I feel like the way the Roman heel turn happened only went down like that because of covid happening, since it caused Roman to leave for a while which allowed him to make a shocking return as a heel. Who knows, maybe WWE would've created a different scenario that forced Roman to disappear for a bit and return as a heel to the shock of a live audience
