They still ruined every thing they could. See how Walter is struggling to say no because it's what feels right while fascinated by the opportunity presented and the respect for the chemistry, how the pacing and the TONE of Gus speech changes while he slowly walks towards Walt, as an imposing figure. It's a speech about the morality of being a man but he is not a convincing talk, he is forcing him to obey with his charisma. Walt cannot make himself look up after it, so now he is struggling with this new fear, the first time he is feeling fear towards Gus, after all the time he thought he was the one controlling the relationship between the two. I think most of them are at least decent actors. But they're excepted to play the characters like the original actors did, instead of having the role adapted to them, and they obviously don't have the actor and art direction needed. Scene 1: The English dialogue contextualizes White's importance on a bigger scale than the Spanish dialogue does for Blanco. The acting makes Cielo seem indignant, and the music adds unneccesary tension that makes the scene seem more of a clash between Walter and Cielo, while the lack of music in the original and Anna Gunn skillfully portraying someone who's very, very afraid make the scene what it's supposed to be: Walter making Skyler doubt who she should be afraid for. Scene 2: BB's camerawork and the vendor's acting and dialogue help develop the Twins without them having to say a single word. You can tell that Marco and Leonel are no-nonsense professionals who want for and have nothing but their work. MS does not do this. And the vendor in MS's acting was phenomenally bad. Scene 3: In BB, the choice of location helps emphasize the danger (lack of structure = Gus is exposed, Loose soil tossed up describes how screwed Gus is if he's hit). In MS, limiting the evidence of gunfire to teeny little puffs of smoke makes the audience question the threat level. Mike being in front of Gus in MS followed by MS Gus turning his lip at the sniper makes him seem less bold/assured and more cocky. Also the MCU on MS Gus tells the audience nothing new. Scene 4: Why is Blanco's face in shadow? Is he obscuring himself? White's face is completely in the light because he's trying to make a good decision, and he's being honest about it. BB Gus's tone changes when he repeats his statement to Walter, betraying how he's really feeling and what he really wants. MS Gus's tone does not change. Blanco has a very odd expression on his face as Gus approaches; does he think Gus smells? And Gus sounds like the hero of a Saturday morning cartoon saying the moral of the episode.
