I’m already finding myself pretty invested and wanting to just know more (seriously though I feel pretty hyped about the next chapter). It is quite literally the embodiment of peak known to fiction. Kagura Bachi has saved so many lives, ended world racism, ended world hunger, ended so many world problems. I remember back in my childhood watching this masterpiece of a anime with the neighborhood kids I never thought I'd see the day it becomes this well known.

People don't understand the disconnect the memes create between readers overseas and locally in Japan who're confused about Kagurabachi's popularity .Which would make SHUEISHA think this's kind of quality is acceptable, so upcoming authors would keep on following: ("The Edgy Swordsmen Sorcerer With A a Scar Wearing Black Emo Clothing Avenger Of My Dead Family .") trend, which unfortunately is turning into a BLUEPRINT for any new series. This whole situation reminds me of what Mayuri said to Szayelaporro in BLEACH during the Hueco Mundo Arc:" There will be no Creativity No room for Improvements ." Even though the context is different, which's about perfection but that speech also applies to what will be the scary future of Jump. Every new author will be sticking to a safe trope limiting their creativity, not thinking outside of the box in fear of the possibility of their work being discontinued if they don't do well in 20 - 30 chapters. Kagurabachi is decent manga but it fell into the misfortune of the memes either it blows up and proves every joker wrong with an insane execution and twist or it dies with the memes when they stop being funny which won't take 2 weeks.

Ok, this thing, so this seems to be just another thing the internet/online media/anime fans is/are hyping up as a meme. Just because it looks funny and… whatever else I don’t understand/get. I mean, it’s a meme manga… so what??? And you are right when you bring up the subject of fake criticism with it too. With clearly this manga getting more attention thanks to the meme ability rather than it’s actual plot/themes. Which is of course a damn shame because THAT is absolutely tragic for anyone who legitimately wants to write a good story/manga. However to me… this doesn’t really seem to be something that’ll last… at least to me anyways. I JUST checked out chapter 1 of it too and it you are right, it is VERY standard and pretty basic with it’s plot so far. With some interesting elements but for the most part having the same stuff you would see in ANY other manga. Not to mention one of the major things I kinda of dislike or dissuade me being the kinda expressionless art style (basic I think) and the pacing! I mean, I know the guy’s father dies in chapter 2 but in 1 it goes from his normal childhood with his dad and STRAIGHT cuts into him later when he gets the swords and everything. Not exactly captivating to me, and kinda jarring. With also the point of his father dying, despite no connection built or anything else that can get the readers interest/concern. Just feels like a standard manga with some interesting elements… but a lot too it so far. So I’m not sure if this will last too long, maybe a while but who knows. I think the main takeaway here (besides the whole meme thing and how it can fake popularity and interest) is that a writer/storyteller has to think about how to make the audience they intended on let reading their story genuinely CARE for their series. With more thought put into “Oh, how can I grasp my readers attention without them making fun of skipping my story. What narrative devices and events can I come up with or & show that can leave some kind of impact…”. Just my thoughts, like the video, this series DEFINITELY doesn’t have my interest as of yet. But it’ll get better, all depends on the author and more importantly it’s reception.
