw.)
back when shino is badass,,,
hes now a clown in boruto
he was a clown even in shupideen, stop blaming boruto for everything. Most of the side characters were useless in shupideen too
Fun fact: Shino is the second smartest in the series, being only behind Shikamaru, and Tying with Sakura, who was proven to be very smart, so that's another to the list of his wasted potential, along with the fact that he had earth nature chackra, and is described as a support ninja, but didn't learn healing at any moment of the series. In this essay I-
You know, for a smart person sakura was pretty stupid. I mean she didn't have to fight, just use her "smarts" to win over her opponents like Shikamaru but no... she's to lazy to apply herself in battle but to diligent to beat the crap out of her teammate
he didnt kill zaku
orochimaru did
Orochimaru sacrifice Zaku as well as the girl sound ninja to become a reanimation of 1st and 2nd Hokage
He sacrificed kin too
Jimmy Valencia if I’m thinking of the right person then I’m pretty sure Garra killed him before this part
@@thatguywithquarters454 garra killed the guy with long hair, not zaku
Anego Leon oh yaaaa
Back when this guy was so mysteriously overpowered, he was my favorite character after Lee
Shino is so underrated, in every battle he actually defeated every opponent with the first hit.
漫画だったら虫の所為で斬空波の逃げ場所がなくなって腕が吹っ飛んでるんだよな。
one of the best misterious konoha's shinobi
And one of the best naruto’s forgotten friend
Shino has always been held in high regards. His tactician abilities can actually rival Shikamaru.
Shino was one of my favorite characters when Naruto was first aired on our TV. Damn Kishimoto really fucked him up in Boruto
Give Zaku some credit for still fighting with one hand
Shino is so cool here.. But now he's not
Hahah midlife crisis
Ikr.
I wonder if shino gets tired of giving that essay on how his bugs work to every enemy he fights LOL
To be fair, he only fought 2 ppl canonically
Shino really finished an entire fight in 3 minutes. sad he didn’t get any more Character Development than this.
1:08 There are rare species in parasitic beetle that attack their prey in a swarm, eating its chakra.
Zaku and his whole team were the most throwaway ninjas in the fucking series
Shino was so cool in Naruto. Extremely underrated...
Zaku : *Flashback*
Also Zaku: *Lose*
Me: *Wait that's illegal*
shino is such a killer...and the old soundtracks...gosh😍
Out of all the characters, Shino was my favorite in terms of appearance and demeanor. Really disappointed me how much they down played his character in the main story line rather than the fillers.
Shino in the original series was such a badass. Literal goosebumps everytime he fought.
To me. Shino is my fav (other than kakashi) and had the potential to be over powered. Cause I believe at one point he said that if a bug survived a jutsu. He'd be able to breed it and have his bugs be immune to that jutsu if I'm not mistaken. That's pretty op and A LOT of potential to play with
Honestly, the whole wind tubes in his arms/hands is awesome! We didn’t get anything else like that since.
Demon fox goes brrrr and they all fall
@@casualcookin3893 That's why the Chunin exams was peak naruto and Shippuden wasn't
@@lapplandkun9273 I know Shippuden was 5/10 Og Naruto was 10/10,Boruto is 1/10,but hopefully we get Minato anime which would be awesome
0:20 back when I watched it dubbed as a kid I distinctly remember Shino saying "you wouldn't beat me even if you used both arms" and I thought to myself "this guy is stone cold".
Shino: yeah i wanna become a teacher when i grow up for no damn reason
Pissed me off
Felt he's much more suited for anbu given his abilities and demeanor
This was the first fight i saw that made me go back to the beginning and watch naruto shino was terrifying
2:32 "Nothing personal..."
But i must go all out, just this once
Forgive me master....
Back when Shino is still a badass
Was badass not still.
Fun fact: if you read the manga, Zaku did not just have a few holes in his arms. His arms literally got blown off as the air pressure built up within the arms.
Shino is so badass. I can't wait to see how he develops in Shippuden, I'm sure he'll be one of the key characters in the story.
Yeah im sure he will, but i think Neji and Lee would be developed even better, those guys were insane in the OG series!
this my favorite age of shino he was a lot of steps ahead and wasn't hit once. Now that he's older I feel like he's not half this smart when 1v1
He clearly tanked a ninjutsu to the face in this chapter lol
Shino is a clever guy. He always consider every details and make careful planning. These are the reasons i like him even though he is not powerful like Naruto and others.
"Shino fights a mobile suit? Holy BALLS that sounds awesome!"
*2 seconds later*
"Dammit."

Make a character look like an absolute badass just to shelf them for the rest of the series. Truly an anime moment lol
Back in the days when he was badass
Shino didn't even bother to properly punch him, just backhanded him 🥶
Imagine if this is the same Shino that academy students in Boruto have to deal with, he was so ruthless in OG Naruto.
確か奪還編にシノ連れてかなかったのって余裕で全員に勝てるからって聞いたことあるソースは忘れたのできかないでください

Epic
Every fight in chuunin arc was practically amazing even the small skirmishes

Remember when they used that weird or epic music but amazing? Sound likes this 1:39
Its not weird its epic
If you listen this in TH-cam with earbud, its awesome

2:08 Shino, some of your bugs bit your left cheek
Guess they kinda came out of there.
It was gross
@@tysonleechang1774 Indeed.
Shino made antman looks like a clown
The fight build ups, the music mixed with more brutality...
This how we like it!
Naruto: "I can control bugs."
Naruto Shippuden: "I can summon meteors."
To all the young folk at Boruto
That's your school teacher, when he was this mysterious ferocious little boy with bug
あまりにも強すぎて出番を減らされた男
this scene was even more brutal in the manga because zakus arms actually imploded and got ripped off from the elbow below....shino was such a badass back then
Not only was Shino so badass early on that they played Orochimaru's theme for him, but they played it for him *while he was kicking the ass of one of Orochimaru's underlings.*
こんだけの数なら服の下に這いずらせるだけで発狂死しそう
Zaku and the female sound ninja really got screwed over since childhood by Orochimaru. They were just puppets and disposable to him. Poor kids.
One of my favourite character in naruto
Than this shit buroto
I watch for konohamaru in action..so cool..
Not only that. Shinos dad was strong enough to take on S rank missions solo
This scene is one of the ones that really makes you go 'Wow, the manga is so much more violent' 😂
One of the most underrated characters of the narutoverse.
After Sasuke, Shino is my next favorite character (not to mention my 2nd favorite clan after the Uchiha) I was sadden that Kishi didn't develop him a little more like he did with Shikamaru.
I'm really frustrated that Shino was never done justice as a character. It's one of the biggest screw-ups of the series.
chunin exams then: Kill to survive.
chunin exams now: PAPA
Shino could easily be the most overpowered Shinobi with his skill set. He's basically Shikamaru with millions of bugs that can do a lot more and reach further than Shikamaru's shadows.
A ideia era ser um Exame Chunin, mas a maioria aí já tinha nível jonin pra mais. Zaku e Shino eram bem fortes.
Back when Shino was scary. Unlike whatever we got in Boruto
IKR.
Ngl I was really hyped for the sound ninja but all 3 of them were just killed off before the end of the chunin exams, I did feel kinda bad for Zaku tho
Exactly! I really hate how the writer just wasted them. They had so much potential.
Magic Man everything about the sound ninja were wasted
@@famousmadlad6361 I think they decided to kill all the 'extra character' before the end of chunin exam. (just to gather up the 'main character' such as Rock Lee, Neji Hinata, or Kiba Inuzuka.)
And unfortunately, the character in Naruto such as Kin Tsuchi, Oboro, Baiu, Tsurugi Misumi ETC were take such a small roll on the chunin exam.
I can easily say they were just a testified wasted character to show us how much the exam is brutal and hard to pass.
But this was such unfair. I know this is just anime but I gotta say, they throw them self an epic opportunity to grow Naruto series more greater.
(Now its an Burito Shippuden and the whole intro song now days is too damn cancer, give me a break damn!)
Remember when there were so many random ninja on the first chunin test? I'm completely disappointed that they all got failed just before the 3rd exam.
And most importantly, Dosu Kinuta was so powerful.
I don't understand why he got killed by Gaara so easily even tho Dosu got a plot.
As long as Orochimaru still alive, Dosu should be alive! I presume final goal of Dosu supposed to kill Orochimaru in the end.
But that didn't happen
Russian Guy yeah it is sad that basically almost everything Orochimaru did was practically forgiven
