      Adam House I agree, we need more dynasty teams, a team that you hate or love, a team that you identify with, look at the 70s they had more than one Dallas, Pittsburgh, Miami, Oakland, Minnesota! It started to drop off in in the 80s how many maybe 3? The 90s maybe 2 in the 2000s only New England, the level of play has fluctuated from one team to the other free agency has done this

    • @raydarable
      @raydarable 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      NFL players only started coming on field for the National Anthem in 2009.
      The reason: The govt. paid them to stage patriotic displays to boost military recruitment.
      The Department of Defense and the National Guard paid the NFL a combined $12.3 million between 2011 and 2015, so the next time you think NFL players should stay out of politics, just remember that politics injected itself into the NFL first, and these players never got a say in being used as army recruitment tools.
      Don't like players protesting? Petition the government to reallocate those funds to something productive and let the players make their own choices in the locker room like they used to.

      @joelates5334 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, however the equal chance for economic opportunity will in no way bring an end to the racialized, systematic dolling out police brutality. These issues are mutually exclusive. Social justice for blacks will not be achieved through economic opportunity within a system of white supremacy. I like what Ray Lewis is doing, however economic development (in & of itself) won't change the practices of law enforcement in America.

    You know that age range also had more close family members who fought in the two world wars and Vietnam too. People don't care what is being protested. They care how it's being done. American's feel like they have been slapped in the face by a group of men who they spend their hard earned money to watch play a game. Those players could have marched down the street in protest, worn certain shirts in protest, very few people would have cared. Knelling during the anthem? Nope.

    Ratings drop because of national anthem protests that aren't even seen on TV?
    C'mon.
    People aren't watching as much football because the NFL has almost completely lost its way. Keeping up with this tepid football league has become far too expensive for what it's actually worth - THIS is why interest is sharply dipping.
    Plus, Roger Goodell is a tool - forgot about that part.

  • @BlimpCityFeeder
    @BlimpCityFeeder 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm glad Colin took a stand with the anthem as I wound up doing research; seeing that the 'Go Back To Africa' chants started with its' creator Francis Scott Key and the omitted stanza about 'Colonial Marines' (slaves offered freedom fighting for Britain). That reason alone I would support his taking a knee. Everyone talks about Colin taking a knee but no one talks about Police Reform in which he mentioned in CA "..Cosmetologists are mandated 1600hrs of training before getting their license, but for some counties P.O. training isn't even 1/2 that and they're issued a badge and a gun..." As far as the ratings are concerned; the 'protest' is a scapegoat as I saw Mets fans drinking, carrying on during the same Anthem on Memorial Day. Ratings are down due to over saturation, too many teams, and too many bad plays, mistakes, missed tackles and POOR PLAY. Houston Texans only looking good when the Colts collapsed as the other 56 minutes was horrible to watch, same with KC visiting Pittsburgh; even J. Mara Giants Owner talked about the 24-3 stinker on Monday Night vs the Vikings. There's not enough talent to support Fantasy Football, which in itself turned the NFL from 'Sport' to 'Entertainment'.

    In my opinion, the ratings have dipped because the NFL is the NO FUN League because it all of a sudden wants to be more family friendly. Way too many penalties for players celebrating a big play which is simply taking emotions out of the game. Touchdown dances were fun and entertaining and now you have unsportsmanlike penalties for shooting a bow and arrow on the sideline?? C'mon man. By taking out the entertainment factor, the NFL has hurt its product because the level of play doesn't always bring the goods. If you're not watching games because ONE player didn't stand up for the national anthem, that's a little pathetic.

    As far as the NFL, it has become stagnate, parity is not good for viewership. People like to watch greatness, not goodness. the College game hasn't taken a hit because all the games mean something, and there are great teams that dominate.
    Players have the right to protest. The team's also have the right to fire them for actions they deem detrimental to their business. If you want to combat racism, point to a racist law or a racist person and we can all fight against it together. Otherwise you are causing more animosity, just to make yourself feel that you are a good person and deserve some symbolic pat on the back. Each case should be taken as a separate issue. Keith Scott should not be lumped in with cases like Walter Scott.
    Not everyone that disagrees with the BLM movement is racist either, there are many black people who think BLM is a fraudulent organization. And they have very good reasons for thinking so. Look up ties to George Soros, anti Israel, open borders to obtain votes. And no I'm not voting for Trump.
    There is a huge issue with the wealth gap in this country. People on the left mistakenly equate this to the wealthy doing something amoral to obtain this wealth, and in most cases that's not true. A community is only as good as the crime in that community, white or black. Clean up the crime, the businesses will come, the jobs will come, the schools will come, the good teachers will come, the money will come, and the cops won't have a reason to come.

    Shannon Sharpe has always been an outspoken critic of what America really is, the people. He criticises everything we stand for and he would be out in front of these disrespectful players actions leading their demise.
    I confess I have never cared for the man's opinions and was never a fan. I have not and will never watch a program when he expresses his views.

    This round table will have more teeth when Skip and Shannon takes uncomfortable show topics (DOMESTIC ABUSE, ANIMAL CRUELTY, DISCRIMINATION, PED's PROTESTS and ect.) to town hall arenas in front of live audiences. Maybe Fox executives should set 2 hours aside per month dedicated to just that.

    Uh did Shannon just suggest that a bunch of old dudes aren't watching the NFL because they are racist? What was the point of bringing up the ages of people? They could have been any old people that didn't really get involved with civil rights. This story just sorta confused me conceptually from shannons pov. I get where he's coming from but the amount of people who are openly racist in the country is very low now so I just kinda think that was a reach.

    Its not as much about the protests as it is about the game has changed. I have been watghing football for over 40years. I don"t know the rules anymore. It takes a hearing to decide what a catch is. I cannot look at a replay and know what the outcome of the deliberation will be. I also don't now what is hitting too hard and what is a man tackling a man. The referees can dictate the outcome of these games by judgement calls on so many different variables. The game is garbage now. Forget Kapernick, the game is garbage. I never thought I would say this , but I think I would rather watch soccer. Just convert the stadiums and get the money behind soccer. Stop beating the Kapernick dead horse. The game will continue to decline now that the game has changed too much to be traditional football. Its over, Mark Cuban said it years ago and he was right. It has nothing to do with Kapernick.

    Let me be blunt here. There's a problem to be sure, but it's not one that should be pulled into the nfl. The people who are kneeling I personally have no problem with. It doesn't hurt me none and is their right to do so as fellow Americans.
    Having said that, given how divided the country is it should be noted that there are other ways in which to bring attention to this tender topic other than kneeling during a part of what is American tradition. Side note though: In many schools now kids/young adults no longer have to stand for the pledge in the morning because it's their right to and not to do so. It's the same thing here but on a larger scale that people seemingly forget about.

      We don't invade countries, we help them by dividing out our military power in times of crisis to keep friendly relations so those countries continue to export resources to the United States.

    Don’t lie to yourself Shannon. Casual fan! No I was a diehard fan! My team not good. No! I live four miles from Gillette Stadium. I use to live in foxboro. I could hear the crowd from my front yard. It’s not just Colin kapernick. It’s not the rule changes. It’s not the head injuries. It’s the way the nfl rammed the whole pink campaign down our throats. All the while making countless millions off of our donations. It’s the barrage of the no more campaign. Making every man in America out to be some kind of abuser or racist. It’s the nfl taking taxpayer dollars to honor soldiers. Why are you guys justifying a form stupid entertainment. Is now some big platform to scream about all the injustices of the world. I got news for you. It’s not entertaining!! It’s belittling and disrespectful to your viewership. Until you remember that your (sport) is just simply entertainment. Face it, in the unlikely event that society crumbles tomorrow. Running fast and catching footballs has absolutely no bearing on reality or society. With that I bid you farewell and goodbye. God bless
