Our pleasure! It was a bit of a push to get this one out but hopefully everyone enjoys it and perhaps a few people are inspired by it too. We would love to do more of this kind of thing where we can share some of our experiences and learning to hopefully give others a leg up in starting their adventures.
When I bought my first boat, computers had the size of an Apartment building... my film camera had cassets a foot long, and when Wi-Fi started we needed to call the computer and then make a connection with the computer...a variety of 20 boats (or so) further... living on board 50 ft sailing boat for about 13 of the last 15 years.. Sailed halfway around the globe... got stuck in Asia. The thought of having a channel did pop up and technology advanced. We met with various channels in early stages and decided that privacy was worth something. We had clearly not heard of editing those days. Now doing a business online is so much more logic. Software is available, camera Computer Connections and uploading is as easy as a push on a button. and its great you all put in the works, as we get to see ahead where you go.... into passages with reefs that we still avoid at night but have seen before, which makes it so much easier. We may actually start a channel of our endeavors... later... may be...A good topic would be to show how you actually put things together, from filming editing, searching music, programs you use etc.. Is it a fulltime job or can you get away with 2-3 hrs a day? Keep sailing.. I think thats the best part of it
Glad you enjoyed it. It’s so rare that we get to hang out together as creators. Cool that the cruisers creating content and YCA pull us all together every year. And that the organisers of this presentation were able to seize the opportunity.
Eva from Sail Life hit the nail on the head when she said "Nobody wants to watch us go to the grocery store", Mads started the channel as a DIY and I believe it's important for new TH-camrs to decide if they want to be a vlog/daily life or niched like DIY boatwork. I love that Eva and Mads bought a new project, I will have another 3-5 years of boat work and joyful banter to watch on their channel 🙂 In the same way, I don't want to watch David Shih being too serious about details in boat work, as I love to watch his channel for his fun way of presenting how unorganized he is... Just wish you would post more often David 🙂
@@LostYogi I watched some before that… but I think a lot depends why you watch any sailing content. This channel does make boat work interesting. But I sail and have been following you tube sailing channels for ten years because I aim to cruise long term once I am ‘free’ so I am genuinely interested in where to anchor and where to shop etc more than watching refits… however well done these ones are.
The old joke is that Sail Life should change their name to Boatyard Life. Hey Mads, you do plan to have some sailing on your sailing channel, don’t you?
@@PondoSinatra680 so true. I have a friend who much prefers boat work channels and I prefer actual sailing… so we often swap info on channels and ones like Yabba he followed religiously but now only watches now and then… but I was the opposite. I don’t mind some rebuild ones… where it is done well and done fast as part of the sailing… like Florence did. And they had the smarts to work inside so could work late into the evenings and in bad weather. But I knew Mads was definitely more into being a TH-cam rebuilding channel when he took on that Antares… it seemed insane to me… but my friend was so happy he was back doing boat work and not sailing.
Love getting the chance to share things like this when they come along. Hopefully it sparked a little inspiration. We are both recovering from a manic trip but hopefully back to normal (if you can call it that) soon
Hi guys, wow, that was a good get together with all the different TH-camrs talking about their experience with TH-cam and their boats/yachts Anyway, keep up the good work guys always enjoy the video. Lots of love from Australia
Great video. Many of you have become friends from afar. I have had dinner with Dave several years ago and communicate often with several YT Channels. Keep up the great work until I retire and get my own Cat
@RedSeas 😆 aye, we need to stick together! Currently on the west coast of Australia. Just completed a 500nm trip down to Perth. Will be hanging here for a while, saving, boat work, the lot!! Look forward to watching more of your vids! Hopefully our hulls cross paths one day 🥃
For me YT is more about making legacy things for my family. Bit like a modern photo album. They can see what I did. I have had a channel for years (under a different log in). I was also a video editor when it was actual video and am amazed how long some people say they take. I guess a lot is working through the raw footage. I am in the process of starting a new channel… carpentry not sailing. Am I sad I have watched all the channels there at some point. But to be honest only yours holds my attention. I think we are similar people… I was married to a primary school teacher for 31 years. I am 57 but still never feel like an adult.
Why are so many utubers so down on SLV? Is it just jealous people I thought all sailors were a close group? Thank goodness they don’t care what other people think. It’s so sad and pathetic. That is why almost 2 million people little them. I’m one of them. I noticed at the rewards no cheer for them and all the rest got cheers for their success. They are happy and have a healthy family and it makes people happy.
It’s an interesting question but there wasn’t any mention of slv in this panel…actually, the one mention that was made but may not have made the cut was when most of us referred to them as being part of the inspiration that got us all started. So no hard feelings here I don’t think. 🤷♂️
Great episode you two! We were at Annapolis this year but missed you. Hope to see you (again) on the water somewhere.
Thanks! Sorry we missed you. It was another jam packed year at the show for us. Hope to catch you out there on the blue some time
I'm glad you released this one, because i was sad i had to leave to go home before it happened. Thanks guys!

I must be the oddity I liked their cruising content.
@@julianbatcheler9970 could it be you started watching them while they were cruising?

Thanks for sharing such useful insights from that seminar! We hope you`re feeling better and that things are going your way.

Bland is probably the last word on anyone’s lips when they see Dave 😂

Ah, no way. Scottish sailors..hello from a fellow Scottish sailor! Glad to find some brethren 🏴
Hey hey! How you doing? Great to read a familiar accent 😂 what part of the world are you bouncing your keel around?

I only request that sailing channels stop with the coffee scenes. We get it, you brew the coffee then drink it.
Never see that on Red Seas… we don’t drink coffee 😂
