This was a very close fight ! I thought Petch won watching live but rewatching it T-Chai out scored with kicks . As a fan it was a great battle and I would have accepted any outcome

I think this fight will take both fighters to a new level. Great fighters need great opponents, and it was rewarding to see Tawanchai actually reach his limits for once. I think he earned his win today, but their first rematch will be the first truly groundbreaking match between these two champions.
It was close, and I'm a MMA fan. I have no idea how they score MT, but tawanchai landed some of the most damaging shots in the fight. Petmorakot was relentless with pressure, and point boxing. I saw Tawanchai win. Close though.

@@iNC0GNEGRO actually the 'full fight' judging is just for One Championship MMA fights, for Muay Thai it's basically '10 point must' judging by round using basically the traditional Muay Thai judging criteria ... except they add on (or give priority to) a few scoring criteria they use as a deciding factor in case the normal judging results in a draw (there can be no draws in OC Muay Thai, unlike in traditional Muay Thai where they can be draws!)

I do think body language, even taunting, or the impression that one is in control does weigh on the score. For that, I think of when Sugar Ray Leonard beat Marvin Hagler; Hagler landed cleaner and more often, but SRL taunted and bolo punched and at the last 30 seconds he would shoe shine to steal the round.

Viewing initially as a fan, I thought Pet won but after rewatching and scoring properly I thought Tchai won decidedly 3-2. It could have even been 4-1 depending how you score arm kicks and teeps versus partially blocked crosses in the 3rd round - traditional MT scoring favors the former.
Man...tough call, I thought Petch edged him out, looked like the more effective fighter. Tawanchai DID clearly win the kicking game though, maybe that's what put him over the top in the judges' eyes. Kicks score more in MT fights, right?
But 5th round petch really only landed a couple of straights and a few jabs. Tawenchai hammered him with kicks and that uppercut. Correct decision IMO 1, 2, 5

I suggest to most people before getting all upset that your fav lost and commenting you thought the scores were rigged I suggest you rewatch it. And watch who kicks more and who punches more watch where the kicks land how they land and how does the other person respond. Don’t listen to the commentary just watch. And remember Clean hits should always be countered or else your opponent will receive the point. How were tawanchais kicks countered? he’s a great striker yes but media kept on implying its just cause his hands and speed. In my opinion that’s where he’s not on petchs level they only mention his hands and speed and accuracy But don’t mention his legs that’s where he is actually a striking genius . When you look at the evasion, counters and accidental dumps you’d think but I think tawanchai worked harder and put more power behind every hit and to push the pace. Unless he was knocked out, points wise it was his game.
Petchmorakot the CHAMP won this fight. Tawanchai fought very well, but not well enough to be the NEW CHAMP. Petchmorakot scored better with punches and elbows, Tawanchai scored mostly w/ push kicks... Tawanchai's head was getting rocked back throughout this fight. In the last 2 rounds, Petchmorakot is the aggressor, moving forward, relaxed, getting key punches in, counter punching beautifully to the face... Both great fighters!! Petchmorakot for the win!
Rocked back? What fight were you watching? The only one rocked rhe whole fight was Petch. His pepper shots weren't doing anything. When he received blows, he had to cut corners and evade because HE WAS ROCKED. That's what the judges saw.

After watching it again I think Tawanchai's kicks & pressure won him the fight. Petch's body language in the championship rounds also made it seem like Tawanchai was stronger. I think the commentary was a little bias towards the champ.

Watching this live i fully thought petch got the win. But upon rewatch tawanchais kicks really got it done early and in round 5. Incredibly close bout can’t wait to see the rematch
I think Tawanachai won the first two rounds but the last three Petch really turned up the heat and landed some good counters and worked the clinch really well.
I disagree with your point. I watched this fighting twice. I cannot see which round is better for Petmorakot. Tawanchai always keeps fighting while Petmorakot just tries to defend himself. However, Petmorakot is tough enough to not be knocked out.
@@prof.tony9452 Tawanchai doesn't land anything significant when it comes to damage. Petch outboxed him and Tawanchai used his teep to push Petch back. Tawanchais kicks didn't land clean other than some leg kicks. Petch lands several counter punches and clinch knees in the last two rounds but I think when it comes to score Tawanchai got a good head start and then kept the last rounds very close. Good fight overall

Dominance is rewarded. High kicks score better than low kick, powerful techniques score. That's why Muay Thai instead of Dutch style is less combinations. Cause little taps don't score they rely more on powerful single attack

It was close call I thought petch had it too but rewwatching tawanchai had more heavier kicks and it all landed and each of the kicks had intention behind it and weren't wasted either
@@dreadknot2238 Yes I would agree. Those kicks were mostly unchecked. Regardless of how strong Petch's core is, those kicks hurt, and the damage was recorded by the judges. A lot of points go unobserved by the casual watcher. But a fighter knows how brutal a kick to the body is. That is not an insignificant strike. It was impressive to see how successful his kicks were against a seasoned veteran in Muay Thai. The throws were not intentional, but simply muscle memory. And no damage was done, he softened the throws as he landed them, because he realized mid throw that it was an illegal move. To me, he won the fight by decision, but if it had gone another round, he would have lost. He was more exhausted by far.
Petch tried to come back to late Tawanchi came out fighting from the very start, more power behind his hits. Congratulations to the new champion great fight.
i watched it again and there's no way petch could have won. it was tawanchai all the way even if he was tired. his kicks were more and landing more often
Tawanchai did really good but Petchmorakot definitely won 🏆. It almost felt like they just wanted to get rid of the old champ. Even the Ref Olivie Costa was shocked with the outcome lol
Tawanchai did look exhausted but seriously, how many unanswered kicks did he land? Petch had a brief moment of looking dominant in the clinch but in terms of strikes landed he I don’t think he could claim victory.
Man i feel bad for Marakot. He clearly won that fight in my eyes. T-Chai had a hard time hitting marakot , and you could tell he was frustrated… T-chai put up a good fight tho.. it’s just feels like they wanted him to be champ for their ratings.

About the samescoring as mma, the different is that they score the entire fight instead of by rounds.

also bout is judged in it's entirety and not round by round. and had that not been the case, probably would've won

A lot of his kicks were blocked or caught though. His teep was his most effective kick, lots of push back but doesnt really do damage.
Damaging kicks do. Damage is the #1 consideration. Look at Tawanchai's face.
Getting hit on the arm/forearm is not considered a block in muay thai, Petch did not check a majority of the rear kicks of tawanchai

After watching it again I think Tawanchai's kicks & pressure won him the fight. Petch's body language in the championship rounds also made it seem like Tawanchai was stronger.
I think the commentary was a little bias towards the champ.

I think Tawanachai won the first two rounds but the last three Petch really turned up the heat and landed some good counters and worked the clinch really well.
I disagree with your point. I watched this fighting twice. I cannot see which round is better for Petmorakot. Tawanchai always keeps fighting while Petmorakot just tries to defend himself. However, Petmorakot is tough enough to not be knocked out.
@@prof.tony9452 Tawanchai doesn't land anything significant when it comes to damage. Petch outboxed him and Tawanchai used his teep to push Petch back. Tawanchais kicks didn't land clean other than some leg kicks. Petch lands several counter punches and clinch knees in the last two rounds but I think when it comes to score Tawanchai got a good head start and then kept the last rounds very close. Good fight overall

I thought Petchmorakot won that one... but it was really close. Tawanchai usually dominates but Petchmorakot really took him to school. Still, too close and it could go either way.

I’m an MMA fan and don’t know the exact MT scoring criteria, but based on damage I thought Tawanchai pretty clearly won three rounds
Kick much more points than punch
Dominance is rewarded. High kicks score better than low kick, powerful techniques score. That's why Muay Thai instead of Dutch style is less combinations. Cause little taps don't score they rely more on powerful single attack
that was a pretty close match but I don't think the challenger did enough to take the belt from the champion. I definitely would've given it to Petchmorakot
If it was a boxing match, absolutely, but if you are counting the unchecked leg and body kicks that do significant damage throughout the fight, Taiwanchai was the winner. The judges are seeing that damage and weighing it in their decision. Having said that, I still feel that Taiwanchai was the more exhausted at the end of the fight. In a matter of points thought, exhaustion does not apply.
It was close call I thought petch had it too but rewwatching tawanchai had more heavier kicks and it all landed and each of the kicks had intention behind it and weren't wasted either
@@dreadknot2238 Yes I would agree. Those kicks were mostly unchecked. Regardless of how strong Petch's core is, those kicks hurt, and the damage was recorded by the judges. A lot of points go unobserved by the casual watcher. But a fighter knows how brutal a kick to the body is. That is not an insignificant strike. It was impressive to see how successful his kicks were against a seasoned veteran in Muay Thai. The throws were not intentional, but simply muscle memory. And no damage was done, he softened the throws as he landed them, because he realized mid throw that it was an illegal move. To me, he won the fight by decision, but if it had gone another round, he would have lost. He was more exhausted by far.
