Do You Wash Off Moisturizer?

  • You shouldn't rinse off moisturizer as its purpose is to lock in moisture.
    To apply it:
Cleanse: Clean your face of impurities and dry it for effective moisturizer absorption.
Toner (Optional): Apply toner if you have one. If not, it's okay to skip.
Treatments/Serums (Optional): If you use treatments or serums, apply them after the toner and before the moisturizer.
Moisturize: Spread a small amount evenly over your face and neck without rinsing.
Absorption: Allow a couple of minutes for the moisturizer to absorb.
Sunscreen (For Daytime): If it's daytime, finish with a sunscreen to protect from UV rays.

Hey, I'm a guy and I don't wear make-up either but this was pretty helpful. Not a lot of guys talk about it but we have these skin problems too. I'm trying to combat my acne and oily skin, just to a healthy amount so thank you.

      Hey! :)
You might want to try a cleanser with Salicylic Acid or Benzoyl Peroxide. A moisturizer is only necessary if you have or experience dry skin. Alternatively, using a Hyaluronic Acid toner or serum may feel better on your skin, as they tend to be much lighter.
However, keep in mind that if you struggle with acne to also investigate into the root causes of your acne, such as lack of sleep, stress or mental health issues, environmental factors (air & water quality, washing detergent, etc), or your diet (such as consuming too much added sugar, processed food, fast food, or any food intolerance; like soy, spices, milk, bread (wheat/gluten), eggs, chicken, etc).

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Yeah I know cleaning my face isn't the only thing. Changing bed sheets and fixing my diet are all things I ought to do. I swear I had Benzoyl Peroxide somewhere..

What do i do if i think I've ruined my skin from the previous tries of skin care?
Currently I'm only using a cleanser and retinol now. Plus some sunscreen.
Maybe the past skincare mistakes have made my face worse than it should have been....? Idk

Well, I honestly don't know, but it's certainly possible that you damaged the skin. I've seen this many times over the past few years, mainly because people often use all kinds of products that influencers recommend. Usually, the skin recovers quite quickly, so within a few days or weeks, everything should be back to normal if you cleanse it properly.

I dont use sunscreen or cleanser. If I just use moisturizer without a cleanser, will it clog pores? And is moisturizer with SPF better?

Do you have a lot of sun exposure? What's your skin type? Which moisturizer do you use? If you can properly remove your moisturizer with only water, or perhaps use a soft washcloth along with it, then yes, that's fine! :)

@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Thank you😊 I think I have dry or normal skin, but I do get blackheads on my nose and pimple from time to time. I don't have a skin care routine yet. Some say cleanser and sunscreen cause acne. i don't know where to start, but I'm trying to find a moisturizer that suits my skin for winter. Naturally, aloe vera is good for my skin, but for example, cucumber left rough spots on my face. so I don't know what to use and my exact skin type.

@@ayse-px6mz Water alone can be enough; however, some people say that using a cleanser helps cleanse their skin and pores more effectively, and they notice a visible difference or improvement. Mild cleansers, such as Beauty of Joseon Green Plum Cleanser, The Ordinary Glucoside Foaming Cleanser, or Cetaphil's Hydrating Cream Foaming Cleanser, could be great options. You can also choose to use a cleanser once per day instead of twice. Regarding moisturizer, since you use aloe vera when it's not winter, you may enjoy CeraVe's Ultra-Light Moisturizing Gel, Geek & Gorgeous Hydration Station, or The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA.

@@thelegendaryvibhu6427 You could try something like this:
      AM:
      - Regular Cleanser (suitable for your skin type)
      - Azelaic Acid (serum, gel or cream)
      - Sunscreen
      PM:
      - Regular Cleanser
      - Retinol, Retinal or Retinoid (gel, lotion or cream)
If you experience dryness, use the treatments less often, like every other day. On the days when you're not using any treatments, you can use a lightweight lotion or gel-cream moisturizer.
