am I the only person who thinks this is one of her best songs ever and should have been huge? The vocals, the piano riff running through the verses, bridge and chorus pulling the song together and making it super catchy, the lyrics.. This should have been #1. I think it was better than Touch My Body tbh.
The thing is, it may not be number 1 in Billboards Hot 100, but it's a huge hit in the Philippines, it's all over the radio, even televisions.
This song always gave the the impression that it could’ve been as big as We Belong Together, very current for that time but still very Mariah. Very underrated

"I Stay in Love" gives total "Breakdown" vibes and if you're a fan of Breakdown, like myself, then you can really appreciate this song even more. And, just like Breakdown, I will never understand why this song didn't get a chance to become a hit single. On a side note, Mariah's voice changed a LOT from the late 90s to the late 2000s, but when listening to this song in 2021 you can see that her voice hasn't changed quite as dramatically since the e=mc2 era.

Yeah, listening to that, you can see the flawed pronunciation of the words "front" and "oh well", cause it doesn't sound like those words. It really sounds more like "fart" and "a whale". But hey, it's good for comedy. What can i say? The only bad side effect is that people could say Mariah can't sing. Maybe singers need to make a version where they make their lyrics clearer. Whether by making the music slower, or by putting extra emphasis on the words that are harder to hear.

Migrate should've been a good follow up to Bye Bye, not I Stay in Love. Cruise Control and Side Effects should've been released too. If Mariah's label just did it properly, Mariah should've 20 #1's to date.
