Choosing the right shrimp lure size and color can make a big difference in how many (or few) fish are caught.
We also must factor in depth coverage, casting distance, and snag resistance to make sure we have maximized fish catching with minimized frustration.
Most importantly, we need to make sure correctly prioritize these various factors so that we can consistently get good fish-catching results every trip.

This new video lesson below explains what I have found so far in selecting the right shrimp lure for the conditions across the seasons.
Plus, you’ll see which factor matters most of all so that you can make sure to focus on it more than the others.

I recently bought several different colors of both sizes of the power prawn USA. The Slam Shady color in the full size has absolutely been slaying keeper flounder. Hoss helix in shallow water and 1/4 oz football jig in deeper water are highly effective. I’m fishing the Mississippi Sound area.
Thanks for the support!
Just out of curiosity, would running the power prawn weedless on a Carolina rig be a valid option for fishing deeper vegetation?
That option should work fairly well, but a weedless jig head would be the better option because it'll give the lure better vertical motion in the water. We are designing a weedless jig head for these power prawn usa lures now, so hoping to have them available in another month or two.
Best shrimp lure on the market - hands down
I'm gonna pick up a pack. Have you tried chase baits flick prawn or voodoo shrimp? those both work great and are extremely durable.
@@taylorhickman84 Yes. I've used both. They are good baits but not even close to as versatile as the Power Prawn (and the Power Prawn lures are a fraction of the price)
Why do you rig them with the flat side down ? I would think the opposite ? Thanks
Because that's how they were designed... the flat side is down to help the lure have a nice glide down to the bottom when rigged on weighted hooks and jigheads.
I agree with using a Jighead in deeper water does work better but I'm bank or wade fishing, so the weedless setup helps me not get snagged as often. I'm in southeast Georgia I'm usually under a bridge where there's lots of structure. But these lures are great!
Thanks for making time to post the comment Ray!
I was just curious I ordered some power Prawn jrs and the jig head that you're using the z-man can't seem to find that
My favorite jig head for the Junior sized Power Prawn is the Pro Shroomz jighead linked here: fishstrong.com/collections/saltwater-hooks/products/z-man-pro-shroomz-jig-head?variant=42196406927534
What’s shipping time normally run to south fl?
It should just be 3 to 4 days... we send orders out within 24 hours, and the USPS shipping is normally 2 to 3 days to south fl.
I've been catching big flounder on the power prawn at first I was skeptical the lure wasn't going to work but I was wrong they are just as good as Z Man shrimp lures
Thanks for making time to post the nice comment!
Love me some slam Shady 😎
Pa-Pow!
ah I should have waited to buy. Guess I will go and buy more.
It's not like they won't get used:) Best of all, the weighted hooks and jig heads work great for many other soft plastics too.
Great content! 😊
Thanks!
Down in tampa these lures crush!
The Brazilian got it right with the color and I don't know why ya'll decided to take the red glitter ????????? If it ain't broke DON'T fix it!!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could send all of the P.P. USA back just because of the color !!!!!!!!!!

I understand you guys want to sell these lures, you have surely pushed them very hard. Only problem I have with this is 2 things. If what you say is true:
1: DOA with little to no action over Vudu shrimp would catch more, but it doesn't.
2: This is nothing more than a stick bait with a shrimp looking tail to catch the angler. So might as well use a Zman Streakz which would have better action.
1) DOA shrimp are for shallower water while Vudu shrimp are designed to bounce on the bottom, so it's an apples to apples comparison... the DOA would likely win in shallower water or when the fish are targeting a slow sinking presentation while the Vudu would most likely win in deeper water since it'll drop through the water column quicker.
2) The Streakz is a jerk bait... jerk baits work great, but a shrimp shaped lure with a similar darting motion in the water (like our Power Prawns) will win when the fish are dialed into shrimp.
