    Marc Doty is the Authority on Synthesizer's! He helped out so much throughout the years. His explanation's are clear and precise. I won't even buy a Synth, until I see his videos!

    thank you for making these videos. I felt lost when I first got my Matrixbrute. This helped me understand what I can do with this tool.

    Love these videos! You started putting them out right when I got my MatrixBrute and it's been awesome to have an in-depth, thorough look at this amazing instrument. I'm hoping after you've covered all the sections maybe you do a couple videos of just making some cool patches. Keep it up!

    Hey when you were changing the note for the first step around 6:30-7:20, the reason the accent vanished / 'came back' is because the matrixbrute adds accents to the step sequencer based on the velocity with which you strike the key, not any memory of you wanting the original note to be accented

    finally ! thanks for doing this I have asked Arturia here and in the forum for a few updates to the sequencer.
    1. latch mode with quantize, so for example set to 16ths and hold a note or play and sequencer records 16th notes. vs. step or manual input.
    2. ability copy and paste rows.
    3. Real time recording, What you play is what you get mode , imagine capturing a 2 bar legato and then short notes, or whatever riff you play......with a snap to quantize......maybe this isn't possible but 1 and 2 are no brainers to take the sequencer to the next level.

    Hi @AutomaticGainsay
    First of all thank you very much if these video’s. The are really interesting and entertaining. But in this video, you’ve mentioned the next video would be about the mod sequencer. But the next one is about the arpeggiator.
    Is the video about the mod sequencer still coming? I hope so.
    Thnx in advance

    Question! Can we bond the last note in the sequence to the first? Every time I hold the 1st(step 32) button and then press the 2nd button(step1) to tie the notes together on my sequence, the machine clears my pattern. Can't tie step 32 to step 1.

  • @MadelnMachines
    @MadelnMachines 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you sequence chords since you can play 3 notes at once? The new minibrute s sequencer seems far more capable - do you know if an 's' style sequencer is planned for the matrixbrute?

    Just like Robyn Clymans I'm always waiting for the definitive and clear explanation of the seq mod, i crave for it !
    Will you please at least explain this part ?

    Today I accidentally changed a setting and when I attempted to STEP RECORD it would record one note as TWO of the same note. I turned the synth off and back on, and it was back to normal. How did I get into this setting??? Does anyone know?

    Great Vid as always ;) Marc, one question, if you would need
    to choode between the Pro 2 and the Matrixbrute which one would you go first (Eventually, I would like to get them both, but Im wondering which would go first)

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've been asked that a number of times, Viktor, and it never gets any easier to answer. I, personally, would have a terrible time choosing between the two. Each of them have some differing features, and which of those is more desirable, I think, depends on what you intend to do.
      If I didn't have either and had to choose one, I'd have a terrible time making the decision.

    • @lufee001
      @lufee001 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Marc, actually I'm producing house/techno style stuff, I already own an MS20 desktop as mono synth and an OB6 desktop as Poly, the Pro2 or Matrixbrute would be my second monosynth...

    • @lufee001
      @lufee001 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Curious Droid, thanks for this extensive and detailed answer, it actually helps me a lot in the decision, one more question, sounding wise which one you liked more?

    • @indiefilmcomposer
      @indiefilmcomposer 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Viktor Szűcs I tried the pro 2 and it's very powerful and a good performance instrument however since you have the OB and the MS 20 ( which would be a good bass drone synth) I would choose the matrix brute because the hands on step sequencer is fun to use and great work flow. For your techno it would be the center piece of your grooves, start there and then bring in the other instruments.....I actually just reordered one and decided not to get the rev2, the pro 2 is lovely the step sequencer can be very animated with multi track modulation however you have to drill down a little to get there so if you can afford it, that could bought later it would bring some great textures to your music. ........( i have P6, nord lead 4, and integra as my polly synths, moog for mono ) , just my opinion of course......

    • @lufee001
      @lufee001 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JVMC thanks for the insights, eventually I would go for the Pro 2 as well, but as first I probably start with the Matrixbrute!

    I sat through an 18 minute video to find out how to use the seq mod function, but Marc seems to have forgotten to get to it, promises it's in the next video, and then it's not. Please spend less time on the obvious stuff, and show us the stuff that's not explained in the manual!

    • @jamesthomas904
      @jamesthomas904 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Same reaction here. I searched for the seq mod function and found a site that gave me 5 free watches then I have to pay. Seems they are taking financial advantage for the poorly written user manual. Anyways, when in the sequencer matrix, just press and hold a 'MOD' button and turn the MOD amount wheel to a + or - amount. Then, switch to the mod matrix and there's a 'Seq Mod' source (row L) that you can send to any of the modulation inputs in the typical fashion. Hope this helps!

    This thing supports a whopping 1 track for the sequencer!? That kinda sucks. For the price, this thing shouldve supported at least 4 tracks so we can overlay sequences and play them back, mute some tracks, etc. i was almost sold.

    • @automaticgainsay
      @automaticgainsay  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I would say never predicate the purchase a powerful, complex, great-sounding synthesizer on its sequencer functionality.

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LOL it’s a (basically) mono synth - how’s it going to play those extra tracks?

    • @supercommando440
      @supercommando440 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mono synth and seperate track playback are 2 seperate functional entities that can co-exist

    • @AndreaPessino
      @AndreaPessino 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      supercommando440 you said “overlay tracks,” the most you could do here is in paraphonic mode - which I guess is doable but hardly all that important when it comes to the sequencer. As far as separating the tracks, the sequences can be saved independently from the patches on the MB, so essentially you have 256 tracks available and recallable. Pretty sweet for a mono synth.

    • @brianparnham6647
      @brianparnham6647 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@supercommando440 - Absolutely- as the DSI synths have had for years. Separate tracks, each with their own mod destination (vs. 1 mod destination available on MB). Sadly, a deal breaker for me. Seems like they could beef up the sequencer on MB with different tracks, track lengths and such to add a lot of flexibility and power to the instrument.
