Possibly the greatest female vocalist ever ! Unique and superbly sublime vocalist! No wonder she is the most charted female singer. My words are not enough !
Probably my favorite Aretha tune, of many favorites. That's REAL Soul Pop Funk R&B folks. The guitar is swampy grittiness from the drop, and the bass...the whole thing man. It's 2 and a half minutes of glory.
She in my opinion , was probably one of the most gifted female artists in my lifetime !!! Gospel , & blues , soul . She had the vocal range and talent !!! R. I. P Aretha , you are not forgotten ❤
In 1969 my best friend and I went to see the Queen of Soul . It was my first live concert and I still don't think anyone compares her. I could listen to her for hours.
When my sister and I were little kids this was a smash hit and if ever either one of us would mess up in life and do something we shouldn’t have, we would sing this song to each other, “ Chain chain chain, chain of fools.” LOL 😂 We are so blessed to have grown up in the 1960’s and 1970’s with some of the very best music that there has ever been, music that would bless you, move your soul, and speak to your heart. Happy Birthday to you in Heaven Aretha, The Truly One And Only Queen Of Soul.
Aretha is probably the only singer that moves me to tears. She makes you feel something inside your soul. That’s why she’s the queen of soul forevermore.
Her band on this is the Swampers from Muscle Shoals, Alabama... nothing but five white guys... She couldn't believe how good these white boys were! What an awesome song!
Queen of Soul! in the Morning also Happy Birthday!!! Aretha aslo Happy 79th Birthday to her in Heaven we wish she was here with us but God knows... To Aretha's fans and love one. keep her Legacy and in spirit a live. Love you Queen. Detroit keep her always in heart❤️#RESTINPOWER.

I pray that Jennifer comes out if that evil trap ...To tell us her real storey ~ Those bastards murdered her family members. It's a "contract". I pray that Jennifer comes out of this to tell the world her truth . She's extremely gifted. With or without them. FACT. 💪💌💜👍
Me too-there is a longer version that has this that has an incredibily bluesy intro that is even better. I believe this was recorded at the Muscle Shoals Studio in Alabama which had an amazing group of musicians.
youngins, this is the real deal, what we called SOUL MUSIC and still do . this is a genre all its own . it don't fit your broad "throw anything you want" into r&b genre . Soul music is a Titan, its too great and awesome to fit in any of your genres
Don’t bother addressing “youngins”. Age doesn’t matter. There’s plenty of older folk who don’t appreciate true art and passion and feeling. Address the ignorant. The lost. Not the “youngins”
Joe South channeling Pops Staples on guitar just effin' nails it! And face it, that woman could read the damn phone book out loud and make a baptist wanna get up and dance! Man that is one awesome track !
Aretha was awesome but for whatever reason there were a few other great singers who, given better songs and good management could have done more. I'm thinking, for one, about the girl that sang with Ray Charles on You are My Sunshine and the Right Time. Margie Hendrix, a fantastic voice but a career that went nowhere, unfortunately. Just one example. Timi Yuro had a huge voice as demonstrated on her record Cuttin' In. But being the right person with the right support and great material is so important to a musician's success. But no doubt Aretha was a 'phenom', as they say these days.
I love Re as my mom calls her. Aretha, Tina and Diana are the pop/rock/soul Charlie’s Angels. Just sugar, spice and everything nice. Never will you see another like any of the three.
Dropping in to pay respects to the late great Roger Hawkins on the drums. Great performance. The action that happens when he brings in that ride cymbal bell makes the whole track. Beautiful playing.
The difference when you hear someone who can sing and understands rhythm instead of auto tune and flat beats. Aretha was the salt and spice in the soul stew for sure.
One of her best right here from the late and great Aretha Franklin The Queen of Soul. Play this all the time on my internet radio show Classic Soul me the Masterblaster
Driving into work (night shift at a hospital) and people in the parking lot lookin' at me like they've never seen a middle aged white lady rock out with Aretha
I tried to think of how to describe this song by THE Queen of Soul. How do you describe almost perfection? Reminder, this song was cut way before digital editing came along in the analog era. Doesn't matter the year or genre - a great singer and great song will always rise to the top. 2024 and still sounds as good as it did when originally released. 😀
This song would always be playing at my great grandmother’s house anytime the family was over when I was a baby now my grandma has passed and this song will always be playing when I think of her love you grandma 🕊🕊❤️❤️
Tremendous!!! From a time before me when people that made music were musicians. Musicians with musical instruments and skills, not jackoffs with computers and a big ego.
I'm 28. Was raised on Aretha. I'll never let soul die. ❤❤❤ God bless y'all.
You were raised right! ✌️😎
I' m 73 and grew up on motown etc. Too!😮😅😊
Keep it playing

There ain't no possibly about it. Her range, power and spot on pitch are unmatched
Right, also Linda Maria Ronstadt, Karen Carpenter. That sums it up for my lifetime.

When a song can raise the hair on your arms because of how it hits you, then you know you found something special.
RIP, Queen. May your music continue to ring in the minds of people around the world and inspire them to be greater than themselves.
One of the "GREATEST" songs ever !!!!!
Not crazy about living in a world without Aretha...🌏

God Aretha really SANG with her heart AND soul.
In 1969 my best friend and I went to see the Queen of Soul . It was my first live concert and I still don't think anyone compares her. I could listen to her for hours.
Lady Soul is just🔥. The whole album. Actually her Atlantic years are untouchable.
This is not music... this is pure soul and heart.
❤
I’m 33 and this has been my all time favorite song for as long as I can remember
Regardless of what she’s singing… goosebumps… every time.
IT'S not IF you're black or white or anyone else, this song is amazing. Aretha is forever perfect

@Tiana Mckay hi same name 🥰🥰
Yes, she can’t be duplicated and she can be imitated, but it’s never going to be THE Aretha Franklin!
Rosie Gaines use to sing with Prince ....Rosie sounded so much like Aretha. Them two are on the same level with the voice.
