@@someboi4903 Are you on crack? That was like a piece of cake. Besides, when the mma round started, Rodtang literally didn´t know what to do. If he switches to mma, he would lose everytime if he continue with that "I hit you" "now you hit me" muay thai style. Even on the feed Demetrious would beat him on the mma round. He also needs to change his striking for mma, not just get better on grappling or bjj.

If Rodtang can one day master MMA ground fighting, as he has mastered Muay Thai, then he will be a champion. He may even get revenge for his recent MMA loss.

Dj will already be retired and that's fine, they don't need to fight again, DJ can just pass the baton over to Rodtang so he can dominate.
i'm sure he will be an exceptional grappler but most likely never world class/top level. that being said he just needs good grappling defense so he can cave heads in. lol
He won't master ground fighting like he has muay thai, but he doesn't need to. He can learn great ground/takedown defense in a much shorter amount of time and focus on what he does best.

I keep hearing that but in his fight with DJ he was not dominating the stand up at all... he even got caught a few times. As for his wrestling defense we seen how well that was lol.
I've been waiting for this. Thai fighters like him that can learn to stuff takedowns and produce their own will dominate in mma.
Man Im not trying to be mean but as a lifelong MMA fan and someone with a little background in training..... its rare for a pure stand up fighter to dominate mma. Yes there are a few and yes Rod is capable of it but lets not think that just any athlete could do it. You did see how one sided his match with MM was right?

Just needs to work on his wrestling defense and probably get to a purple/brown belt level in BJJ. All doable in 2-3 years, considering his age the potential is clearly there for MMA.

I wonder if he’s taken the blue print that Adesanya had placed. He’s gonna have to just bolster his take down defence and defensive grappling hard! So stoked for him to transition!!
His striking style is very different from Adesanya's though and I'm not sure whether his style works so well with Adesanya's approach. I think Saenshai's or Lerdsila's evasive style would work much better for a transition to MMA.
Rodtang is a short guy for his weight class, he can't use his length like Adesanya

He is a formidable champion in his fighting discipline, however, if he can’t defend against a takedown, and wrestle he’s going to lose many times in MMA. He needs wrestling basics and some basic submissions and escapes or he won’t go far.

With a good grappling coach I feel he can translate pretty well. If he can develop good takedown defense and not get hit while anticipating them, he'll smash any MMA fighter on the feet around his weight.

@@Teddy-se8qb Compare the two. Rodtang is a top tier striker fighting other top tier prime aged strikers in his weight class. Jake has only boxed TH-camrs and 40 year old wrestlers with 30lb disadvantages. Muay Thai also translates to MMA 10x better than boxing.

Most successful MMA fighters that lean heavily on striking are those that can maintain range, counter well and most importantly rarely if ever get get taken down. Muay Thai fighters who like to kick a lot and get close with the clinch game are often very vulnerable to takedowns.

Rodtang will have the best Muay Thai/standup in general in MMA. I will be excited to see him fight in MMA and the money will probably be better for him as well.
Well you have to wonder, because the reason you don't see the same kind of aggressive standup is particularly because of takedowns, you can see how he acted wheb fighting Johnson when it was the mma round, that us kind of normal and then he went in and got tapped out pretty quickly. That is why mma is superior, because it combines more realms of fighting.
