I don't normaly talk about plugins.. because for me hardware has been the best sounding. However.. after spending a few days with Logic 10.4's vintage EQ's and ChromaVerb.. I am just blown away! It's like being in a tape based studio once again. The seperation, dynamics and overal quality is superb! Like tape at 30ips.. you can throw anything at it.. and it will sound awesome & easy to work on. You can keep adding to it and everything is still seperated. Logic 10.4 is now "finaly" doing the same!
Fantastic!!! I just have updated my Logic today!!! But to get it, l had to update to High Sierra the computer before!!! It took me the whole day but fortunately it is done!!! Thank goodness for this tutorial!!!
hi! Beginner's question :P At 1.33 you select an instrument from the browser, and drag it onto empty channel that's empty (no midi notes there). When you play the cello, I suppose you do it using a midi keyboard that you have connected. Right? (I know this prob sounds like a dumb question lol). Also, if I import a midi file (that someone has already made for me), onto a channel, then can I just drag any instrument I want onto it and have logic play the notes in any instrument? And, LAST question: is there some kind of tool (already included in logic) that will "translate" an audio file into midi? So, for example, I can drag an audio piano file, and have logic create a midi file with the same notes, so that I can then end up with the same melody in, say, guitar?? Even better, if I can drag an audio file of an entire track, and have logic detect the bass line and give me the midi for it? **As you can understand, I can't play music lol. ;)
When installing this update, did it show up in the App Store/updates like normal? It is not showing up for me. I contacted Apple and was told first to upgrade to High Sierra (I had Sierra 10.12.6 the most recent update before High Sierra). after doing that with no change, I was told to "install" Logic again from the App Store despite already owning it with the most recent previous update. I'm halfway done, but having serious doubts.
Richard Jensen just upgrade to Sierra in High Sierra your 3rd party plugins won’t work so Sierra 10.12.6 is just fine www.macobserver.com/cool-stuff-found/macos-sierra-installer-download/ Link is here u can still get it
Damn, this is a nice video... but it would have been GREAT to have your voice softer and the SOUNDS hotter... every time I cranked up the volume to hear the reverb and tone of instruments-then you'd talk and nail my ears!
Hey Ken,,, couple of questions,,,, i'm a guitar player what midi device would i need ton connect to my computer to use Logic pro..? also is it best to have a midi keyboard to add some of the other instruments..? thanks great demo
Hi. For a guitar, you wouldn’t need a MIDI device. I recommend using a solution like iRig to hook a guitar up to a computer (assuming it’s an electric guitar). That’s a cheaper option, but it might be a good starting point. As for a MIDI keyboard, that wouldn't hurt either! I use this CME product: amzn.to/2oHOht7
Zee-Al-Eid Ahmad Rana kinda.... garageband is good but can’t be compared with logic pro x, it’s like comparing a cute kitty cat vs a Tiger, both have paws and look cute and huggable but there’s a difference
They are very similar visually however the features are completely different. Garage band is very limited, yet Logic Pro gives you a much bigger “toolbox” of features
They have been getting more similar recently. I would use garage band to make music for a while, and only purchase logic once (and if) you feel like garage band is holding you back. Garage band is essentially logic with some features, and some deeper customisation disabled.
When Apple bought Logic from Emagic, they took it apart & studied it to make a more basic, entry level product: Garageband. I'd recommend just going with Logic, as GB lacks many features needed for most serious users. There is nothing 'disabled' in GB, it just doesn't have the full features of Logic, or any of the other 3 main DAWs.
I was farming for more modern Apple Logic horn sounds 6 months ago and now I heard a 6-piece string sequence in my head for a hip hop tune. Gonna crush my work now. You should be able to see some rainbow puke leftovers in my icon. Thank you!!
Sax sounds ok cause tenor is hard to get natural. Strings doesn't impress, anonymous and muddy. You don't play any chords to show if a string section works? Only the cello which is the easiest and the bass. The step sequencer seems good. Thanks for the video.
6:21 - 6:24 : Reminds me of old Macintosh Startup Sound (Performa 630 CD)

Do you remember what chord you played at 9:45?
Thank you so much for this, I wondered about the orchestral strings in Logic X and my questions answered straight away...
You are very welcome! And remember, you can always expand them by recording your own samples, or by purchasing through a third party.

Beginning music pls tell the name
It's actually a piece I wrote for a soundtrack that is not public yet. I repurposed it as demo content for the sake of this tutorial. : )
Damn, I need to get a bigger hard drive
Dude, your content is pretty amazing. Great work 👍
Great to see apple including and updating the software they bought from Camel Audio. Nice video, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for posting!
hey man, would you have a clue where to locate Platinum Verb? Was ChromaVerb a replacement?
Eirron Graham - It’s under legacy now 😊

Buddy come move to my town. I could do with your tuition 😇👍🏻

great thanks for the info
I’ve tried the studio strings, and it’s muffled 😕
I believe there’s patches that have superb samples for strings and such. I saw one for a cello at $199. I never tried them myself.
Nice review!
Very nice review
Is Garageband toned down version of Logic Pro X?

Thanks Axsamano, Ben Armstrong and Sky Debreuil.

Why do I like the ios version more than the osx version!? Has someone the ios to osx link tested?
There is no iOS version of Logic Pro X. The remote app runs on iOS, but that’s a companion app.
Computer Clan is it good the companion app?
Yes, but I don't use it since I like having physical buttons to control my DAW, as opposed to a touch screen.
@3:05 I thought he was going to break out with the Flintstones theme! LOL
I hear it, now! Haha.
Did they update ultra beat?
Nope but I wish they did lol
you and me both lol

👍🏼 Thanks for sharing! ✔️ ✨ 💜
I just didn’t like when u seleted violins to demonstrate the reverbs, didn’t work out.

Thanks for the nice demo. Next time, please mix the instruments a little louder than your voice.
Yeah, I'm terribly sorry. I know it didn't come out super great ;w;
Aw I thought it was something for OS X Tiger..
John Green Twin why don’t you update to high seira
I meant that comment as I thought he was making a video on something OS X Tiger related. And I don't have a Mac anymore.
