This has to be one of the best video instruction on Marz repair/service. Trust me..I've been running through the web for nearly 8 months and this vid is by far the best.
Thank you for making this video. Most detailed and clear video I could find on marzocchi fork service.
hasta el dia de hoy, este es el mejor video tutorial de manutencion de la fork. saludos!
Very usefull, considering lack of Marzochhi forks information! Thank you!
Just did a very complicated service of a 2012 Marzocchi 55 RC3. I overtightened the lowest black nut under the dampener side. Because the black knob is made of aluminum it broke in half. I said "Hold my beer" and I made a new nut in brass, which would have been a good choice of material from the start. Reshaping the brass top nut took two evenings, and reversing the threads another evening, but it fits perfectly.
Somewhere along the line it lost the small O-ring that sits inside the lowers on the bottom on dampener side. It caused a mysterious oil leak, coming from the threads between the lowest previously black nut, and the red dampener system inside. A regular O-ring did not fit, so I had to fashion a really thin O-ring from a bicycle tyre. I have been jumping on the fork and no leaks yet! *crossing fingers*
Soon I can rebuild a whole fork! :P Marzocchi can just go bankrupt again, I don't care.
Great tear down video. I usually clean out the cartridge by filling a pill bottle with some new oil, then put the end of the catridge in it-making sure the hole is under the oil level-and pump it a bunch of times. You can dump oil and repeat if a lot of nasty stuff comes out.
Great video really helpful, I've been told you can use green 9 weight oil instead of 7.5 weight and it gives you more adjustability.
Thanks for the video,These are very similar to dirt bike forks maybe thats why they work so well.Try using Nitrile gloves instead they aren't slippery when wet like those are.
Steve
Hey,
from what i can see at the technical drawings both forks can be serviced the same way. If there are some differences they should be minimal.
Except the cartridge.
is that zero air pressure in air assist?
Hello Friends, can someone please tell me what kind of engine oil u use at the spring site and how much? Thank you so much❤
Hey,
it may be just a leaking from the valve. So you could just change the inside of the valve.
Normaly there should be no movement.
I haven't take this part apart, so i can't tell you more.
Write to marzocchi service center for a detailed answer.
Cheers
what is the name of the black adapter thingy attached to the shocks pump.. i had just lost mine where can i buy it? thanks
Great video! Thank you!
Greetings. I still have this fork on my ‘13 truax. It definitely needs a service and is currently clunking after compressing and lifting up. Is this a problem with the oil or an internal failure like the cartridge? Also since the fork is so old I’m worried that the seals may go soon, should I order new ones or just try the service in this video? Thanks for posting this
Surely could be something with the oil or with the negative spring.
Just give it a check up?
Are this the original seals?
If they are, put in new ones. After 8 years the rubber goes hard.
Would be a shame to open have to open the fork again
@@matthias6353 ya original seals I think. I'll have a look online and see if I can find some replacements. Do you know where the best place is to find a seal kit for this fork? thanks man.
Thanks. looks similar to my SL all mountain forks. Need to service them, didn't realise it was just a cassette tool I needed. What type of oil can I use a motorbike 5w?
Thanks for making this video, after watching it I realized there is no way in hell I can do it, so my bike is in my friends garage and he will be doing it for me.
Hey,
thanks. It may be worth a try.
Hi Matt!
Thank you for a great video.
I have a question, and I really hope you could take your time to answer as I will be leaving for the alps on friday, and need do assemble my fork before that.
My fork is a 55 RC3 Ti 2011.
I'm confused about the little ring that you take out of the fork right after you take the snap ring out, at around 9 minutes in your video. Is it supposed to be a similiar ring inside the other stanchion, or just on the spring side?
Because I can only find one, so I'm really worried that I wont get the fork back together before friday.
Hope you have the time to answer me,
big thanks Matthias
Hey,
its just in the spring side. See the drawing ( www.mountainbikes.net/mtbikes/ersatzteile.cfm?gnr=52 ). Its the little ring right under number 54.
Hallo..can u tell me..how much oil usually u do
What is the adapter
Hi, do you know if the 2011 66 RC3 Evo Ti is essentially the same? Thanks!
Is the oil change same for the 55 R?
Same for for 2005 66 rc bomber?
The video was useful :) Thanks
Hi Matt. What type of engine oil did you use in the spring side? Is this truly ok/better than fork oil? I've read elsewhere that engine oil may perish the seals. Great vid by the way.
I don't remember the oils specifications. It doesnt matter which oil you use. Motoroil provides a better solution. But i think forkoil will do the same. I didn't expierence any damage on the seals. But i also couldn't confirm that motoroil is harmless to the seals.
Cheers
in ml how much oil is used for each bar ?
would you know how much oil the rlo 33 takes?
how many pounds is used plows a pilot 100kg
Salve!
Ich besitze eine Marzocchi 66 ATA / 2009 RC3. Ist dein klasse Tutorial dafür 1:1 übernehmbar?
Hey,
das kann ich dir nicht sagen. Theoretisch schon. Praktisch habe ich noch keine ATA Gabel ausseinander gebaut.
oil name plz ?? is that 7.5 w ? my only problem i don't find this oil here shit
Hey,
this is "wilbers gabelöl (forkoil)". But motorex and maxima racing fluid are also that good.
It's 7.5w oil. But you can use thicker oder a little bit thinner oil to match your preference. Also you can mix different viscositys.
ahhhh motorex but 7.5 W yes ?
bro i really need u this is my facebook

hi my forks marzocchi no work the rebound help please!
+nelson mansila i change the oil and notingh
+nelson mansila
Put your fork back together until 18:20 (Minutes). Make sure your rebound is fully open (counterclockwise).
Now fill in some of the oil. Work the cartridge shaft up and down. There should be bubbles coming up. Do this until the oil level lower or there are no more bubble comming up. Fill in the rest of the oil. Work the shaft up and down again.
While doing this you should feel that there is more restistance.
already but I think the cartridge is damaged because the bottom of the fork is not the same as yours
+nelson mansila Thats one option. But without any further information about model and without any pics i can't help.
seal kit, top 38*52 / inside 38*50 mm
ferygood top what psi compresion
How much engine oil is in there?
20ml should be enough.
@@matthias6353 okay thank you very much
Marzocchi 55 rc3 ti is the same?
Yeah, it should be pretty much the same.
kann man auf der federseite das alte Öl wenn es noch gut ist rein kippen
+Mahdi Taleb Das kannst du tun. Aber besser ist neues Öl, zumal fast jeder irgendwo noch Motoröl rumstehen hat.
where is the shim stack...
Motor Öl egal welches oder
Hi
Well, it's not only the old and dirty oil. It's also because of the small loose metalparts i don't want to have in my fork.
But you're right i forgot the advice to dry the cartridge.
Amateur mechanic...you're right. Stupid... i don't think so.
[RUS] - Не особо аккуратная работа. весь корпус вилки в масле, всё залапано. Но в целом молодец.
Bomber . No marzocchi -.-
Better have old oil than have fucking water in my cartridge... stupid amateur mechanic.
Go away with your vitriol. This type of toxic comments are useless unless your just trying to be a troll
