They construct bunkers, hid their AA guns in caves so that the Republic bombers could not bomb those guns. I mean you could say why not do orbital bombardment. Well, even if they try the Geonosian could just hide in the caverns underneath the planet and wait for it to stop and then resume their defense again. The Republic have no choice but go down there and do it the hard way.

Cody basically saved the entire battle, if he hadn't held Point Rain for as long as he did Anakin and Ki-Adi-Mundi never would have been able to reinforce them and create a proper landing zone, trapping them all on Geonosis
The very first time I ever watched this scene, I was actually surprised that the gunships carrying Jedi were shot down, especially the one Ki-adi Mundi was in.
Worst version of D-Day for sure, the landing on Geonosis was so bad, the republic didn't have air superiority & the enemy anti air was still at their best.
The music, or lack thereof, is really what completes this scene. The way the gunfire and explosions overwhelm the soundtrack when it's playing, and dominate the scene when it's not, is definitely part of what makes this such a great battle scene.

When I look at this I wonder has the Republic learned nothing after attack of the clones. They could have easily done a bombardment then use ground forces on the surface to attack the shield generator. This would have avoided so many clone deaths
In all reality…that really wouldn’t have worked. The geonosians would have gone underground the minute that happened. And seeing as their tunnels and the droid factories were deep into the planet….they would’ve been in this fight the minute they launched a ground invasion

I wouldn't have even invaded the planet. If orbital bombardment didn't do it, I would have focused on blockading the planet and prevented anything from going in or leaving. Unless I missed something in legends, it doesn't look like the separatists had a presence in space to stop the Republic fleet.
Cody was my favorite part of this whole sequence Calm (relatively), collected, and taking complete charge. I feel like Cody gets overshadowed by Rex way too often

Geonosis is the Middle East of Star Wars with Umbara being Vietnam! I would say Felucia possibly would be a better choice instead, but they didn't have that much in terms of coverage compared to the Umbara Arc with the 501st

This Second Battle of Geonosis seems more challenging than the first, by how federation was able to shoot some gunships or AT TE transports before they were able to land.
4:10 anakin and Ahsoka exchange is interesting here anakin is trying to focus in the battle at hand while taking in the loss of his men as well as probably his master who is a brother to him and even takes a moment to Comfort Ahsoka at least a little to keep her head in the game. Remember, she's still a teen. Kind puts some things into perspective.
I think this battle shows the compromise. What if in the second world war there had been helicopters and they were used in battle? There would probably be many casualties even though it would be quicker to send troops to a suitable landing point.
I believe that Anakin being enrolled in the military was somewhat of a good thing. Yes, he was a bit aggressive and his tactics are… questionable at the same time it helped him grow and learn about key life lessons such as grounding himself to stay in the present and not let distractions get to him. In his personal life, he was always insecure about being a Jedi Master, losing his relationship with his wife, heck he lost his mother and that pain and frustration was overwhelming. I guess that part of being angry and sad was released in his combat experience as he was able to “lash out” those feelings. It is very interesting and whenever I see him teaching Ahsoka, it makes me feel very comfortable because he is doing his best to do something good, to help Ahsoka to deal with things that he had trouble doing in his own life.

I'm not a tactical expert, but surely it would have been strategically wiser to orbitally bombard the enemy artillery positions and aircraft deployment stations before deploying the landing craft. Venators might not have been designed for it like the Imperial ones were but as was shown by the destruction of Tipoca City, they are capable of executing bombardments of ground targets.
Depending on how long into the war this happened compared to the episode they were introduced. No one can’t say that the clone with the chaingun/ rotary cannon isn’t hardcase. What proof do you have?
Why J-1 cannons didn't specifically targeting the Acclamator assault ships? On Ryloth their fire was extremely effective against this type of big troop carriers.

Well the first battle was exclusively the Droids doing the fighting. The Geonosians actually did a lot of the combat in round 2.
