I know this song is literally about a soldier, but I've gotta say it fits pretty well when applied to the idea that depression is an internal war that can remove you from yourself and the ones you love. And then there's the sense of disbelief and relief when you finally find yourself home. Whether you take this song at a literal level or you project your own emotional meaning into it the lyrics are really wonderful either way. I'm glad Tom made this song.
This is pure Greatness! Tom is one of the few Singer/Songwriters who can make me ( 33 Years old) Travel back into my Teenage Years and relive my best Years again! A Time when my Parents were still around, having the Time of my Life with great Friends around and my first Girlfriend, going Skateboarding and feel so Alive and just be fucking Happy for the little things in Life! Matt Skiba is a GOD! Alkaline Trio's first few albums were so beautiful, raw, and sincere. Goddammit is basically punk perfection. But honestly he's no replacement for Tom. Blink needs Tom, and Alkaline Trio needs Matt.
